2022, Invision Community Powered by Shopify
that footer could be a game changer for me

plugin seems to be causing an error when trying to add a topic to a club
if you disable app, the 'add topic to club works ok
error logged below - hook2706 = is this apps hook

have used the app for years now, a great no fuss app that should be in core
a suggested improvement
below is from facebook
QuoteThere are three ways to avoid this and have images render on the first Like or Share action:
<snip>
Use og:image:width and og:image:height Open Graph tags: Using these tags will specify the image dimensions to the crawler so that it can render the image immediately without having to asynchronously download and process it.
the width and height are recorded by invision on the attachment upload so could it be a simple add?

Could I ask what the issue was there? That may be helpful to others
still a mystery why it happened
there was a third party app which had some storage extension errors but can't say if that was the cause
resolved it by simply changing my storage settings set up so if it happened again it would not have the same effect on the site
eg now use the first setting for themes etc

Could you please clarify which site this is happening to? The site you selected for this topic is on 4.6.7.
ok seems a communication problem here, maybe my fault for posting in here, I don't need to give support access as have resolved it for now, was posting really to raise awareness as this has now happened for the second time, and have read others having similar occurrences
thanks

My first recommendation would be to upgrade to the latest release as you're running 1 release behind currently.
Is there anything running on your server at time of this happening? (e.g. server/database backup, database cleanup tasks, etc...)
Are all permissions set correctly to your datastore directory that the system is able to read/write/delete?
thanks for reply, but the current site this happened is running the latest version ( acp support access is set up for another site)
nothing running database wise as far as aware, nothing in logs either
two other possible similar occurrences are mentioned here
-
This has happened twice now, two weeks apart
first time was saving an article and then the second time was saving a forum post
both times the save failed and the site was unusable directly afterwards
on looking both times the 'storage settings' all had resorted to the first directory and my invision license number had also been wiped
as my theme files was in a different directory than the first directory this crashed my site
to recover I had to re-enter all my 'Storage Settings' to their past settings and then delete the 'datastore' directory contents
this got then got site back to an useable state
have read 2 or 3 members on here having similar experience with their 'Storage Settings' being reset

a few more suggestions, less basic but all currently available on other invision apps so should be doable
and some that in 2021 should imo be part of the feature already
3. custom (proper) fields - so can add upcs, brand, color, condition etc etc to each item listing
4. Product image thumbnails generated - I paid for a plugin to do such but would be better if it was an invision feature
5. Tags feature - opens up all sorts of listings
6. Comments options added to the product items
7. Select amount of items per page
more later
8. notifications when out of stock

couple of basic suggestions
1. add a view counter to product items - for obvious reasons
2. when cloning/copying a product item - set the $primaryTable['p_store'] = 0; so that the new unedited clone/copy doesn't show immediately in the store

Unfortunately, it's not really that simple. You can have posts that are hidden or unapproved that may or may not be visible to the person the link is loading for, and depending on those hidden posts, the actual last post might be on a different page.
We have effectively removed these kinds of redirects for guests though in the SEO updates, I think you'll like the results.
I'd suggest that the last_poster_name may be the key to this
as in
the 'last_poster_name' is updated when moderation has taken place such as hiding posts
so then a proposed 'last_comment_post_id" could be updated as well at that same time, yep?
for pages - if the 'posts' value is more than 'topic_per_page' setting + 'topic_hidden posts' value - then use either maths to work out url or the redirect
though on one of my sites only 6% of topics have more than 1 page
27 minutes ago, Matt said:As Stuart mentions, a permalink has to be dynamic to account for issues arising when deleting posts (the page may change) or merging topics, etc. However, it's of little use to guests so they have been removed in November's release.
maybe as said above the last_poster_name changing may be the key to getting around the deleting /merging topics... if that is always valid then the post_id could in theory be as well... maybe

promoted by the recent seo improvements post
a suggestion
if when recording the 'last_poster_name' username in the 'forum_topics' table, invision also recorded at the same time the id # of the actual 'lastpost' in a new column
could the many "&do=getLastComment" redirects then be replaced with a direct url link ?
eg

I've moved this topic to the support section, and also generated a ticket about this issue. You should receive an email shortly with info about it.
anyone out there using aws elastic search service
and finding that reviews are being indexed and are showing in 'activity' feeds ?
a yes/no answer be very helpful
thanks 👍

Could you please try to rebuild the search index? This will add the missing index_is_anon to your ES search index.
rebuild of search engine done , but still the same error shows when adding a review
mapper_parsing_exception: failed to parse field [index_is_anon] of type [byte] in document with id 'calendar_event_review-xxxx'. Preview of field's value: 'false'
and again no show of the review in 'activity'
-
ok my thinking is that this error is connected with the new 'anonymous' feature
the error says there is a problem with the 'parse field [index_is_anon]'
looking at review database tables there is no anon column while the various comment tables all now have a 'comment_is_anon'
-
still getting this error when any sort of review is posted
IPS\Content\Search\Elastic\Exception::0
mapper_parsing_exception: failed to parse field [index_is_anon] of type [byte] in document with id 'calendar_event_review-xxxx'. Preview of field's value: 'false'
the review does not show on activity feeds
anyone else getting this error or do your reviews work with elastic search and activity ok ?
-
interested in this as well
let us know if available for purchase either private or public in future
thanks

Ah, no problem. Could you please let me know which site this is on? Are you running the beta at all?
yep can do, but rather give further details in private

nope I said one site. meaning one of my sites that uses invision
dug a bit deeper, seems ever calendar review posted since the upgrade to the latest version has produced that system error
ok just dug more, it's the same for gallery images review
mapper_parsing_exception: failed to parse field [index_is_anon] of type [byte] in document with id 'gallery_image_review-xxx'. Preview of field's value: 'false'
-

You mentioned that this was on someone elses site. You would need to get that person to post up so that I can take a look at their site specifically.

is that using elastic search ?
am using that via aws
The review shows ok on /content/?type=calendar_event_review&change_section=1 but not on any other activity feeds, which may mean it is elastic search connected
after posting a test review
the following error message in logs - number ties in with latest review posted
mapper_parsing_exception: failed to parse field [index_is_anon] of type [byte] in document with id 'calendar_event_review-xxxx. Preview of field's value: 'false'
backtrace says .... IPS\Content\Search\Elastic\_Index->index()

Calendar Event Reviews not showing in main activity feed?
Just noticed this on one site,
is it a known issue?
anyone else getting it or are reviews working correctly on their site?
(NE) Show post image in Activity Streams/Search Results

Posted
as it looks like the cache issue has now been fixed
am wondering if there is a possible release date planned for v1.1.0
thanks
