Member name -> Profile Options
by Guest tranceandy- 3 replies
- 1.9k views
When you click on a member name, I would like it ito have the Profile Options dropdown menu that is in the members profile, with the same options but with View Profile at the top and a few added underneath, e.g View Profile Find member's posts Find member's topics Ignore User Member's Display Name History Add to contact list Send PM E-Mail member View Card View Blog View Gallery What do you think? Some options could be ommited if too much.

Package Components
by Guest Luke- 2 replies
- 1.8k views
Well the "Export Component XML.." in 2.1 seems to only export the settings... What would be cool is if it included the corisponding files from the components_* folder. Then also include a SQL dump file to execute, which a modder could put in new templates, settings, etc...

Query idea

7 for loading the board index? Wow! Wondering though... if a member minimized the board stats would it be worth making it not run those queries for those hidden items but run if they maximized/expanded it?

Subcategories and disable "Subforums:" listing 1 2
by Guest Hyb- 33 replies

Hey, I wonder if its possible to suggest a new feature to be included in a future release of IPB that would make my use of the software and layout of my forum so much user friendly. I myself have a pretty large community and I wish to reorganise it so that a member can click, for example, "Forum 1" and it will take them to that forum but that forum will look like a index forum with a new "subcategories" feature. Vbulletin has this feature, yet i dislike vbulletin for its terrible admin control panel, however if i may use an example to show what i mean, i guess it would help you to understand if i sound like i'm speaking crap (sorry but lucasforum is the best example …

Quick editing posts with Smilies
by Guest K. T. Walrus- 1 reply
- 1.3k views
Any chance you could translate the Smilies in quick edit so the smilie image shows instead of the text string for the smilies? I guess I'm asking for more RTE features in the quick edit box if the user is using the RTE. Now that I think about this, I guess this is a feature request when I thought it was a defect when I first posted this.

Merge Members
by Guest krocheck- 18 replies

There are many times where I find that a member has registered twice. I never end up deleteing the non-used account because that member has made a few posts in it. I would like to be able to merge posts from multiple users to one and the delete the left-over (empty) accounts. Keith

Interactive 'converge'
by Guest Wolfie- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
Maybe it's already possible, if so, please tell me how  Ok, taking the idea of converge but to a slightly higher level. For log-in authentification, be able to specify an external (interactive) method. Put in the URL of the external site's authentification URL, then a field for a user ID & password. Then when it gets used, the external site, upon getting activated on the url with the information, returns back limited information on the account (if both the system id/pass and the user id/pass match). Sort of the way it's done now, except that the external site does the database work so that it's password & stuff is kept localized instead of having to …

Few more ideas
by Guest Dlf- 2 replies

I don't know how in the word, but I have WAY to many ideas in my head about features Brandon (IF) or Matt (IPB) could implemete into the system. :P ON TO THE REQUESTS i SAY :P [*]1, IP (internet_protocol) "ban" (for ACP) - Does what it sounds like, it allows the ROOT admin to IP ban people from access of the ACP. Yes I know of what if there IP change to that of one of the one's you banned; could it possibly be (addded}made) where the forum checks the IP of the admin (if he's logged into the forum) and just "waviers" the IP ban (just for him) if his IP is in the range of the banned IP. [*]2. ROOT, no ban - (sorry if already added/comming). This would mak…

PHP Info
by Guest cooldude7273- 10 replies
- 3.9k views
If you open up a 2.0.x admin cp, there is a "PHP Info" choice at the top left. This little page has been very helpful with debugging php issues I have had. I would really like to see it return in 2.1. There is plenty of space for a little "(Info)" option next to the PHP version in the 2.1 acp. Please consider it. Thanks!

AOL Hometown

Either a separate product that can easily integrate with the forums, or an add-on module for use with the forums. Preferrably one that can be separate but made to use the forums database (if one is available), that way (as an example), a subdomain like "members.dacity.com/Wolfie" could be used, or optionally, "forums.dacity.com/index.php?automodule=pages&uid=1" (or automodule=pages&uid=Wolfie) AdminCP: Option to turn it on/off/auto (auto would turn it off if the board is turned off for any reason) Allowed content (.mov/.jpg/.mid/java/etc) layout/skin (so the admin can have their site shown with the page) available layouts the members may use (like predefined ta…

Alternate to loading global cache's
by Guest Luke- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
For those of you that are aware of my moderator center, atleast the new version, it requires that it's cache is part of the global cache's. In index.php there is a line which lists and combines cache names to load. To include my cache as a global cache, its name has to be included... Or so I thought. Here's the idea: Add a column to the cache_store table called "cs_global". If a cache has this set to "1" then it means it must be loaded as a global cache, and if set to "0" it means it will be loaded when the module loaded (as normal). So then when IPB loads the global cache's you can have it load all the cache's with that value set to 1, rather than by the specific names…

PHP BBCODE Highlighting.
by Guest Jamie Chung- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but it would be pretty nice to have a php highlighter in bbcode format. It would come in handy since it highlights also indead of using the plain code color. Could this be implimented in 2.1? :-" For example: <?php echo "HIGHLIGHT ME"; ?> P.S. Where is the code button anyways? :shifty: Testing to make sure it still exists

Title/Desc on same line in topic view
by Guest //Nathan- 9 replies
- 2.2k views
I was just thinking, one thing that has always annoyed me with IPB is how there is a Topic Title and Topic Description. That alone I got used to quick enough, but what bugs me is how it looks good when you're writing the topic (one above the other), looks good in the forum view (same), but then you go into the topic and they're on the same line, separated by a comma. Sometimes it looks OK, but sometimes it looks like crap, especially when punctuation is involved. I'm sure it's a matter of taste, but my suggestion is that the title/description bar be double-height, maintain the one-above-the-other order (for the sake of uniformity if nothing else), and maybe have some …

Calender
by Guest mprowler- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
It'd be great if there was a function where I could add multiple calender events at once, just basically doing everything like the current system, except having multiple sets of the add new event page on a single page, and saving events to different dates with a single save, that'll save a lot of time for me as I need to add all school events to the calender.

Users online - how long ago instead of time
by Guest tranceandy- 1 reply

In the users online section of the board statistics, at the bottom of the forum, I would like it if when you hovered your mouse over a name instead of saying the time they were last active, it displayed how man minutes ago (like it does with topics in forums) :D Sorry if it has been suggested already

Posts shown user preference
by Guest George the Flea- 1 reply
- 1.6k views
I'm a user from an Invision board (here), and the board admin there told me that he didn't know of any way to set default "view topics from past xx days" settings. I had expected there to be an option within a user's preferences to set a default value (be it 30 days, 60 days, all, whatever), but this turns out not to be available. However, poking around your boards here, I noticed that some forums default to 30 days (like all of the forums on the board I frequent), and at least one of them defaulted to "Show all." If there is a way to set different defaults for different forums, I would love to tell the board administrator since that would be a good quick fix. I wou…

Optional IP Login Check
by Guest scylla- 1 reply
- 1.4k views
I think that this should be a feature available to all users. For example, an admin creates the board at home, but when he/she gets to work, it wont allow login to admin cp. But turning this off would allow them to login no matter whey they are. I think that it should be optional for situations just like this. OR Incase someone only uses their homecomputer & wants added security, they can turn it on if they are afraid of someone hacking their account or whatever.
