Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications Matt November 11, 2024Nov 11
Posted September 24, 20195 yr Has anyone else noticed that IPS improves stuff according to what Google wants to see (code-wise)..... IPS makes the changes... wait a few months..... Google decides it doesn't like something else ... maybe because IPS sites start showing up in search results? Then Google sends a "warning" about some obscure IPS feature or lack thereof.... Google rankings suffer.... Rinse... Lather... Repeat.... Or is it just me?
September 24, 20195 yr Google basically dictates the whole internet standard with threats that your ranking will drop off you don't comply. So everybody complies, ips as well as everybody else.
September 24, 20195 yr Community Expert Management Yes, Google waits until Invision Community installations get indexed and then immediately changes its algorithm just to spite us.

September 24, 20195 yr Wow. lol. I opened this topic expecting something else. Worth a chuckle and to see that the IPB staff also has a sense of humor :-p.
September 28, 20195 yr Author LOL..... Evidently it was just me. Thanks for the education guys.... I needed that. A little perspective never hurts
September 28, 20195 yr Some years ago, before it went to cloud, I htaccess banned google IPs. I only allowed them again because a few members complained that their stuff wasn't showing up in search results. I checked for myself, and it was true. I myself would have left it banned, but I reinstated google. Did it for my members.
