  1. Thank you very much for this information. That's very helpful. Can you please stop shaking your head around. I don't know about you but it is making me very dizzy!
  2. I'm surprised there hasn't been a greater take-up of this plug-in because it's excellent and easy to configure. However, I'm trying to put a placeholder into the reported posts and I can't find the input ID. Could you help please
  3. That would probably do the trick I expect. Yes, I agree that it probably is a core software feature because as I said, this is an issue which occurs in other plug-ins where you have the option to select sub- forums. Anyway, if in a future revision you have an opportunity to select or deselect then that would be really helpful. Maybe other third-party developers could take a cue from this. Also, – maybe another feature request – is there any way to get two sliders working at the same time?
  4. I just installed this – a great plug-in, particularly because the movement on the screen is eye-catching and that's helpful. Here is a feature request – I have to say that I think it's a flaw in the implementation – but this is something I have found in other plug-ins as well where you have an opportunity to select which forums or sub- forums data will be taken from. Also, I should say that may be for most forums, this is not a problem – but in any forum which is large and which has lots of sub- forums, and this is definitely a problem – and as I've said, this exists with other plug-ins as well. When you are dealing with well over 100 sub- forums – and several hierarchies, then form selection can be made a lot easier. To start off with, it would be nice to be able to select top level forum and find all the sub- forums beneath it have been automatically selected. This doesn't happen. You can select a top level forum and all of the child sub- forums still have to be individually selected. It will be lovely to be able to select a top level forum and then to have the opportunity to deselect the forums or the sub- forums that you don't want to appear. Here's an example – and this is only a partial shot of all our sub- forums but I had to go through and manually select them all simply to exclude three areas which I definitely didn't want to appear on the slide Maybe we have too many sub- forums! But anyway, this was only about half the list. If this plug-in – and other plug-ins which permit selection of forums, could bear in mind that some very large websites could do with a way of automatically selecting child sub- forums and also of deselecting forums as well as selecting them. Other than that, the plug-in is excellent.
  5. Off-topic @Michael.J I can't find a support topic for your enhanced announcements. I've left a couple of messages for you but I don't think using them. I'm trying to restart the exchange we had about a year ago (sorry for the delay) Thanks
  6. To confirm, I've uploaded the latest version and all the conflicts seem to be sorted. However, it is now retrieving topics from 2006. I think that an ability to configure time limits is essential. For us, material from 2006 is simply of historical interest and no relevance at all 15 years on Incidentally, in terms of configuring a time limit, it might be worthwhile offering – date of first post in the topic or alternatively date of last post. If there happens to be a topic which was started in 2006 but there are still contributions now than it may well be that the topic is still relevant
  7. I'm not sure how your application identifies relevant topics – but it might be interesting to allow the application to be configured to find relevant topics based on searches simply within the title – or within the body of the thread as well. Just another possibility for another feature request
  8. Okay, question/feature requests already First of all it seems to be reaching for very far back. You will notice that the topics it is recommending in the example I posted above, as far as 2014. On the live site, I just noticed that it is now referencing topics which are posted in 2012. Might there be some way to configure a backstop – nothing further than 12 months or something like that. We are quite a dynamic forum dealing with lots of issues and advice and going far back as even two or three years, the advice might be out of date – and there's always stuff that is much more recent. Secondly, I notice that the recommended topics are listed in date order starting with the oldest first. I think it would be very handy to be able to say how we would like them listed. I would prefer newest first and work backwards – and of course other people may have different requirements. They might also prefer topics to be listed in order of author or number of replies et cetera. yes you're right. It is a setting called " Comment Count Background" - maybe you would like to put that in your instructions at some point And I've just noticed that I was wrong about the date order. It doesn't go in ascending order – but it doesn't go in descending order either. It seems to be a bit random. It would be very nice to be able to set an order
  9. Great news. It seems to work on the live site. I cleared the cache – just in case but other than that I didn't bother to enable or disable anything else. I just manually installed and nothing crashed. I configured the widget and it seems to be fine. We'll see how it behaves over the next few days. One question already though is how can I change the background colour of the little medallion/round thingy which forms the background of the number of replies? You can see that it's a bit difficult to read
  10. Please no need to apologise about any trouble. No trouble. I think that these glitches come with the territory and it is probably always the early clients who get these little niggles but that is what it takes to help sort the routine out in the end.
  11. Well done. That's great. I reactivated most of the other plug-ins on the testsite and it still working – so so far so good. Thanks for all your efforts so far – now I have to see if I can get it going on the live site. Are you saying that the version you've installed is not the same as the one on the marketplace?
  12. I've just installed your update this morning into our test site. I then cleared everything and it was working. I then started to reactivate everything and I eventually found that the plug-in – "live topics" seems to clash with it. In other words when live topics is enabled, the site crashes when you want to access a topic. I then went and tried it on our live site. I cleared the cache – and and then disabled "live topics" after having installed the most recent version of your application. I then expected it to start working based on the results from our test site. Amazingly, it didn't work. The site crashed. So it's very bizarre. There is a clash between – live topics – and your application on our test site. But on our live site, clearly there is a different clash. The only other changes that whereas with the earlier version of your application, it crashed the whole site. Now it is behaving exactly the same as with the testsite. It is crashing the topics but the front page forum view works as normal and doesn't seem to have any issues. If you want to access our test site and have a look then by all means do. However, I'm afraid that I don't think I can do any more at the moment. I'm happy to support you in trying to find out the problem and I would be happy to use your application once you understand what the problem is and have rectified it. If you haven't understood my explanation here then please let me know and I'll try to clarify.
  13. Sorry but I have no idea what's being talked about here
  14. I had rather thought that the problem experienced by @Steph40 was cleared after he disabled his plug-ins and applications, and then eventually re-enabled them – and then the system started working. I had gathered from the discussion that this was his "workaround" to getting everything working – but when he simply installed it straight on top of the existing third-party routines, it wouldn't work.
  15. @Steph40 I'd like to PM you with a list of my applications and plug-ins. Maybe you could do the same for me and we can work out if there are any third party routines which we have in common. Does that sound okay to you? I propose simply doing a PDF print out which should show you everything including whether it is enabled or disabled. I would be looking for routines which we have in common and which are enabled
  16. I just tried it on our test site and it is also crashing the site. However, is slightly different. On the live site, it crashes the site completely – not even the front end available. On the testsite, the front end is available but as soon as you go into any of the threads, it crashes the site. I can give you access to the testsite and I'm going to send you a PM
  17. Even when all the settings are switched off, as long as the application is enabled, it crashes the forum
  18. I'm sorry to say that I have just installed this and it immediately crashed the forum. Disabled it and the forum came back online. We enabled it and no forum. Tried this several times – but exactly the same. It's currently switched off. We use a standard theme with different colours which have been adjusted through the admin CP.
  19. Actually I had mixed feelings about it because it turned out that they only paid the hacker £200! I felt rather insulted.
  20. Thanks for that. I'm afraid that over the years our database has been hacked so many times either because of opportunists – or very often ill wishers – that we have had a hard job with major email providers. As it happens, a few years ago the FBI arrested a hacker in the US and when they looked in his computer, they found that he had been given a contract by a British debt collection agency to take us down. The boss of the debt collection agency was arrested by the British police and later on pleaded guilty. I have to say that the whole thing was a bit of a nuisance – although I was rather flattered and I took it as a sign that what we were doing was worthwhile! 😈
  21. I'm seeing the text highlighted – but the colour doesn't animate over the text in the way that yours does. You have to double click the word in question and then it produces a static highlight in the usual way with the three options – quote/search/search as phrase appearing underneath in the way that yours does. Actually I think it's working fine. It's simply that I hadn't understood – and to my embarrassment, this is the first time I realised that even on the standard Invision platform, if you double-click a word it invites you to "quote selection"!
  22. – Whoops!, Yes of course – plug-in settings. Sorry, it's just that the two yellows were so similar that I missed it. I changed one of the yellows to something rather more different and I can see it working now. Sorry to have bothered you on that one. Also, I see that the select search is working. I suppose that I expected the mouse pointer to change shape or something or else the text to change when it was hovered over. Further apologies! It looks really great. Might it be possible for the mouse cursor to change when it hovers over the highlighted text – or something else to give people a clue because I can expect lots of people will miss it
  23. Thanks very much. Which plug-in setting are you referring to?
  24. Hi, I've just installed this plug-in and have to say it looks amazingly well featured and sophisticated – and it's gonna take me some time to get my head round it. I'm gonna make a feature request already – although you'll probably tell me that it's there already and I missed it! When you're scrolling down the various search terms using the arrows on the right, might it be possible for the next search term to be displayed in a different colour which then reverts to the normal highlight when you want to the next one. At the moment, they all seem to be displaying in bright yellow and if you have three or four of the search terms on the same page, you can't be really certain which one you are focusing on. Secondly, at the moment I don't understand "select a search" and I'm not sure that it's working – even though it switched on in the admin CP. My forum is www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk. Thanks
