Better ban list support!
by Guest power2600- 1 reply
- 1.7k views
In the ban area of IPB1.3 you can mass add and edit hole lists. But in 2.1x there is no way to mass add a list of ip's emails, or names!!! There sould be a way to mass add and mass edit in IPB 2.1x It would also be nice is there was a way to sort through ip's, emails, and names. A-Z 1-# etc... Or take out duplicates. Have a watch list. Ex. You add there ip, email and name, it dose not ban them but gives you notice when they try to register. And lets admins keep a close watch on people they think are up to no good. This is a hot topic as you can see on .invisionize with well over 1,500+ views! http://forums.invisionize.com/index.php?showtopic=104782 ============== If …

by Guest TCWT- 0 replies

It'd be neat if there is a button somewhere to turn on/off of highlight of the keywords on the topic when doing a search. This way, no need to remove the query on url and reload the page.

Plugin System?
by Guest Sinistra- 6 replies
- 3.1k views
Not to say anything bad about how hacks are installed on IPB. but maybe a plugin system like vB. make it easy for those that don't know how to hard code a modification into the board script I use to have vB but switched back to IPB for its support and alot flexible then vB. so I think aaddig in a plugin system will help. Better gallery and blog installs throught hte pughin system will cut down on support tickets and all that

Word filter groups
by Guest power2600- 0 replies
- 1.6k views
I am not quite sure is this is all ready in the new copy of IPB but I do not think it is. Anyways, here is the thing I use the word filter not just for bad words, but also as a spell/grammar check, and to change abbreviations and slang. ex lol = Laughing out Loud I made a simple system so members could us they if they wanted to by adding a z first So zlol = Laughing out Loud However, just lol would stay the same. I also made a fix for bad grammar ex. i = I So i am so cool because i am the best! = I am so cool because I am the best! I use to use filter for spelling as well but I added my own php spell check that dose the job now. Here is one of my ideas that could wor…

It would be very nice if admins could choose to apply also the word filters to usernames when members are registering, not only the banned usernames list. Thanks!

Hello ! I have a very simple suggestion : I would like the Invision Power Board to have a search engine that would be able to search for 3 letters words (without having the server load to rise too high). Is it possible ? Thank you ! :)

Anti-Virus Check
by Guest Digi- 22 replies
- 6.2k views
This is a topic for feature expansions to the IPB Anti-Virus Check. Feel free to post your other suggestions here :) My suggestion is that the anti-virus check has an option added to mark a file safe. For instance, we are running the ineo RC and the scan comes back saying that the language file for this component is possibly a virus file, though it has a low score of 4. I can just imagine what a pain it would be to look at this page once an admin has installed multitudes of modifications or components to their site. The biggest down-side to this would be that it would make it easy, for those that are able to infect a site, to mark themselves as "safe" by running a query…

Just one simple thing
by Guest Dlf- 1 reply
- 1.7k views
Just one simple thing i'd like to see in 2.2. if the abilitly to make it so forums (when viewing sub forums) can be 'invisable' (I'll show a pic): What's shown above is what I want, groups can view (or not view) fourms yet see the main forum. Would this be possible for 2.2? Or if it's possible in 2.1.x, how?

ACP - Chmod Check

Just another small security tool to go with the other recent additions to the ACP... I'd like to see a script check the chmod permissions of the board files/folders to ensure all is how it should be.

A tool to configure a menu on the board
by Guest SecondSight- 5 replies
Hello ! On my board, I have or am going to have : - a gallery ; - a chat ; - a blog system ; - a links system ; - a download system - a wiki system ; - and IPD. I' will be happy because my site will have all the necessary features that my web site needs. But : in addition to "My controls", "View new posts", "My assistant", "Help", "Search", "Members", "Calendar" and other already existing links at the top of the page, I think all these links are going to make a lot of links all at the same place. I don't understand a lot about CSS, PHP and the rest. So is it possible to create a system of menu that the admin could configure or something that would allow him…

"my treads" and "my posts"
by Guest MindTooth- 24 replies
- 7.9k views
Greeting, I might have an idea that this subject ha been talked about before. But couldn't find it by a search. So this is my future suggestion for IPB. Having a link called "my treads" would help alot finding which treads you partisipated in, and a link called "my posts" to see what posts you have submitted. (i have a bad english, so please excuse me)

Subscribed Topics
by Guest Crath1829- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
I am a active member of a site that sadly uses VB and I seem to find the subscription feature very useful. When you reply in a topic that autmatically subscribes you a topic. Not the email type subscribe, but there is a list on the usercp homepage where it shows all your subscribed topics ordered from most current active to least. Under the title there is a link to unsubscrive. It also shows the icon telling you if there has been new posts made or not. It think this should be done and replace "recently viewed topics" in the usercp w/ this :) my 2 cents

Plugin 'Hooks'
by Guest Pete Walker- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
I found an old topic about this, but I think it's a point worth raising again. I've worked with both Wordpress and MediaWiki recently, and I noticed that their plugin systems are very very user-friendly to install and maintain... why? Because they offer a 'hooks' system for plugins. I personally think that IPB should offer a more widespread option to include this, as the components system and backend API, whilst helpful, do not offer the same flexibility that many modders currently find by making direct edits to a file. Obviously there's potentially a very high number of places within the code where hooks could be placed, and I'm not asking for you to cover every one of t…

[-] and [X] buttons ?
by Guest forums.bd- 2 replies
- 1.8k views
instead of having to select posts first and then choose an option, why not put these two buttons? [-] and [X] side by side? [-] will "hide/unapprove" the post. and clicking [X] will move the post to designate trash can forum? also when [-] is used initially, then there needs to be another logical buttons. one is [+] will undelete/unhide the post. the part in italics are valid only after using [-] option. i hope my message is clear to understand. thanks. the idea is similar to using this button. . that's how it could be implemented.

Edit Custom Member title via profile
by Guest Logan- 3 replies
- 1.7k views
Would be nice if you could edit a user's custom member title via their profile instead of having to go into the ACP to do it. I think that's the only profile field that has to be edited from the ACP? Odd. Any reason why it's currently set like that?

Adding Pictures directly from the gallery as attachement
by Guest OnlineAlien- 2 replies
- 1.8k views
Since uploading pictures with invision board don't get resized but they do with the gallery option. It would be better if people could choose to add attachements from their gallery... This way, i could promote them to use the gallery option to add pictures... And also the option that users can only post pictures using the gallery option and then choose their attachement from a gallery listing thx

Moderators in Forum Index
by Guest n-k- 2 replies
- 1.9k views
Right now, moderators are only shown in the board index below the subtitle. This means, that if you want to find out who a forum is moderated by, you have to go to the parent forum and look at the description, which is pretty counterintuitive. Why don't you put this information directly into the forum index, like most other forums do?

Edit rollbacks + moderation control
by Guest JayX- 1 reply
- 1.5k views
I think set staff of a site (ie via a flag in usergroup setup) should be able to rollback edits in order to see what the user has decided to remove. Ie a user might state something offensive, annoy a lot of people then remove it before anyone has had chance to report it. If a tag came up on every post that had an edit applied to it , the admin/mod could then see a history of that post (ie all revisions, and who did what..) Real world example - 2 mods were seen active at a time when a guest post (hence not editable by the original user) had its contents changed to something of a questionable taste. original poster claims it wasn't him, and it must've been one of the two …

Thread Open From / Unitl additions
by Guest JayX- 0 replies

Not sure about Thread Open From, but Thread Open Until has no indication of this fact to the users.. maybe some icons with a mouseover for until date? Just something so people are very aware the post will auto close, and won't get confused when it shuts down for no reason.

IP reuse report
by Guest softwarenerd- 1 reply
- 1.6k views
Right now the system allows one to report on a particular IP. The forum we run has a lot of political and philosophical debate, so we often have people who change IDs and come back with a new persona. Often they don't know enough to come back with a different IP. I'd like to see a feature that does not require Admins to be so proactive. I'd like to see an ACP option that produces an "IP-reuse Report". The Admin will specify a range of dates. The system will examine all IPs from Posts, Votes and Registrations in that date-range, check if they have been reused by another member any time in the past, and produce a report of the ones that have been reused.

by Guest Advanced_Guest- 2 replies

What about adding feature, that allows to add moderator to specific forum, and all subforums of it? same with deleting, like: "delete all moderator privileges for user NAME" This can be handy in forums where is a lot of subforums.

When making a new subscription package, in addition to changing the user's primary usergroup there also should be options to give a user secondary permission masks and secondary groups. Of course when it expires remove what was given by the package.
