Sovereign Grace Singles Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 How do I enable link previews? None of the links are showing previews in my forum. For example: https://www.christforums.org/topic/8538-you-really-have-to-wonder-what-these-people-are-thinking/?tab=comments#comment-51783 Thanks, William
Ramsesx Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 It shows exactly as it shows here in your post? If you link to a content of your site it shows an embedded preview like this:
Sovereign Grace Singles Posted April 30, 2018 Author Posted April 30, 2018 No, it doesn't. My first post even in this thread shows an underlined link rather than a preview. Am I missing a setting or something? Why do links convert to preview here for you but did not for me?
Nathan Explosion Posted April 30, 2018 Posted April 30, 2018 External links do not show a preview. Internal links to content on your IPS installation do show a preview. The link provided (which is internal, by the way, hence shows a preview) is to a topic asking for external links to be able to show a preview, which is what you are seeking here too.

Joel R Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 It's magic! Just kidding .... 1. Make sure you link to content from within your own site (christforums.org) 2. Make sure the link is on its own line.

You know if it's possible to fetch external links?
Nathan Explosion Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 For your own development purposes, use CURL and then create the preview out of the resulting page. Does the target site support oembed? If so, then it can be added using my oembedservices plugin to display a preview that the target site itself controls the look of.
