I see I need to make a few changes to the description, thanks for making me aware!

This is already supported, and notifications should be sent automatically without any configuration. Have you tried marking a topic but didn’t receive a notification? Good idea! The default is that all groups can use the markers, but I’ll add an option to change this from the settings. I think I understand what you mean, and I’ll see if it’s possible. I’ll add it to the list of possible future features.

What’s new in version 2.0.1: The application is now officially supported on Invision Community 4.6. This was an administrative change, and no changes were needed in the actual code. Another administrative change is that the application is now completely free. More information about this can be found in this post from a few days ago. The new version also contains a few bug fixes. A more detailed changelog follows below: Improvements Simplified options related to unmarking a topic, if the topic will be unlocked when unmarked. Fixes Fixed the mark/unmark topic button being visible to guests on topics where the author was deleted. Fixed all markers in a forum being visible to everyone, even when some markers were limited to certain member groups. Fixed marker badges not being visible for members not permitted to use the marker. Simplified permission checks, in an attempt to fix reported issues with permissions.

The new version was just approved, so I guess you interpreting it as a threat was more effective. Thanks! 😁
  5. I think it all depends on your requirements, budgets, and on how much traffic you need to prepare for. My community used to be structured like in your example, with separate (virtual) servers for each service, but not too long ago I ditched this approach and moved to one larger and more powerful server. I haven’t noticed any decrease in performance, and no one has complained so far either. It has made my life easier in regard to maintenance, as I only need to care for one server instead of a handful. It’s also much easier to set up from a security perspective. Another point is that I don’t think Invision Community works too well with multiple web servers without some extra manual work. As you said, you would need to update the web servers one by one, but due to changes to the database all of them would have to be offline during the update. I'm sure it's possible, but my community, and I think this applies to most other communities as well, is simply not large enough to justify the extra work and money it would require.
  6. You need to submit a ticket from the Client Area for issues like this. Good luck!

How many life size “Daniel F” gingerbread men did we agree on to let me jump to the front of the queue? Just kidding, keep up the good work and enjoy the rest of the holidays!
  8. It appears as a new release because I edited the text description in preparation of the new version being approved. Changes to the description are approved instantly and automatically, and any changes, even just one word, makes plugins show up in the What’s New list. So I’m sorry for giving you false hope! We’ll just have to be patient, and I’m sure the new version will be approved shortly.

Hi again! I hope everything is good. Your first two points are hopefully fixed in the new version awaiting release. I haven’t been able to reproduce the first one, but I’ve made some changes to code that might be related. Statistics is on my list but will be a bit more work, but your last point (confirmation before marking) should be easy to implement. I’ll take a look when the new version is out!

Thank you, and I look forward to having you as a user! It's already possible to limit (designate) which groups are allowed to mark a topic with a marker (place the marker), and you can even let different groups use different markers in the same forum! 🙂 Regarding limiting who can view the marker, that’s actually not a bad idea and won’t require too much work. I’ll take a look at it after 2.0.1 is released!

Hi all, I apologize for not being available in a while. I have submitted a new version (2.0.1) with support for Invision Community 4.6 and a few bug fixes, and hopefully the new version will be approved shortly. I have also decided to make the application completely free. The reason for this is that I want as many people as possible to use it, but also that I need to make other priorities. I will, however, be better at replying and providing support than I have been this year. While we wait for the new version to be approved, please let me know (especially @James101 and @livegames.co.il) any issues you currently have, or features you would like to see, and I will do my best to fix them and implement them as quickly as possible!

I’m sorry for the delay. I’ve been quite busy with my ordinary job these last months, but I’ve got some vacation time coming up and I’ll have more time to look at your (and other) issues next week. I might need to take a look at your community, if that’s possible?

This sounds strange. I’ll take a look and see if it’s a bug with the application or with your forum. I’ll let you know shortly. Please clear your cache and see if that solves anything. Also, let me know if you’ve made any custom changes to your theme files (or if you’re using a custom theme, the name of the theme), as there might be some issues there. Everyone should be able to see if a topic is marked or not (the color marker that appears in the forum and topic views), regardless of whether or not they have permission to mark the topic. If the topic marker does not show up for everyone, it’s most likely an issue with either your theme or caching. However, cases like yours are hard to debug, so would you be willing to send me a link to your forum so I can take a closer look?

I apologize for not replying sooner. Do you still experience this issue?
  16. Good idea, thanks! I'll take a look, this shouldn't take too long.
  17. Do you get the same error when installing other plugins?
  18. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help! I'll see if I have a copy of 4.4.10 somewhere to test. Do you get any error messages or does nothing happen at all?
  19. Which version of Invision Community are you using? And does this happen with any other plugins you try to install? Also, could you take a look at your System Logs and Error Logs, in the ACP?
  20. Of course, and it wasn't my intention at all to dismiss your advice! My reply to @ASTRAPI was meant as a separate reply, not related to the reply I gave you. I see how it might be misinterpreted, though, so I've removed it from my post.
  21. I've been running a community on Ubuntu Server for close to five years now, without any problems or hick-ups. Everything's been perfectly stable. I've also been using Ubuntu Server for personal projects for as long as I can remember, from hosting my personal file server and services to data-heavy professional projects. This is not me attempting to claim that Ubuntu Server is the best choice, but just a comment to let people know it works fine and has been in use long before Docker got popular.
  22. WordPress is an option, yes. It depends on your requirements and plans for the future of the blog, but WordPress should work well. I agree, but for a basic blog without any significant community features there are far better options. It's like living in the city and driving a huge SUV everywhere. Yes, it works, but maybe a smaller car would be better?

For this years Black Friday Sale, and because I'm in a good mood, this plugin will be completely offered at a quite significant discount (33% off) for the duration of the sale. Get it while you can!

  25. You should always use curly brackets, even if it might be valid syntax to drop them. They improve readability and prevents syntax errors. There’s really no reason not to use them. With that being said, have you tried to print the value of the other theme setting to see what it returns?
