It will update some caches.That's what I did to 'fix' the 'Recent images' after I managed to break it trying to change it to random (seems not as easy as I thought, not without effecting other parts) although they went awol so a visit to the Support > 'I need help' and a couple of clicks and it was OK again. I did have a browser crash (my fault) during uploading to the Gallery which may not of helped. But the support link does appear to fix things like this anyway.
