Would starting over with the installation of WPSConnect matter? If there is a way to delete all the settings and start over, I'm all for it. Are you using any kind of opcode caching like APC? If so, can you try disabling it? Yes, you can actually use the delete button on the plugin, which will clear out *all* of the plugin's data and files. There is nothing in the code that makes this possible as a note.... duplicates are very strictly avoided. Link to comment

I tried to delete database entries created by the caching plugins which were installed and since deleted. Link to comment

One thing I asked a while ago, and passed along the information to my developer was how to pass along the users email address to IP.Board instead of a username - thus forcing the user to enter a new Display Name when they first go to the forum. My developer dropped off the face of the planet unfortunately. I'm comfortable digging around, and have tried, but I can't find where specifically to change out the code from sending the username to email address. Just for the record I did disable all plugins and went to default theme, tested and all same results happen whether I have plugins enabled or not :) I also spoke with my fully managed dedicated hosting that I've been using for years and they have gone above the call of duty to help out, but they can't do much for this problem. Issue: I login to IPB forums, and then proceed to the Wordpress site. The admin bar is at the top but has no buttons on it. If I try and go to the wordpress backend, it makes me login again but doesn't let me get to the dashboard, simply kicks me back to the wordpress homepage. If I go back to the forums, I am logged out and must log back in. Basically I login from the forums and if I leave them, it logs me out. I tried a completely fresh new browser and it let me login once, and I did see that users were slowly being added to Wordpress, and all the settings seem to be correct. I checked and re-checked that I followed the installation instructions to the letter, and all seems to be working...except that it isn't :) Any help is appreciated, and I would be more than happy to create temp admin accounts for you to help diagnose the problem more easily, and if you prefer to take this to PM :) Thank you for a fantastic bridge, once this little bug is ironed out, I'm ecstatic to have found a bridge of this quality. Does that work? That works for me, but that's not a good way for it to work. I have noticed from there, if I log out via IPBoard then log back in on either side it works. If I log out via WP, it won't log me back in without clearing cookies. Marcher has reached out to me for backend access, so he's aware of an issue. Like you, I tried it all with no plugins installed and with the WP 2013 theme. Same results. He hasn't gotten back since the long weekend, but he's pretty responsive otherwise. Link to comment

Sympatico Posted December 4, 2013 Share Posted December 4, 2013 OK I think I narrowed down the issue a bit. I cleared bits of my browsing history piece by piece. It was fixed once I cleared my cookies - so it must have something to do with that. Hope that helps! HELP!! ...... I'm extremely certain I would have heard of this before if it was my code. Further, I send exactly 0 mail from this plugin's code. I get the general feeling you are blaming the wrong plugin, or may even have been hacked.(seriously, it's wordpress.....) Link to comment

Hello, It is going to make api calls via the http protocol. I can do absolutely nothing about that, that is the way IPSConnect, and indeed, the xmlrpc API works. It is truly that simple. You would likely need to increase the server's connection limit for port 80. You could alternatively leave the xmlrpc functionality disabled. However, this truly sounds like something your server administrator would need to look into to ensure you have not been compromised. The auth is against IPB, as is the registration. The only way users would be registered to WP by this plugin is if they exist in IPB and not WP. The only way this plugin would create a user in IPB is if they exist in WP and not IPB. I would encourage you to review your members on both sides, it is very likely those registrations are not as errant as you believe. Link to comment

They were definitely spam registrations. I've been running IPB forums for over 10 years and know that when this site only has 3-5 registrations per day getting 10 in 10 mins all junk2numbers@gmail.com is not genuine. I'll speak to the host in the morning and ask them to increase the number of connections on port 80 and see what happens when the plugin is turned on again. PS If i makes any odds, I uploaded 1.1.1 earlier today, was turned off and on 1.0.9 before (turned off due to spam registrations!). Link to comment

If these are spam registrations on IPB, this has nothing to do with this plugin, and I would truly encourage you to review your settings for the IPB Spam Service and ensure it is on. Attempts to visit the wordpress registration screen are redirected to IPB, and I have literally 0 code in the IPB registration area. Link to comment

The only way I could see this being possible is if registration is being allowed through the frontend of WP, bypassing normal IPB registration and thus the spam service. I can only really account for redirecting the default form. Link to comment
