    Hello,

Just some feedback regarding your ticket system, its perfect, but as for the replies them selves, its really delays and slow, I submitted a ticket about my hosted community about a problem and by the time they replied the issue had sorted it self, I think that support responses should be faster, it ain't just because of the new release of IP.Board, as it was like this way before then.

    Just my 2 quid!

I wish someone would light a fire and release this. This is getting to be annoying to say the least. We're working with critical bugs that are fixed here but we need them fixed too. Plus members are leaving over this view new content issue. (Note just the view new posts but the entire format - topic starter - views etc). Either release 3.0.1 or tell us the code so we can put it on our boards.

So you are of the opinion that companies should not hold their customers in high regard? I would hate to deal with any company you are in charge of to be honest. "The customer is always right" is the motto I use myself when dealing with customers.

Actually they do get paid to offer a service of support if you have a current license, and companies who care about their customers treat them with respect. The company should thank their customers, not the other way around. Without the customers, the company would not exist and the employees would be looking for a job. You like the service you are getting, and I don't, agree to disagree.

Sure, my members were furious with the update and the majority complained about the "view new content" feature. They wanted the old style back, and IPS has added this back. In addition, they wanted more information with the "view new content" such as who created the thread and which forum it was created in. This appears to be back as well. This is just off the top of my head. I am not sure if they will put the "back to top" link where is used to be, but my members also complained about this too. Of course I am not happy about all of the changes or customer support, but at least for me, this update will make a lot of my members happy.

3.0.1 is looking to be a nice update. Most of the complaints from my members were addressed in 3.0.1. Great job IPS.

What I would like to see is permission masks for the Admin CP, so you can have easily have different settings for different groups of admin :)

I prefered the IPB 2.3.x version of the restrictions, it made more sense and was better organized in my personal opinion. The new one is still a tad bit confusing.

Once an administrator account has been created or even when it is being created if you wish to manage their restrictions you are given all admin options with blank checkboxes...

when creating the account wouldn't be better to have them all checked so you may uncheck those you do not wish them to have... and then also suppy uncheck / check all options?

I'm sure there are others who'll agree with me on this one... and perhaps those who don't but its my feedback so :P

While the report center shows the user who last updated the status of the report in the report list view, it doesn't show who the last person to post in the report thread is, nor is there any notification of new replies.

The system's a good idea, but it would be really nice if it behaved more like a forum.

I just noticed this. It would be stellar if it was similar to the Tracker, where updating the status was a new post and you could comment on the update.

Here's a recent post of mine in yet-another-thread complaining about this feature, where I detail my issues with "View New Content":

I've been beating this drum for a while, and on the old preview board there was a long running thread I started about "View New Content". My initial post in that thread was one of the highest voted posts I'd seen on the preview forum. Yet the "majority" of customers found the old "View New Content" confusing and wanted it changed?

Sorry, I have to call BS on this. I have nearly 20,000 members on my forum and nobody has EVER complained to me that "View New Posts" is confusing. Seriously, what the heck is confusing about it? It shows topics with new posts since your last visit! If someone finds that confusing, then it's amazing they were even able to create an account on your forum in the first place.

This is only one aspect of "View New Posts" that was changed, and I will certainly make the above change and test it to see how it compares to "View New Posts" in terms of the results being returned (topics with new posts since your last visit as opposed to "unread" topics). The display of the "View New Content" page (for the "Forums" tab) as well as the amount of information returned is still quite a bit different even with the above change.

Sure, things get changed over time and that's fine, when they are well thought out. Please, "not everyone is going to love these changes", talk about sugar coating it. Again, I can't believe that a majority of your customers requested this change. At the very least, the method by which results are returned should have been made an ACP (or perhaps user CP) option, and the display of the results shouldn't have been so drastically changed with less information.

I have had one positive comment about the new board. The rest have been nothing but complaints about view new content. I can assure you, if there had not been a change to VNP I would have members doing cartwheels and raving about the board.

This silly change has ruined a good forum. Needlessly, and no one seems to give a crap.

Same here, I have large site (1.6 million posts) and the "View New Content" issues are going to be a nightmare for me. I love most of what has been done with 3.0.0, but this one issue just boggles my mind as far as the changes made. I've posted extensively on this in the past, but Invision has been very resistant on making significant changes. Some improvements were made to the "View New Content" output to add in some of the information that was removed, but overall it's still a far cry from the 2.3.6 "View New Posts" feature and it's just going to aggravate the heck out of my userbase. I just want it to work like it did with 2.3.6--show me any new posts since my last visit, and show the same amount of information in a tabular format as before. I am not adverse to change by any means, but the changes that were made just seem like they were done so without being well thought out. This is such an important feature of forum software that it really has me looking at alternatives to IP.Board.

Yeah, this really dumbfounds me. I can't even imagine how the heck people would get confused about the old "View New Posts". I'd love to see some of those tickets. The old format is not too dissimilar from the Topics view. The new format is vastly different.

I understand from one perspective what Invision was trying to do with "View New Content" in that they wanted to blend search results from each of the different application modules. That's a noble goal, but when the search index feature was removed, the reason for having these dumbed-down search results was negated. Now that people are converting their 2.3.x boards to 3.0.0, I've seen many Invision customers complaining about "View New Content" for various reasons. I really hope Invision finally listens to their customer base and makes the necessary changes to fix this important feature. And by "fix" I mean at minimum at least revert it to the previous functionality.

    Wholeheartedly agreed.

Long before IP3 was introduced I surveyed my members on surfing habits. 56% used view new posts as there sole method for using the board. All the hard work of the development team is overshadowed by this issue. Very misguided change. Both unfortunate and unnecessary.

I've been talking about this since the first day of IP3 previews in 2008. My hunch is now supported by feedback from my membership.

View New Posts and Today's Active Posts.

View New Content is a step down from View New Posts. Not sure what prompted it but it makes no sense. People want to follow their own threads through that feature. Was it that difficult to keep their own read posts in it? I'm trying to understand the logic for making that change.

Both of the above also need reference to the original posters in threads.

Without reverting back to those features it doesn't matter how much better the rest of the board is. They immediately detract from what should be a huge leap forward.

IPB has a pets mod, look on Invisionize. I know there's one for 1.3.1, but I'm 99% sure they have one for 2.3.x.

Honestly, I'm glad vB is competition with IPB, Both are very great products. I think the number 1 reason I love IPb more is licensing. I'm still allowed to use 2.3.6, even after my support license expired. (I'll renew next month, but won't upgrade until a mod comes out that I want to use). As well, I've had stupid issues before where I thought it was a big deal, and submitted a ticket, 8 hours later, it turned out to be a "Rebuild skins" thing, and the support tech called me a "dumb dumb" and laughed about it. I love when tech support jokes around with me, vB's is just way too serious. Plus, its easy for you to post "IPB sux" on these forums, where on vB's, they take a heart attack instantly, IPS looks at it and says "Why does it suck," so they're a bit more open.

I hope Matt NEVER sells off IPS/IPB, that would kill it, lol

This is really sad. I'm all up for competition, but seeing a company being like this, I can really hope they can, and will recover. Who knows? Maybe new developers that will come about, will blow us all out of the water.

Is it possible to give an "at least" idea? Like, "It'll be at least two weeks", with the bolding intact, so if someone does fail to read that part and tries to say anything, they can be referred back to it and given a road map to a few dictionaries that explain the concept of "at least"? Meanwhile those of us who understand can say, "Ah ok, won't be before that time, but on that day OR AFTER THEN".

The "at least" idea should only be used when there is a definite known date though, and the only hold up comes down to a few things that will definitely be done before then, leaving the release up to the discretion of IPS staff.

Should just take it out completely.. Or change it to say "RC 2.1".. To confuse people.
