There are settings so you can choose where the feedback data is shown, PMs, Topics (and in which forums), Hover Card.

In theory you could disable all of those, so it's just a tab on the users profile

Many forums including mine are fine with posting in old threads as long as the post doesn't break any set rules.

Currently you have the ability to ignore someone's posts and ignore someone's personal conversations. I believe if you ignore someone in personal conversations, they can't send you one.

What I would like to see is a couple options to expand the ignore posting part.

    1) An option to forbid a user from posting in your topics.

    2) An option to either completely hide a post from view (as in no "This user has posted. Do you want to see it anyway?"), or make it much more condensed. The purpose of ignoring a particular user is that you get annoyed by their posts. But that annoyance still remains even if you can't see what they posted but know they posted in line with the rest of the posts. I know there has been some comments about this like "What if someone else was replying to this person and it caused confusion". Well in this case how about something near the top of the topic out of the line of posts that says "X posts hidden". I can see it, skip past it, and half-way forget about it when I start reading. Essentially don't give me a reason to click on "read it anyway" because if it's in line with the posts, I'm more likely to do so, thus making the ignore feature useless. The whole point of this is -- please make this not inline. It defeats the purpose of ignoring posts.

    Hi,

I would like to see thread prefixes and related threads, more seo/descritive urls, less duplicate content and an option to disable individual urls for each post.

It would be great to see in new version:
    1) the blocks of forum, blogs and gallery activity not only on portal page, but the ability to put them right near the forum in the column or above
    2) Integrated minichat with the ability to resize the window
    3)integrated medal module

Jυra reacted to Elanor in Suggestion: Creating a FAQ feature
Allthough there's the helpfiles we can alter, it would be nice if the board holds a FAQ feature. In there admins can add whatever FAQ they want, regardless whether its about forum or there surrounding websites and features.
My users come with so many questions that if I was to put them into helpfiles, the list would be so enormous that it would be unattractive to use. Besides that, the Helpfiles do not show in language bits so I would have to create helpfiles for all languages on my board, making the list twice or three times as large.

It could be done in a forum layout I suppose, but it would be nice if there could be a way of just listing the questions (categorized) making it easy to find the right question, clicking on it and getting the answer.

If someone allready created anything like it, I would be very interested in finding out how you created it (using IPB off course)

Jυra reacted to Rheddy in IPB Upgrades Becoming Minor Annoyance
IPS Staff: I hate to say this but the IPS Upgrades are becoming a real inconvenient Annoyance.

What am I talking about? Everytime there is a service update to IPB (2.0.1, 3.0.2, etc) the upgrade creates havok with the hooks that I have installed. Not only do I have to disable the hooks, but, they have to be un-installed and then re-installed. The upgrades are not anticipating already installed hooks and adjusting for them and it's becoming an annoyance.

Does IPS plan on fixing this problem or is this going to be a regular 'romp and stomp' action with every upgrade/update? For one, I would love to see this corrected.

Jυra got a reaction from Dave58 in No more links in new window?
Since we have sites and spend a fair time using the net, we forget other people aren't all familiar with their browser's features. So really either way you're forcing users. I can't stand external links that open in the same window. A user may want to have both windows or tabs open, etc. Unlike news sites, forums generally want members to stay longer to post and interact. Opening external links in the same window doesn't help that.

I think it's foolish to think most (or all) people know that they have a choice or enjoy having to have an extra step when wanting to open a new page.

It's nice that IPS added this feature, but I think it was a mistake to have it enabled as default.

I would like the ban reason (something that I can type) to show in the ACP. You know... So other admins won't remove the ban or if I forget why an IP or account was banned.

As for showing to the user. Eh.

They should know why they're banned.

Linking out is natural and is helpful to users of a site, especially on forums. Surely you'd want sites to give you a link back for your good content. Sites like Wikipedia and Youtube use it because they don't know how to prevent spamming or how to enforce their rules effectively. Putting nofollow still doesn't even prevent spam well enough against spam scripts...they just go to the next place.

You should prevent spammy links by actually preventing it.
