Site crashed because of "outdated theme"

Recommended Posts

My site is showing a "MySQL server has gone away" error, something I've never seen. When I inquired with Dreamhost about it, this was their response:

it looks like your site is running on
outdated theme, please run the support tool in the AdminCP to restore the
default theme
[[Template core/global/global/includeJS is throwing an error. This theme
may be out of date. Run the support tool in the AdminCP to restore the
default theme.

Problem is, each time I log onto the AdminCP, it just shows me a list of links plus the error they quote, and everything I click (including the support tool) doesn't respond. How does an error like this get fixed? I don't ever recall even installing an alternate theme to begin with.

No, an outdated theme shouldn't be able to cause a MySQL server has gone away error. The error means the mysql server timed out trying to return the requested data.

Well, the best option here is to run the support tool to fix that template error. Once that's fixed your host won't be able to keep saying it's the "outdated theme's fault". 🙄

The support tool on the Invision Admin CP? No link works when I log into the Admin Panel. It just displays a list of links and they all just reroute me back to the main page again.

Oh, it also says this above all the links:

[Template core/global/global/includeJS is throwing an error. This theme may be out of date. Run the support tool in the AdminCP to restore the default theme.]] Jump to content

A configuration or server error has occurred

EX1812 Something went wrong. Please try again.
