crmarks reacted to Hexsplosions in 4.3: Modernizing our Gallery
There are some really great changes there.
Users on my forums often get confused by file upload size limits - it's my main barrier to users using the gallery. Are there any improvements to either make it clearer what those limits are or to dynamically reduce the file size through compression as it's uploaded?

Not internally, but it's a good feature idea. It's not hard to write a script to do it as it all uses the content framework.

crmarks got a reaction from Nebthtet in 4.3: Express yourself with Emoji
Great work @Mark! I wonder if it might be possible to use native emoji but fall back to Twitter or EmojiOne for devices that do not natively support emoji?

The upgrader does not handle it automatically. If you are not already utf8mb4-reader, you will be prompted to do the conversaion before the system will allow you to enable Emoji.
Yes, if you set your community to use either Twitter or Emojione styles.
Not currently, no. Detecting support is quite intensive on the browser (you have to make an invisible area and attempt to draw the emoji, and then check if it looks like a square or other symbol the platform might use to indicate a non-displayable character), so there would be a noticeable delay in rendering if a fallback approach was taken. Since the majority of modern platforms support Emoji, I would recommend using native unless your community's demographic is particular, or if you prefer the style of Twitter or Emojione.
Not through the normal translation system (there's a lot of Emojis) but all the data is contained a single json file which you could replace with a translated version and it would work.

Sorry. We don't support the invisible option at this time (including 4.2), but we're considering implementing it in a future version.

I see you are still using ReCaptcha v1 on the sign up form. Google has moved on to ReCaptcha V2 and Invisible ReCaptcha.
Is Invisible ReCaptcha supported in 4.2?
I think Invisible ReCaptcha should be the default to make sign up even easier for new users.

Pinned topics still appear at top of list?
Changing forums count as new page for Google Analytics?
Do prefix tags still show in fluid view?
Forum color works well with custom icon?

Actually that's a real cake that @Stuart Silvester's wife made for us for the release of 4.0.0.

crmarks reacted to Joel R in New: Clubs
I understand your concern but I never stated that the club forums would be required to be included in the main forum listing. In the implementation of Group Collaboration, it was an option in the club settings whether to include or not include. As such, some admins like yourself would be able to wholly segregate your website into subcommunities. Other communities would be able to retain their content in the primary app while still focusing a club on a particular subset of content.

Can an entire forum be "converted" to a club and visa versa?
If yes, will it be possible to show clubs in forum index as if they where subforums just for the sake of organization?

No, I meant a better page template similar to wiki on existing wiki style articles. I have already achieved Table of contents etc by modifying html, but it is painful to do edit every post

OMG!
We have been promoting specific articles and posts to our Social platforms for years now. This will save 40-50 hours a month for us! Thank you!

Had this in vBulletin years ago. Nothing ground breaking but a useful feature.
I'm still waiting for some news about improvements like viewing images on mobile devices, lightbox behavior in Gallery (going to next/prev image straight from the lightbox), image upload being more user friendly etc.
Are those even planned for 4.2?

Just a reminder to update the Theme Differences tool, since the latest version on that is still .19 Beta 3
