ACP Restrictions

I have just noticed to my horror that (i think?) the ACP Restrictions feature can only be used on an individual basis. Any chance of being able to (also) set ACP permissions via usergroup, it will save people alot of time. Sorry if this has already been suggested, i havent had time to look. Thanks! :D

Following on from the topic about allowing an admin / global mod to set a topic on unapprove in the dropdown... I was thinking perhaps an option could be added (acp switch obviously!) when an admin / mod posts a new topic to close after x posts ? (The option would be on the post screen itself when posting a new topic) Any thoughts ? (and yes i know there are mods probably available to do this but i think this could be more useful than the set topic open / close times) :)

I think there should be some custom blocks which can be added or subtracted by the actual user on their profiles. Dragged and dropped, etc etc... I guess similar to how blog works, where people can arrange things. I am not sure what exactly the choices would be, but I was just moving things around on my "my yahoo" page, so it just amde me think of IPB. I don't have any specific idea about it, just figured maybe someone else would have an idea based off of this. lol

Suggestion for IPB :) I think that upload limits should be adjustable per file type (probably could be added to the edit attachment type screen) , or at least per file type group (images / compressed files) etc Reason... Its very sensible to have this adjusted per file type. Its too restrictive to have it too low as sometimes members might want to upload say a 2mb zip or something but you wouldnt want them to upload a huge 2mb jpeg. This is something i do hugely miss from VB.

Resizing uploaded images

It would be nice if a size limit (as in the pixel size of the image) could be set for uploaded images to save space and make downloading quicker. It could automatically resize images that are too big.

On the profile view, putting the rating underneath the Personal Photo makes it look like you're rating the photo, not the member as a whole. I think that's not a good spot to put the rating. Hate to say this but I've seen many members with a very low rating with their photos looking bad, on the other hand, member's with good looking photos have a high rating. I don't think this is a coincidence.

Why has the quote info been simplified?

It used to be that if you quoted someone, in addition to their display name, it would also display the time of the post. It seems that with 2.3.x, it's been simplified to just the display name. Any reason for this?

I believe IPS is a great company, and I support it as much as I can. I've watched the company evolve, and I feel very much apart of it. The software has gone from something messy, compared to todays standards, to something that is, for the most part, organized and very functional. I understand that it takes time to improve certain elements, and things certainly have improved. The AdminCP gets better and better with each update, the posting box has immensely evolved, and many other things have changed. Change gmdate() to strftime()! Hi! Finally updating to 2.2 and realizing that I think this should be a feature! Why not really? Searched the forums here and saw that a few people have made the same request, but I thought I would write a new topic and voice this request again! :) Also with the help of setlocale(LC_TIME, "swedish"); I can get everything in a Swedish format! But why couldn't one have this connected to whatever language pack one is using? At least I plan to mod it so... I took an idea from Luke but some of these things need to be done in the future or for a next release. - Could you please make the year in birthday optional + have an option in AdminCP to hide a person's age and year to the public for everyone. I don't have a problem with displaying my age, but I don't want guests seeing it or I don't want to input the year because people are biased about how old someone is ect, and some people don't want to display their actual age if they are "old" (<= 30 :rolleyes: ). Okay i run a design zine, and use WordPress for the main zine front, and IPB for the community side of things. But i am starting to hate WordPress as it lacks certain features, would IPD be able to replace WordPress? In that it can have proper posts in categories, with RSS feeds, tags, etc Plus when is this software being released? I was told last year!

Prune a forum by date?

I know there is a mass prune/move option on the forum... But is there an option, at all, to prune the forum by date? Let's say I want to keep all posts that have been replied to within 6 months, but the rest I want deleted... (essentially deleting the tail end pages of the forum). There is no easy way of doing this other than making a manual query?

Joomla recently introduced a nice little java applet to change font size, and it's been a common feature on blogs for a while. Accessibility is a real concern. Older visitors, or those with poor eyesight may have difficulty reading the default font. FireFox allows the font to be re-sized, but IE does not. Increasing the default font size, will create even more complaints. It's impossible to keep everyone happy. A simple font size selector would be a welcome feature.

Am i allowed to run a few IPB forums as long as there running on a LAN webserver thats not accessible anywhere besides my home? Or weather accessible on the internet or not i can't run more then 1 regular board and 1 test board? Of course the IPB boards on my LAN will only be accessible by me? So can I or can i not?

I am greeting, today i have noticed the modified footer of the forum on IPB on one forum which is holding a licence: A tag was added up nofollow. With my sentence this breaking of the licence since there is no chance of the modification of the footer, but it more using of this tag. I would like to acquaint myself with your sentence for this subject. Whether it is worth writing ticket for IPSu with this information? ^_^

I was going through how the PM system works... One thing I can't understand is why in "msg_cc_users" in the "message_text" the member's name is stored there. When the PM is read it seems to go through these and fetch the member ID's... The member ID's are not stored along with it... So it isn't a matter of caching the data... Because of how it is stored, what happens if the display name or login name is changed? Either it no longer knows who it is anymore, or if another account has this name it will associate it with that ID. Why not just store the member ID's instead and fetch the display name? That way no matter if the login name or display name changes the associatio…

Invision Power Board is beyond the greatest of all Forums. I think that a couple things will make your customers much happier. Things like, more Custom BBCodes/Special Items, more Emoticons/Smilies, more Fonts, more Colors etc..etc.. When I first got into the IPB Community, I knew nothing. I wanted more smilies, fonts, colors and BBcodes/Special Items. I eventually had to look it up and found some sites. I still dont know how to add Fonts and Colors or think its possible. I think that if you gave people a start of at least 100+ smilies, more fun and unique BBCodes/Special Items, interesting Fonts and Colors, people would be much more happy and would have a better start…
