I hope they don't have the look itself TOO different, to the point of it feeling worse to me. I already like the current look for the most part. I really wish they would change userInfoPane, though, to have those stats lined up in some other way because once you add some custom info there, it starts looking bad.

It's very different. You can tell that it has IP.Board DNA, but it's a modernisation of our look and branding. I think you'll like it, though.

Looked cool from that sliver we saw in the theme editing screenshots.

I'm looking forward to this a lot. Traffic analysis of my site is showing me that 50% of all new people on the site are using mobile devices and the current mobile skin is way less than optimal on my site. (Pretty much default mobile skin for forums).

We are working around it but we don't really want to do major skin changes multiple times. (This is where having a rough date helps for planning guys. No matter how much you protest about it being done when it is done. As a business, we need to know some things so we can plan)

And any news about Gallery?

I think when I didn't like a look was early 3.x, though, before it looked close to this current way. I'm pretty sure I always liked it when it got to this point. I also like the fonts and just the overall feel of it. I usually do eventually like things I start out not liking, though, so yeah I'm not too worried.

It will be a normal upgrade process using our upgrade routines.

The most difficult aspect of major upgrades is usually working with custom skins and third party applications/hooks.

If you're going to start a new community and you plan on wanting to upgrade to 4.0 as soon as it comes out, keep this in mind.

There's no guarantee any hook, application or skin in the marketplace will be updated for comparability with 4.0, and even if they are, you may end up having to wait weeks or even months for those upgrades to push through.

If you're okay with throwing a stock install of IP.Board up and just using that until 4.0 comes around, you should have nothing to worry about.

I can do all sorts of stuff in 4.0. It's quite nice. I should tell you all about it.

But really it's actually going along quite well. There's a lot more done than we're letting on. We just do not want to reveal any front-end features until everything is pretty or people will (this may shock you) get hung up on it and tear us apart :smile:

I have a few people I remember from the 3.2 reveal that I am tempted to just go ahead and mod queue now :lol:. Some people go beyond feedback to just annoying ranting.

Look at all the cool things I'm doing in 4.0. Sure wish you guys could see.
