New Calendar Features?

The calendar is one of our most important features. My clubs board uses the calendar for members to see the monthly events, which by the way may include over 50-60 monthly events, our members actually patrticipate in these events and the features of the calendar are important.. Only one person is allowed to edit add/change events, this would be our activities officer. In e-mail we can automatically add all sent items in the sent items folder. It's easier than checking each time.

In August of 2005, I purchased an IP.Board for my website. Due to many events in my personal life that prevented me from actively maintaining my website and continually renewing my IP.Board License, my website remained on IP.Board 2.0.4. Due to the massive ammount of known security holes in this version, my website was subject to several attacks and was recently suspended due to the security risks the board posed to my webhost's server. After being notified this issue existed, I proceeded to contact IPS customer service in order to renew my license and install an updated version of the board to prevent this type of issue. Hi :) When you click on search (in the right corner of your board) in a forum there is a little box which says "search this forum only". That's really great. But I'd like it to do the same when you are in topics: "search this topic only"... instead of also saying forum there. Regards, Rasmus

I was looking through the default Help articles on IPB and the content there is minimal, incomplete and simply dire. For IPB 3, I would like to highly suggest a few people are dedicated to writing professional, comprehensive help articles on the board and the components. If that can't be done, maybe let the community write it for you. I don't know, I just think that the current documentation is pretty terrible for helping people with the vast array of IPB features. This has probably been posted before anyways. Please consider it. :) Cheers.

Not sure where to file this , ipb or ipgallery What I'm after is the following When making a post, is there an option or a mod that when you click will allow you to insert images from your gallery? Just like the "insert link" button or "insert image" button - although this only works on external images If not, can this please please please be a feature of 3.0 I can get around it by either adding a link direct to the gallery image or creating an iframe (yes I do use them, they can be useful in certain circumstances) this is very difficult when adding more than one image.

I'm aware that licenses w/upgrades last 6 months. Here's my question. Say a license expired the day after IPB 2.3.0 was released. That would make 2.3.0 the latest version accessible via said license, right? Obviously there were bugs in 2.3.0, fixed in later versions. Would the owner of the aforementioned license be entitled to bug fixes, or simply be stuck with a broken version of IPB?

Improving the UserCP splash page

I've been thinking lately that it might be more friendly to redirect users to a personalized splash page after logging in, as opposed to the board index. Think along the lines of a user's main homepage on Myspace or even the UserCP splash page (only much more hooked into the user's participation on the forum/site). Now I know I said the "M" word - but please don't be scared. I'm not suggesting top friends, bulletins or friend trains. :P Most people just click "View New Posts" after logging in anyway, rather than sorting through each forum on the board index one by one. Hello. I think it is a important point for developing. Not any one board has a good internal search engine. If you have large boards, it's a problem for members to find the right topic. That is the point where you can work on it! Make improvements to the search algorythm. Make custom profile fields searchable. Make the topic description searchable. Thats the weakest point at every board, the search engine. You can be the first one that kick ass. ^^

It'd be so awesome if the PMs could be setup to be like a conversation, much like google's Gmail system. It's much more organized :D Also, there should be an icon for "replied PMs". I don't know why this was left out. :(

Hi, As lot of suggestions may have been overlooked due to the huge length the suggestions topic I thought i'd write some of my latest suggestions here to see what you think: Similar Topics Having Similar Topics listed under the thread, where the ammount to be shown is configured via the Admin control panel. Auto Email a user on their Birthday What a really nice touch it would be if in V.3.0 you could build into the functionality the ability for the Forum to Email a user on their birthday. It would be an automated message, I know other forums do this and I think it would be a really nice touch. Also it reminds them about the forum if they have been absent for a while…

Moderator Group Color

A good feature would be moderator group color baced on forum. For example, you can make staffs usergroups colored. A good feature to add is if someone is only a regular moderator, then when they post on a forum that they are not a moderator of, their group color is one color, but on the forums that they are moderator it is a different color. So simply, instead of moderators having X color on all forums, they only have that color on forums that they have permission on.

On a very large forum I often visit gathering.tweakers.net they haven a cool feature called bookmarks. You can bookmark a topic and even single posts. When I visit that forum I press "Bookmarks" and get a screen like "new posts" on ipb but then only the bookmarked topics. On this screen I can sea quickely if a topic was replied to. :cool:

I often get emails from people who are having some kind of problem with the forum whether it's registering, validations, having been banned etc and they use the link on the error page to do it. Rarely though do they provide all the necessary details to help them out. Would it be possible to have the email contents automatically populated with whatever details are available including the forum URL (for those people with more than 1 board), login and registered email address if they've validating or banned but logged in or any other available information? Most times when I get an email I have to reply back asking for more details.

I am not sure if this has been suggested or not. Could the PM system be made like gmail or the regular forums? In otherwards if you reply back to someone then you would see their reply below yours as well as any previous PM's in the chain. This could be an option to turn on or off. Seems like it would be useful. Thoughts?

I think if your forum can let member vote topic that they like and will automatic pin when that topic have the member many vote. It should separate from normal pin because sometime the topic which I pin is advertisement from sponsor. Sorry for my poor English and hope this develop your forum because this is the favorite feature at my local community.
