"Conversation style" for the PM system

It'd be so awesome if the PMs could be setup to be like a conversation, much like google's Gmail system. It's much more organized :D

Also, there should be an icon for "replied PMs". I don't know why this was left out. :(

Please, please, please.

I've always wanted something like this for PM's, as I hate the traditional messaging look, GMail took me over.

There was another excellent thread similar to this, and I simply think that both are brilliant ideas that I would like to see implemented into a future version of IPB. :)

Oh man, this would be PRIME !!!!!!!!

I'm so sick of 'quote chains' (like 25 nested quote tags) in PMs

(This makes it into the 'top 3 most wanted' suggestions list of mine:
#1. moderator center feature
#2. bump me up feature
#3. gmail-style PMs)

Agreed, but...why would you want #2 (I'm assuming it's a button to bump topics?) That seems like spamming made easy.

It's funny that this topic is brought up. I believe after it was posted (unless it was farther back), the database structure of the PM system was adjusted to handle this kind of functionality. PM's were split into two tables, one for the topic and one for the message content itself. So, as it stands right now, this should be relatively simple to do. Maybe it will actually come to fruition in 3.0? :)
