  1. Hi, I'm exploring the links directory application. It looks extremely interesting. I have some questions please: How can I configure the links directory so that it appears simply in it's own sub-forum? How can I configure the links directories so there is only accessible to certain groups? I could see that it is possible to configure categories in this way, but I don't see how to configure the entire links directory. Do you have to upload the thumbnail? Or is able simply to automatically retrieve a thumbnail image from the URL target? Also it seems that the thumbnail is not directly clickable. You have to click a link to the side of the thumbnail. Is this correct? I understand that you can configure it so that it checks each link once a week to make sure that the link is still working – is that correct? If so then that is a very awesome feature. I expect that I'll have some other questions when I have understood a little more. Thanks for helping me and for the support
  2. I'd love to see this links directory in action. The thumbnails on the marketplace are rather unclear. If anybody would care to post a link to their forum so that I can have a look at it working, I'd be very grateful. Two or three examples would be great
  3. Very relieved to see this update. We've installed it on our test site and it seems to work perfectly and has cured the problem which I posted above. Thank you. This is a really essential application – it saves endless repetitive posting and I would certainly recommend it to any site which gives advice or has lots of newbies who come in asking the same question all the time. Essential – (I said that already)
  4. it was exactly the same with me and then about 24 hours later it suddenly sprang into life – for no discernible reason. Now it works perfectly Admincp Front end
  5. @CodingJungle - any feedback on this please? Even if you can't come up with a fix immediately - simply a word about a possible update would be reassuring
  6. Hi, I've just noticed this and it looks like a great application and I'm thinking of subscribing to it. The last couple of comments concerning sending an email to somebody after a time of inactivity seems to me like a really useful feature. Maybe the most useful of all possible features. I understand that this could take a lot of processing power if it has to go through your entire database of users. We have nearly 400,000. However, I notice that you say that it needs to be triggered by a positive event rather than a negative event. Might it cut down the processing time if the positive event is somebody who was last active, say, between four and three weeks and that then begins a timer which at the expiry of four weeks then triggers the reminder email? So that the application is not going through the entire member database all the time Obviously the trigger event could be set by the forum administrator so that it begins at any number of weeks – depending on the amount of traffic coming through. There may even be something which would let the administrator know how many members a particular timer would involve any particular time. So that if I set the trigger at four weeks , anyone who visits today, would have a timer counting down and monitoring to see whether there was four weeks of inactivity. If there was four weeks of inactivity then the email would be sent out. Once that email was sent out, it wouldn't send any more unless that person came back and then there visit would be recorded as an event. Is this nonsense? I'm not a coder that I love the idea of this application and certainly sending out a message to people who haven't visited for a while would be brilliant
  7. I see this was apparently updated on Wednesday but it is still not marked as being compatible with 4.6. We still have the issue which I have flagged above are now 4.6.3 test site
  8. Amazing! It just suddenly started working. I see no reason why – nothing changed. One 24-hour since it was installed and suddenly it has leapt into life. Everything seems good. I think we can consider this query – Closed.
  9. Hi again, it's still not working on our 4.5.2 live installation. It is working correctly on our 4.6.3 test site. Here is the setting for the plug-in on the live site. You this is exactly the same setting as on the test site. We don't want it to be a sticky because it was causing problems last time for people having the ticker running past their eyes all the time. It needs to be able to scroll away with the page. We haven't upgraded to 4.6.3 yet because I'm still waiting for some support from @CodingJungle for the keywords application which is crucial to what we do. I've been putting a shout out to @CodingJungle for some considerable time now but I'm not getting any response. In fact it seems other people have been trying to get hold him as well but although he has visited this Invision site, he hasn't responded to the queries with the keyword application.
  10. I've now discovered part of the reason. Our live site isn't upgraded to 4.6.3. It is still on 4.5. So it seems to me that the ticker won't run on anybody site who hasn't done the upgrade yet. We are still testing so the ticket doesn't work on live site. I got it working on the test site with the upgrade But also it would be helpful if it would still work with 4.5. Maybe other people haven't upgraded yet or have decided not to for some reason or other. https://www.cagtest.co.uk/
  11. Hi, thanks for doing the update – but I'm afraid now it just won't work at all as a custom ticker where it used to be one of the top of the page. I've tried every permutation but it won't work. Like an idiot I didn't try it on our test site first
  12. Hi @CodingJungle could really do with some support on this please. Thanks
  13. Or an even better default position for countries might be that it remembers the last country or countries that you set, and defaults to those
  14. Hi, On a couple of occasions in the last year – or much longer than that, I'd mentioned to you that there seemed to be some problem with the announcements plug-in and that it seemed to be incompatible with the basic IPS announcement facility. I kept on saying that I would find out more about it and come back to you – but am afraid that things are extremely busy on our forum and it never became a priority. Anyway, I just had another look at it on our test site and I suddenly realised what the problem was. The enhanced announcement plug-in has a field where one can select the countries to which the announcement should be displayed. The IPS announcement facility doesn't do this. It simply displays the announcement to everyone. When you install the enhanced announcements plug-in, it introduces the country fields to all of the existing announcements – and then leaves them blank. If you switch the plug-in off, then all of the announcements revert to IPS standard and of course they all display because there is no "country" field. Immediately, because they are configured not to display to any countries, none of the announcements work. I'm afraid that I hadn't noticed this. I now understand that if you install the enhanced announcement plug-in, then you have to go to each of any existing IPS announcements, access the country field and configure it to display in the appropriate country for it to work anywhere. I suppose I should have realised – and I certainly wouldn't describe it as a plug-in glitch. On the other hand it wasn't glaringly obvious to me – and maybe others have been flummoxed by the nonappearance of their existing announcements – but then they realised what the problem was more quickly than me. Now that I've understood what I missed out, the enhanced announcement plug-in works excellently and it's very useful. So now some feature requests – more filtering, directed to members who have had a certain post count, a certain reputation count, not visited within the last N days, particular members by userid – and/or all of that. Maybe also on a new installation it should default to "all countries" rather than to "none". By defaulting to all countries, it would effectively be implementing the existing IPS announcement configurations – and then they could be altered to reflect people's requirements once they have all the enhanced choices available. At the moment, if you install the enhanced announcements, it effectively switches all of the existing IPS announcements off
  15. @CodingJungle - keywords support needed please
  16. This is very interesting. Is there any way to configure a personal data field to display the current number of reputation points?
  17. @Jordan Invision @Matt @Rikki @bfarber @Andy Millne @Stuart Silvester @Mark @Ryan Ashbrook @Ehren Hey guys – I think probably quite a lot of people would like to have the reputation points being displayed again. How about simply having a choice to switch them on or off in the same way that is now possible with the achievement system? Consistency AND Choice. – What's not to like?
  18. Blow me. You're right! I need to be more careful. That makes it a near-perfect system then. However I would really like the return of the reputation points display. As the points are still in place, I'm sure somebody will come up with a plug-in to do it
  19. I think the only tweak I'm asking is the choice to switch off for particular member groups.
  20. And the rebuilding has finished and the achievements/ranks are working correctly. Thanks very much. Maybe there are instructions which I should have read more closely. And so now here's the next thing to ask – because there's always something else. Is there any way of turning off the achievements for different groups? I'd rather not have achievements in place for the site team. And ideally I'd like to have reputation points back on display without having to interfere with the theme
  21. Thanks for this. I started running it last night on the test site. It said it will take several days!Interestingly, there is an option to switch the system on or off. Invision has actually allowed customer choice here! However no choice allowed with reputation points. The lack of consistency in this kind of thing and elsewhere – data screens for instance – makes me think that the platform is planned by different committees which never talk to each other

  23. Thanks. I understand very well how it works but I know what is going to happen when we upgrade to 4.6 – will be overwhelmed by people contacting us and asking why they been relegated to Newbies when they are long-standing members with substantial postcards. I don't think I could stand it. I think I'll wait until 4.6.3 before upgrading.
  24. I wonder what Invision are going to do about the very obvious glitch that even people with large numbers of posts are ranked as newbies on their new ranking system. This has to be a bug
