GeneralMitch11 Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 Now that IPS is now on 4.3 with all their new OAUTH system, are there any devs that can make a fully integrated Patreon plugin. Will pay
CheersnGears Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 I will commit to buy as well provided the plug-in can modify group membership based on subscription level.
rhyker2u Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 Been thinking about something similar. Going to follow this thread ... for now ?
SJ77 Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 I like it too. Needs to wire into commerce so site owners can profit some how

Help me to understand: so I can connect to Patreon with their API using my site to help promote their site and generate profits for them by leveraging my traffic? Why would I do that? I should just use clubs and commerce (paid club memberships) and provide a similar service that I own!

Why would I do that? Exactly. That’s why I have been sceptical about the usefulness of the Patreon connection from the start. You could use your IPS site as a fulfillment platform for you Patreon perks. Getting all your Patreons into member groups or clubs, delivering your content this way and building an even stronger community with your fans as a Patreon Creator. I can see that this can work very nicely. No doubt. I just don’t see that there is a significant number of people interested in this which would make that intersting for the IPS core. Makes sense as a third-party app though and shouldn’t be that hard to set up. 1 hour ago, SJ77 said: I should just use clubs and commerce (paid club memberships) and provide a similar service that I own! Yes. That’s what I said in another Patreon topic this week. If you already have a community and the Commerce app, you can do similar things without Patreon.

The idea is that the API tells you who's giving you money, and you can incentivize them accordingly. 8 minutes ago, SJ77 said: I should just use clubs and commerce (paid club memberships) and provide a similar service that I own! Depends on what message you're trying to send. Using the Commerce app implies you are offering a premium service, while using Patreon implies you are offering a free service but would like help keeping it alive. Or at least that's how I see it applying to my site that has no plans to ever sell anything. If you already have the Commerce app, you might as well use it, since it it's far superior to Patreon in terms of features, but Patreon is another outlet that should be considered depending on the needs of your site.

I fully intend on delivering the content on my own website and use Patreon purely for the ease of use of the transaction for the end user, if anything goes on Patreon, it will be just a promotion and link to the content on my site. I have no problem with Patreon emailing my user to tell them that I posted something. There is also nothing precluding me from offering the same subscription levels via Stripe or Paypal, I just find that going to get a credit card to sign up for these low dollar monthly payments tends to dissuade potential buyers. If all you have to do is click the Patreon link, sign in, select a pledge level and be done... it can be a lot more of an impulse buy.
GeneralMitch11 Posted April 30, 2018 Author Posted April 30, 2018 At the most basic level all I really need is for the user to be able to Register and Sign in with patreon, and depending on their Pledge Level place them in a member group. And every month depending on what has changed with their pledge, or if they ended their pledge, it updates accordingly

Dan C Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Hi, If nobody else has started working on this yet, I'm going to pick it up and take it to task.

batarjal Posted October 22, 2018 Posted October 22, 2018 I'll be releasing a patreon plugin very soon. The site owner can add a patreon campaign in the ACP, users then can easily link their patreon accounts and get assigned to one or more user groups automatically depending on their patreon tier. The plugin will also provide boxes for the campaign and campaign goals. I decided not to allow logging in with patreon since patreon sees it as security issue:https://www.patreon.com/portal/start/oauth-explained But linking an existing forum account to patreon will be done in 2 clicks. If you have any questions or ideas please let me now.
batarjal Posted October 28, 2018 Posted October 28, 2018 I'm pretty close to finishing the plugin. Features Connect a Patreon Campaign to the forum All campaign data will be pulled automatically - The ACP then allows easily to assign Patreon tiers to user groups, the campaign image, description text and join button can be shown in a widget Members can link and unlink their accounts to patron form the user menu Settings > Connect Patreon Account Linked members can be assigned to user group according to their pledge tier If a member changes their pledge or unlinks their account the user group assignments can be removed automatically Widgets for current goal, top patrons and new patrons Widgets show join link if the member is not already a patron A free Patreon API key is required Screenshots
batarjal Posted October 31, 2018 Posted October 31, 2018 The plugin is now available in the marketplace:
