jesuralem
Hi there, I will upgrade pretty soon from 4.6.12 to 4.7.5, I had to delay because of plugins compatibility at first and php compatibility after that. My question is : what should I do with the php version ? - switch to php 8.1 before update although it is not supported by 4.6.12 - stay on php 7.4 until the upgrade is done and switch to 8.1 - temporarily use php 8 for the upgrade
Ramsesx
Set up a testinstall and try php 8 for upgrade?
Randy Calvert
I would: Update all third party resources. Switch to a default theme temporarily. Switch to whichever version of PHP you plan to use (8.0/8.1).  Run the compatibility checker to confirm you have all of the required PHP modules installed. Download the latest version of IPB from the client area and upload them to your website. Run domain.com/admin/upgrade Switch back to your normal theme

I have a test site but the upgrade there was done in two step precisely because I ran into plugin problems so I did not upgrade the production site. Now the problems are solved but I have to upgrade all at once the production site 🙂

jesuralem
It is planned for Wednesday 🙂 I am not that worried, until now all my upgrade have gone pretty well. Just the php version that may be an issue.
Marc
Upgrading all at once shouldnt be an issue now you know what items are incompatible and can ensure thats resolved beforehand. Good luck with the upgrade 🙂
jesuralem
I did the upgrade this morning and everything is ok. In the end i moved to PHP 8.0, updated from the adminCP, and moved to 8.1. Like this it was supported all along. Just had on issue with a markeplace app, turns out when you "check for update" but are not connected to the marketplace from the admin cp, the check does not work...
