JohnCourt Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Ok, the million dollar question here is, who is providing upgrade services! Some of us just don't want to get dirty is all.
AndyF Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 I imagine you could submit a ticket to request it the same as any other upgrade. Unsure if that is possible now as 4 is only semi supported at its RC stage as far as I'm aware, ie install and upgrade issues only.
mesteele101 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Now that IPS has been promoted to RC, is it fairly safe to go live with it?
Square Wheels Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Now that IPS has been promoted to RC, is it fairly safe to go live with it?No, each release seems to include new and exciting bugs. I now wish I had waited.
Rhett Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 AS a rule of thumb, you should never go live with a site until the final version, RC's and Beta's are for testing, some are brave and go for it, but I would never recommend it.
Potential Convert Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Any approximate idea when the testing (RC and Beta stages) will conclude and 4 will be able to swim on its own?
Potential Convert Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Thanks. Your thoroughness is admirable. Best wishes with the transition.
JohnCourt Posted March 6, 2015 Author Posted March 6, 2015 Wonderful! In a few weeks! Wow, it seemed like it would never get here, great things are worth waiting for. Great work guys.
SJ77 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 AS a rule of thumb, you should never go live with a site until the final version, RC's and Beta's are for testing, some are brave and go for it, but I would never recommend it. I thought RC was intended for live?
embies Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I thought RC was intended for live?RC means release candidate.A candidate does not equal to "live". It's pretty close, it's almost there, you can feel it, but it still takes a bit more.
SJ77 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 So what really separates "Beta" from "RC" if they are both pre-release and not intended for live?
Andrej Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Beta releases are not supported through the ticket system. RC releases have support if you are having any major problems, as explained here:
mesteele101 Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 For instance can we place a ticked to update our live site to the RC?I tried to create an offline upgrade to test but was unable to get this completed.
mesteele101 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 For instance can we place a ticked to update our live site to the RC?I tried to create an offline upgrade to test but was unable to get this completed.I was finally able to get the offline upgrade to complete. I went slow and verified each action, and it converted without a hitch.
