Links might not be removed on topic delete
by Guest K. T. Walrus- 1 reply
- 1.4k views
The mechanism for looking up links when deleting a topic could result in broken links remaining. The implementation stores "tid&fid" in the moved_to field of the topic link and then when deleting a topic, the topics are searched for any links that have "tid&fid" in them where the fid is the forum_id for the forum containing the real topic. Problem is that the real topic could have been moved twice or more leaving multiple links. The implementation will only find the last link. You probably should use LIKE to find all the links for the real topic as if you allow deleting a topic leaving a dead link, anyone that clicks on the old link will get a "broken" e…

Missing "leave link" option in multi-topic move
by Guest K. T. Walrus- 1 reply
- 1.8k views
The multi-topic move form is missing the option to "leave links". I suppose this is due to having to handle "links" to "links" if one of the topics that is selected to move is itself a link. But, one can create a MM action that can move multiple topics leaving a link for each topic. Such a MM action doesn't do anything to handle moving a link, you just end up with a link to a link to a topic. You should probably test if the topic you are moving is a link and if so, check that the real topic is not in the destination forum already or that there is not already a link to the real topic in the destination forum. If either is the case, the link that is being moved…

Chat features
by Guest Wolfie- 0 replies
- 1.3k views
a couple of small but potentially useful live-chat related features.. 1. Invite to chat - when looking at someones profile, if you are in the chat, you can click a link (maybe with a pop up to confirm it) to invite the person to the chat, so it'd be like an automated PM that would just notify the person that they've been invited to chat. 2. "In chat" - when viewing topics, if a person is in the chat, perhaps a macro (like the online/offline one) that would tell if someone is in the chat or not. Maybe even using and changing the online/offline status one itself, to be "offline/online/in chat"

"Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder" Auto-Se
by Guest KyanVrezpor- 6 replies
- 2.3k views
I don't know if this is planned for 2.1, but one thing my members found irritating was the necessity to check the: "Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder" box every time they sent a message if they wanted to save it. In the old versions of IPB, you could set it to be automatically checked. Could you either restore this functionality, or have a function in the ACP which makes it so that sent messages are always saved in the Sent Items folder? Thanks :)

Hello! Sorry for my English but I'm from Austria! It would be very fine if the complete Forum is better for searchengines - I mean mod_rewrite like here http://www.tunsty.net and the title should use a <h1>...</h1> tag and so on... Would be very nice Thank you! Greetz Koly

New "New Topic" Button Request
by Guest • Jay •- 11 replies
- 3.3k views
After taking on board some information posted by other customers, I have modified my request so that it no longer fits in the same topic. You can find the original topic here If a member or guest does not have correct permissions to start a new topic or reply in a topic (where the topic is still technically open to those with permissions), I think it'd be good if the new topic or reply buttons were grayed out, but still provided the current error page. That way, people familiar with the forum software would know that the grayed out button means they aren't allowed to post, and those who are not still receive the error message so they aren't left wondering why they ca…

How about being able to log in on another website which is protected via ssl? With this scenario there would not be any clear text password sending via the internet.

Password Request - Email
by Guest StephenH- 6 replies
- 2.1k views
Why not allow users to request their "lost password" by either entering their username (at it currently is), or their email address associated with the account. I have had the issue on forums before, where I cannot remember my username, and they do not have the "enter your email address" for password recovery, and I am stuck. I think this would be a useful feature myself... Feedback appreciated.

When we get complaints from users that the can't upload attachments, most of the times it is becuase they uploaded to much. As an admin it would be easy to see how much a user used, and on what. And the ability to clean it up.

Lock Accounts After "x" Failed Logins For "x" Mins 1 2
by Guest Logan- 43 replies
- 12.2k views
We really need this feature to add to the security of our board, Matt said he was considering adding it but in case it's forgotten or not sure how to be implemented. I will post a feature request for it (I also posted a mod request for this at IZE in case this isn't in 2.1): Purpose: To lock accounts after a certain amount of failed logins have been reached due to an incorrect password, for a certain amount of time. Features: Be able to set the amount of failed logins it takes to lock the account (ACP setting). Be able to set the amount of minutes the account stays locked for after the amount of failed logins has been reached (ACP setting). Be able to display a message…

"Add Topic"- & "Add Poll"-Buttons
by Guest rooobin- 5 replies
- 3.3k views
Hello, i really would like to let disappear the buttons "Add Topic" or/and "Add Poll" at the topic list of a forum if the viewing user hasn't the permission to submit a topic. it just makes the whole design bigger without any use and users get distracted by thinking they can post a topic - but then only get an error page.

E-Mail Address = Log In Name
by Guest .John.- 17 replies
- 5.7k views
To keep things easy with the use of 2.1's Display Name function, I'd like to have everyone login using their e-mail address (setting used in "Converge Setup") - but the problem is they still technically have to have a log in name. So I'd like to see the option (whether it be in Converge Setup, or wherever) - to remove the "Enter your Log In Username here:" and just have the registration form make the e-mail address as the official Username - still leaving them to chose the display name. Hopefully this makes sense, if not - let me know and I'll try to clarify.

Few ideas
by Guest Dlf- 4 replies
- 2.1k views
1. File manger - Does what it sounds like. It manges the files of the forum, telling you what sizes the avatars and the rest of the images are. This might be good if the forum's run on another server and the host wants to limit how much bandwidth is given to the hostists(?). Here are a few screen shots of the file manager of IF. 2. Temp Delete - Does what it sounds like again. This would temporaily keep images and other things in another place for x amount of time. This would most likely be good for admins who accidently delete a image or something and not meaning to. That's all that I have right now. I'll probley come up with more later.

Member SubGroups
by Guest Wolfie- 6 replies
- 2.3k views
Prenote: Not requesting this for v2.1.x, as this would require a bit more than a couple of extra lines of code. This is more for v2.2.x or v3.0.x Ok trying to keep it simple. Yes I know that you can hide member groups, override permissions, use the secondary member groups (at least starting with v2.1), however this could be overly useful: Figure 1: Members Newbie Novice Regular Experienced Windbag General Technical Support Entertainment Public Relations Ok looking at figure 1... Let's say that I have Abe in SubGroup Novice, Ben in Windbag, Charlie in Support and David in General. [*]Forum Moderators(etc) In that case, for member group listings, Abe and Ben wou…

Partial Birthdates
by Guest Jorrit787- 7 replies

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, or if it has been left out on purpose, but I would like to be able for people to submit partial birthdates. For example, people who don't want others to know how old they are/are going to be can just list the day and the month.

Emoticons
by Guest Starnox- 1 reply
- 1.6k views
I think it would be cool to have the admin of the board setup emoticon groups/packs for users to select between within their control panel. Not sure how easy it would be to implement, but would be a nice feature if you want different styles of emoticons to choose from.

JPGs in a post
by Guest DennisM- 4 replies
- 2.2k views
I am a neophite board administrator, but a pretty savvy basic IT person. Can someone tell me a straightforward way to include a jpg that has already been uploaded to the server, in the body of a post... so that it can be viewed "on the board" not in a new window. The best I've been able to achieve is for my Members to click on "attachment" whci of course opens a new window for viewing. Anybody?
