Michael Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 That's weird, do you have two different instances of this application showing up in the Manage Applications & Modules page in your Admin CP?
hoaivu2010 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 when i click Admin CP/Manage Applications & Modules i see IP Chat and Shoutbox...Can you help me know how i do it?....i am sorry...this firt time i have IPB...thanks
Michael Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 The first 'shoutbox' link you have there is to your IP.Chat install. Edit that application and change its Public Title to something other than Shoutbox.
Deltafox Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Hi Michael first of all thank's for your upgrade.. I have update two my forum v1.1.3 to 1.1.4.. but on 1 forum the hook active user... not installed... I have manually installed this hook v1.1.4 but into adminCP ---> IPB apz -> Shoutbox I see only [hook] global.... the [hook] active... is missing how i can fix this? Regards
Michael Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 The settings for it should show up if the hook is enabled. You're sure the hook is installed, and enabled?
Gary. Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Quick update regarding the issue: The latest shoutbox fixed it. Also a thanks goes to Michael for the Help via PM !
Deltafox Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 The settings for it should show up if the hook is enabled. You're sure the hook is installed, and enabled? Yes is enable.. I see also active user into board statistic... but I have manually installed this hook.. Only problems I can't configure it.. [hook] active ... is missing.. Regards
Michael Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Whether you manually installed the hook or not makes no difference, the code that determines whether or not the settings shows just looks for the hook key, which is always going to be the same. If you can PM me FTP and Admin CP info for your site I'll see what's going on.
AiyuEU Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Hi there, first, thank you for that app. Its awesome. But I have a problem with unregistered users. I want my shoutbox to be public. It is public. The problem is, that every USER gets the name "Guest". Is it possible that they can choose a name?
Michael Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 No, there is no built-in way to do that. With posts, there is a text box guests have to enter a user name in, there's nothing similar for this.
xChris777 Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Would it be possible to change the error message guests see? I want it to say something like, "Register now to gain access to the Shoutbox."
AlexWright Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Brilliant! This update fixed a few issues I was having with load time and such with 1.1.3. Thank ya very much! Edit: Hmm, for some reason this breaks the (RedEnzian) Collapsible Forums modification. Is there any way to look into why?
Michael Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Would it be possible to change the error message guests see? I want it to say something like, "Register now to gain access to the Shoutbox." Just edit the appropriate language string in the Shoutbox languages section. Brilliant! This update fixed a few issues I was having with load time and such with 1.1.3. Thank ya very much! Edit: Hmm, for some reason this breaks the (RedEnzian) Collapsible Forums modification. Is there any way to look into why? I wouldn't know, I've never used that other mod.
AlexWright Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 Disappointing, but shout-box wins over that mod anyways. Thanks so much again.
ceomalik Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Hi, is there a list of all of the SB commands anywhere?
Michael Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 The quick commands are all mentioned in the Shoutbox help topic.
Fallen Again Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Love the shoutbox, but the one major issue I am having with it, is that it disables the ability to post comments properly in my invision blog. To let you know some background detail, here's some info on my setup: - i am using the latest version of ipb (3.1.4), the latest blog version (2.3.2), and the latest shoutbox version (1.1.4) - my shoutbox is set specifically to be positioned at the bottom, below posts, and on every page of the forum - when i wrote invision support about blog comments not working, they disabled the "display shoutbox on every page" option, and comments magically worked again I was hoping with version 1.1.4 of the shoutbox installed (did it about an hour ago), this comments in the blog issue issue would be corrected. If you have any suggestions on how I may get blog commenting working with the shoutbox being enabled on every page, i'd be super grateful. Having the shoutbox on every page helps stimulate more convo in it, so ideally i'd like to have it on every page. Thanks in advance for your help! I did notice that if i type into the comments area of the blog, and then refresh the page (this is in firefox 4.0.1), and then hit send, the comments work (with the shoutbox set to display on every page). Ideally though i shouldn't need the refresh step to be able to post the blog comment.
Michael Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 That was already reported here: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/326667-download-shoutbox/page__view__findpost__p__2111904 I'll be looking into this for the next update.
Fallen Again Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Thanks for the info Michael, using the info, I was able to set the exclusions rule and just add: app=gallery app=blog so that it would not show up for the gallery or blog (i didn't realize that it also disabled commenting for the gallery). When you do release the fix, I'm guessing the commenting for all the affected areas should work? Thanks again for the info.
Thatsuperfly Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I installed this, and it looks like this...How do i get shoutbox under the global message, instead of on top?
Michael Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Unfortunately there is no easy answer to that. The Global Shoutbox hook has a setting for where it can be positioned, and that overrides the normal steps for changing a hook's position. You could edit the hook manually, but it would be overwritten whenever your settings recache.
.Nuno. Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Michael, I think this was asked before, but in a future version, could we have a way for members to chose a fixed color for they shouts? I came from vB and my members where used to this and are always asking for this. Thanks
