am having problems with the profile feedback as well
/?tab=node_feedback_Feedback
all the feedback topics in the profile feedback tab are linking to the same one complete with teh same title
is this one just me or anyone else getting this ?
-
Thanks, you can follow this here http://ipb.silvesterwebdesigns.com/tracker/issue-391-app-is-forgetting-to-update-the-core-members-table/
also if you delete a feedback entry it wipes the % out eg 0
can you advise when the fix is coming out as editing the database each time by hand sounds like its going to a bit of a pain
thanks

hi again
any word on a eta for the pages etc
dont want to push but below was said a month ago
Coming VERY soon:
- Support for Pages Databases (and comments)
- Support for Reviews
- Integration with Reputation
a up to date eta be very much appreciated
-
Hi
great to see it released
but ...
.. any chance of a eta on the topic integration as that was the main way it was used by myself
and so have to decide if worth putting it back up for info reasons only or wait till the proper release
thanks

No offense, but I can't see the usefulness in that. Why would a template change make it a "drop in replacement"?
no offence taken, simple answer is the vnc format/layout is better suited imo for navigation/ease of use
as the current speed of vnc makes it unusable for myself and maybe others then there might be a market for something that does a similar job and looks similar to vnc and also with the bonus of live stream - eg an alternative to vnc
just a suggestions
-
a suggestion would be to offer a style/template view similar to the vnc feature so that it could be used as a drop in replacement
-
suggestions for future version
inc report plugin - so if needed feedback can be reported
inc a direct link to leave feedback from the topic view feedback hook - so can avoid the need to copy and paste the url -
resolved that then got the bad notify key error with just one member, was ok with others
seems its something to do with the members actual notification options set up
as once this member had resaved his notifications options it then worked ok
any chance of this getting resolved fully -
had similar problem to others
not accepting any topic url
on looking appeared to be a problem with the _getTidFromUrl() call
it returned 0
have replaced it with the one posted here and it seems to have resolved this

Ah yeah, that's a better way to disable notifications, if you're having problems with them. I assume you unselected the options next to "Notify me when I receive feedback"?
Again, hopefully the issue will be resolved at the next IPB release.
nope
I was getting the blank screen
then just visited the acp page and left the options as they already were (enabled) and just saved
this got rid of the blank screen and had limited success with inline notifications being sent
they were appearing in the inline notification table but not all columns are being filled
and maybe more importantly the member id seemed to be getting cut off
eg
member 1 - got inline notifications
member 6677 - did not as the member id was getting cut off to 6 in the inline notification table
a quick fix was to add this to view.php$memberInfo = IPSMember::load( intval($userid) ); //added $classToLoad = IPSLib::loadLibrary( IPS_ROOT_PATH . '/sources/classes/member/notifications.php', 'notifications' ); $notifyLibrary = new $classToLoad( $this->registry ); $notifyLibrary->setMember($memberInfo); //changed
now seems to be getting inline notifications ok for members with ids greater than 9 - but have not fully tested yet
hope helps -
Sounds like an error occurred, but error reporting is disabled?
It may be the notification issue. A small percentage of people seem to be affected by it. I asked in the contributor chat about it, and was directed to an IPB bug that might be the cause. Hopefully the next release resolves it.
In the mean time, here's a file edit to disable notifications: Comment out (//) lines 309-316 of /admin/applications_addon/other/feedback/modules_public/view/view.php. I'll post the edited file in the download area soon.
i had the blank screen problem
was resolved after I went into acp and saved the
Default Notifications Configuration options

On my test 3.0.0 forum, it sometimes takes 250+ seconds (over four minutes!) to get the results from "View New Content". I can't even imagine what would happen if I tried to convert my live forum to IP 3.0.0 right now, it would be disastrous. I'd like to use Sphinx (I use it on my 2.3.6 forum with great results), but it has some issues that need to be addressed (there's a thread somewhere else discussing this).
..Al
exactly
I upgraded and found out after a lot of frustration that due to performance the new content feature was imo flawed and was faced with a "switch it off" or "try and self-fix"
same with the members post listing, the active topics listing, and what ever else uses the inbuilt search -
:(
Unfortunately, this thread is evidence we can't please everyone - people found the old way confusing, so it was changed - now other people don't like the new way.
Again, if you don't like view new content, just
change it back. I even offered to do it for you ;)
You do have to realise though, things do get changed over time - while we can appreciate that not everyone is going to love these changes, we have to go by the majority of the feedback we get, which I'm sure you can understand :)
You, rbiss, might not "give a crap" - but that doesn't change the opinion of the many, many people who appreciate the change ;)
what about performance issues ?
the built in search kills my server so I use sphinx instead
however to offer the "new content" feature (which as been said is a very popular feature) have had to come up with a dodgy work around
far from ideal and was expecting 3.01 to at least try and address this issue
will it ? -

that's great to hear

Sam, since we can map skins to useragents, you could make an IE6 compatible skin and map those users to that. Hummm, sounds like a way for an enterprising skinner to make a few bucks. ;)
rather than wait or depend on third parties
couldnt ipb sort something along those lines out
get in a freelancer to knock something up
as its been said and have seen myself , for some it is a large % of current users -
They said it will be supported, maybe not anything but most functions.
If you can check my stats I also have ~20% of users using IE 6 from total IE users, but I will set announcement that they have to migrate to newer version of IE or other browser and problem fixed.
I would like to totally eliminate IE6, because when I fix my template I need to spend additional day or even week to fix all bugs in IE 6.
if there's going to be a ie6 skin reduced functionality with the final then that makes it less of a concern
can anyone fronm ipb confirm this, or point me to a fresher thread as most of the staff posts in this thread are from a few months ago
thanks -
This is stats from one tech site, week stats number of users using IE 4,500 milion.
Using IE 8 > 48.40%
Using IE 7 > 34,45%
Using IE 6 > 16.52%
And in global IE takes 32% of all visits. Users that cannot upgrade IE at work can easily switch to other browsers: Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome or Safari.
I'm with IPB staff it's time to unsupport IE6, support for IE7 and 8 is enough.
is there an offical ipb statement on this anywhere ?
have read past posts that there will be a ie6 skin with final, is that still the case ?
while can fully understand the arguments for dropping ie6
sure you can understand with my ie6 sessions at 20%, why it is a cause for concern -
uk based non tech forum
just checked my ipb session table
20% using ie6
as daytime here - imagine that a high % of them are at workplaces and can't update
certainly a cause for concern -
how about expanding/improving the intergration with chat services that already make use of ipb database - such as parachat

ok have submitted both a bug report and a ticket
that was over 72hrs ago
whats the time scale on support and replies etc
not trying to be a pain but would like some idea of just what support to expect here
gets a bit weary checking other sites when awaiting replies
thanks
