Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
David N. Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 (edited) Related to the the Pages database "Articles": I don't really need a featured article but would rather use that badge to highlight the newest article. Where can I edit the word "Featured" to say "New" instead? Thanks! Edited October 13, 2023 by David N.
Solution Marc Posted October 13, 2023 Solution Posted October 13, 2023 You would be using the translation system to change any wording on the platform. You can read more about how to do this on the following links https://invisioncommunity.com/4guides/themes-and-customizations/languages-and-localization_326/translating-using-the-visual-language-editor-r119/ And https://invisioncommunity.com/4guides/themes-and-customizations/languages-and-localization_326/translating-using-the-standard-editor-r120/ David N. 1
opentype Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 But then you would manually have to feature and unfeature records to show them as new. The better options would be to use a custom field to create your custom badge(s). Here is a tutorial for a multi-badge setup from one field: https://www.opentype.space/superdocs/ips-community-tips/pages/multi-color-select-box-badges-with-pages-r16/ Joel R, Clover13 and David N. 2 1
David N. Posted October 13, 2023 Author Posted October 13, 2023 Great. Thanks a lot @Marc Stridgen and @opentype, looks like I have some reading to do. 🙂
David N. Posted October 18, 2023 Author Posted October 18, 2023 (edited) Ok so I ended up using the visual language editor which worked fine for this application, thanks @Marc Stridgen! I just set it up on my blog to be able to have different colors for different badges showing the type of article. One question: In the field settings, I selected "Allow filtering" but how are you supposed to filter your articles by the field value? I'm expecting to be able to click the badge to filter records but that does not work. Edited October 18, 2023 by David N. Marc 1

It can’t be tied to the badge display itself without custom coding. David N. 1

Is it because my Articles database is not using categories?
opentype Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 Again, it goes on a listing page. The database front-page mode is not that. Categories are not relevant.
David N. Posted October 18, 2023 Author Posted October 18, 2023 Oh ok, I assumed the front page was a listing page, because the "listing" display option of a field affects the way that field is displayed on the front page. So what's a listing page? How do I create one? I looked up the IC guide but couldn't find anything about it. The only mentions of a "database listing page" are referring to the ACP.
