More Flexibility With User Groups

There are a lot of controls on the size of posts (in kbs) but they all affect the entire member group. I would love to see the ability to select specific controls per user group. For example Size of post in characters/words or KBAble to post images: yes/noAble to post links: yes/noNumber of posts per day allowed: set specific numberAbility to edit title (rather than going with post count).Etc. My apologies if any of these have been introduced since v. 2.1.7 (which is what I'm currently using).

Suggestion: Portal plug-in

I think the Portal plug-in by bfarber, which adds a ton of great functionality to the portal, should be included in the IPB core. I mean, why not? It's an awesome, unique feature and a great alternative to the main forum index. Plus, as of now, the plug-in is outdated and doesn't function out-of-the-box with IPB 2.3.

Email problem

I originally bought my IP address with an email address that was removed when i changed my home ISP provider, however i have just purchased the IP Blog module with my new email address however i have hit a problem ive wrong upload the files into an incorrect location which as knocked the forum offline, my issue is i cannot log on to download the the IP Board software to reupload because i cannot remember the password and also cant have a password sent because that email account no longer exists. The announcements that can be added thru my controls have dissapeared. I go to my controls and they are there and I can edit and save, but they wont show in the forums. They have no dates, so they dont have expiration date. Can someone help? Thanks

A few of my users are asking for this feature to be added either to Profile page or to the My Controls: Although a good amount of tracking can be done with the e-mail subscriptions, they would rather be able to flag messages they like and view them on a single page because they may not always be able to access e-mail subscriptions (on a public terminal, or away from the office, or in an office that doesn't allow forum subscriptions on company e-mail system while also not allowing webmail access for security reasons)

I never really understood how this made it to be a standard feature... I can see the value of it as a modification but i dont think many people do actually use it... Just seems a bit pointless it being there, so (imo) im suggesting it be removed for 3.x.x (if not before) , there are a few more useful things that could be put there if needed... :) *and yes i know i can simply chop it out the skin* :P

Before I bought IPB, I was told that it was extremely easy to use for beginners, and that if you found anything difficult, there were guides to use that would help you out. All I want to do is use my own domain which I bought from 1and1.co.uk. I've changed the nameservers in my DNS settings, so that part is done, and next I was told I needed to change the address in conf_global.php, but I have no idea where that is. I just found out its in Cpanel, and so I went there, and things are now even more complicated as there is all this stuff about PHP sql and all other complicated stuff which I have no idea about. Anyway, I read the help files about how to use your own domain…

I asked over at IPS Beyond how I would go about using my own domain for my new forum, and this is the reply I got. From that, I need to find out my server's I.P address, but I dont know how I would do that. So im asking how do I do that? Lol. :P Also, is there an easier way of using my own domain than the above? OK well this forum software has gotten me mad so far. Anyway's how do i install a theme... I already did it on admincp styles management... did all that junk... but when I finished install it says "Blue-BlackSkin(Import). So I test it and its missing all images... so I go to my ftp and check the folder named "Blue-BlackSkin" and its empty.. then i click on "1" and it has many images.. so I know its the images... but the theme I got doesnt come with images!!!!!!!.. I mean like what the...... only comes with 2 zipped zml files, and font, and emotions folder.. no images... so someone please explain to me how to install and upload a theme.. <_<

Hello :) I'm using IPB v2.1.6. I want to go back through several years of membership and find out: 1. Which members have been inactive after registering; 2. Which members were banned for being spammers - before and/or after they got their first post in; 3. From those category's of members from 1. and 2. when they registered and when they were banned 4. Fonts usage in capcha

I once read something like this already on these forums I believe, but cannot find it anyway nor on IPBeyond... Since the latest upgrade I've done the fonts that are being used in the capchas are blurry. Even with new fonts uploaded & the option selection in ACP to use the fonts, no changes do happen in the capchas. It's just like the ACP option doesn't really works. Any way to sort this out so the text inside the capchas are once again clearly to be seen (with or without the use of extra fonts) Kind regards Tom

Hello, My friend asked me to search some information/help on an issue (for certain reasons, she is unable to do so herself, for the time being). Long ago, she had IPB v2.1 installed, then when v2.2 came out, the license would have expired but she renewed it. (It expired for her again, just before v2.3 came out but she finally decided not to renew it, see reasons below.) Hi, I have a suggestion for the Components page of IPB's AdminCP: On the left side is a block for each component. Can you make them drag and drop like blog content blocks so that you can re-order them according to personal choice? Or even just have move up and down buttons on them to re-order them?
