Please read the description in the screenshot.

Only applies to new content after change is made? If so, I've posted something new and its still the size of the screen and not 500 pixels.

after upgrading from 3 to 4 all previous youtube embeds just show up as links.

Directly after the upgrade, that’s normal. Have the background tasks finished already? They will go through all the forums and recreate bb-codes and embeds.

  1. Open up a web developer console in your browser
  2. Paste a youtube link and press return
  3. Look at what the resulting response is to the subsequent request that is sent via your server to retrieve the preview code.
  4. Post it here if it doesn't explain the answer to the problem.

That's not the response from the request - that's probably a message related to Google Analytics and totally unrelated.

The above steps I provided are how to troubleshoot these embedding issues - the link is pasted, the enter key is pressed (this is the trigger) and a request is sent back to the server. The server then goes to the url, retrieves the preview code and then that code is sent back to the browser as the response.....and the response is then displayed in your browser.

Reasons it may not work:

  1. Enter/return wasn't pressed.
  2. Port 443 (for https links) or port 80 (for http links) is not open from the server (not your computer) to the target site (ie youtube)

Ok. Thanks... I'll check into all that... Sure would make it nice to have some more indepth documentation and troubleshooting guides for this software. Makes it rather roughly hunting and digging looking for solutions or support.
