Can't upgrade 3.4.9 to IPB, but can to VB ? ? ? Explain

THIS is almost a joke.  We've been trying to upgrade our dozens of sites to 4.3x and almost everyone fails  - error after error - different servers - 4.3.4 itself couldn't upgrade (bug) and you can't use 4.3.3 or anything lower to do it, which did upgrade OK.

Amazingly enough, we can easily upgrade our 3.4.9 sites to VBulletin?  How is this even possible that we can convert an IPB site to VB error free and we can't even upgrade a site from IPB to IPB? ? ?  This is like me having to take a Camaro, Corvette or Challenger to a Ford dealer for engineering support.

This has been one momentous pain. . .

Are you ... Shouting your pain out to the world or soliciting actual assistance?

If the latter, in no particular order:

1. Make sure you disable all third party items before upgrading.  Any apps, plugins, themes.

2. Take a database dump and send to IPS for them to review

3. Have IPS perform the upgrade for you.  

4. Run the IPS4 are you ready script to ensure you have the correct server configuration.

Did all of the pre-flight checks and tried to upgrade another forum and guess what happened?  Everything passed until the upgrade failed.....again.

Same question as Joel. What’s the purpose of this?
If you want help with the upgrades, open a support ticket. They even do the upgrade for you.

Ticket may be best as indicated. If you want to 'DIY' it a bit more, what type of errors are you getting ?

If you followed this guide step by step you should not received any issues or errors.

From what I have read from all this are database issues where I agree with the consensus you need to make a copy of your database and submit it in a ticket.
Why VB converted makes no sense but dollars to a donuts  says it also has issues that are not being mentioned here.

Upgrading Ipb is easy and smooth. It would help if you mentioned what errors were you getting while trying to upgrade your forums.

Additionally, as mentioned above, you can open a ticket at your Client Aea. Ipb staff is very helpful.
