  1. His first post mentioned he got it off of IZE, which means he never bought the license from IPS, but rather from another user. IPS, naturally, will not issue the refund in this case. Of course, since you know that IPS stopped doing license transfers a while ago, you are fully responisble for what happened, if you cannot access the account you bought, you need to take that up with the seller, IPS can't do anything. Like Lindy said, you're much better off buying straight from the source, just like any product, you can be sure of its quality that way. For shawnking, sorry to hear about what happened, and that we couldn't be of much help. Hopefully you can get your money back from the seller!
  2. Um.... Of course they are, look at their support team, Q&A practices, etc. Name a free forum package that has 24/7 techinical support from the developers, an extensive add on community, phone support, very good turnaround times, etc. Its not cheap, and free software won't have it. IP.Blog is not standalone, as others have said. If you want standalone blogs, you'll be better off with WordPress or something similar. Also, you say he has a hosted community.. wouldn't that put you in the Active Customers group?
  3. I'm playing around with the demo, and logging into the ACP, I see.... So, will the upgrade be finished when its ready to be finished? lol
  4. IPB has a pets mod, look on Invisionize. I know there's one for 1.3.1, but I'm 99% sure they have one for 2.3.x. Honestly, I'm glad vB is competition with IPB, Both are very great products. I think the number 1 reason I love IPb more is licensing. I'm still allowed to use 2.3.6, even after my support license expired. (I'll renew next month, but won't upgrade until a mod comes out that I want to use). As well, I've had stupid issues before where I thought it was a big deal, and submitted a ticket, 8 hours later, it turned out to be a "Rebuild skins" thing, and the support tech called me a "dumb dumb" and laughed about it. I love when tech support jokes around with me, vB's is just way too serious. Plus, its easy for you to post "IPB sux" on these forums, where on vB's, they take a heart attack instantly, IPS looks at it and says "Why does it suck," so they're a bit more open. I hope Matt NEVER sells off IPS/IPB, that would kill it, lol
  5. Also, about the security audit issue, if there are other competitors getting security audits done, including the free software packages, then, do you REALLY think IPS is gonna say "We're too good for that?" If they wouldn't get an audit done, that would let the competition look better, which is never a good idea.
  6. I've seen a few forums running 3 already, and none have any problems aside from admin stupidity, lol. I'd bet for frequent updates though, 3 was completely rewritten from scratch, right? EDIT: IPS almost never gives us an estimated date, very rarely will they, and if they do, its probably wrong, so, "When it's ready" lol. I would think it'd be good to make your mod, I really doubt anything major's going to come up, a lot of bugs were squished during the beta and RC stages, and its been a long time now (What, like 6 months since the public preview opened?)
  7. If you release it on June 1st, it'll be a very nice birthday present :D But seriously, IPB 3 is getting better everyday, can't wait for it! BTW, without posting a new topic, how is the Lo-Fi skin coming along? I know some people that wanted to know about it, and I'm kinda curious myself.
  8. I'll be honest, I am one of the ones upset with having to wait. But, I'd rather pay $150 for something that WORKS and WORKS WELL than something that doesn't. I haven't beta tested since Beta 2, I didn't renew my support license because I figured I'd wait until IPB 3 is released, because, let's say I bought it in Feb, and IPB 3 wasn't released until October, that'd be a waste of $25, since I don't really use IPS' support too much. So, while I'm upset, I'll be glad when 3 finally comes out, it'll work a LOT better and faster than it does now, and will hopefully be much better than 2.3.6, so thanks IPS, for all the hard work! :D @ Lee, as far as I was told, its $25 regardless of when you renew, you're not forced to renew at the end of those 6 months, and I don't think it'd be fair to have to pay for something when you already bought it (IPB is owned, even after your 6 months is up, you're allowed to use the latest release infinately, but no future releases without renewing. vB does the leased option)
