There is no option to do that currently.

I know theres no option to do that, i was looking for an edit maybe.

I had it like it before , but i just upgraded to 1.2.4 and lost the edits.

It's always been there, that's the area that contains the resizer control.

The Shoutbox tab permission is not working well for me.
I set "Hide for all current and future groups?" to NO and in "Hide for groups..." I select everyone but Admins, everyone see the tab.
I'm using 1.2.4. I think this was working before (3.2.2)

What is the actual purpose of it?

To allow you to resize the Shoutbox. Hover your mouse in that section, when your cursor changes you can drag and drop the Shoutbox to show more shouts if you'd like.

It really helps if people read the topic when asking questions like this, I've pointed out how to use this at least half a dozen times already.

I didn't touch anything to do with that, it's an IP.Board controlled feature anyway.

I upgraded to 3.23 now whenever i load any page with the shoutbox it stalls for awhile then loads. When i disabled the box it works fine

I don't know what that means, I don't understand how you can say when you disabled it it worked fine either.

Try reverting any custom skin templates, making sure you have the latest copies of all files uploaded, and do a hard browser refresh.

also the MyPrefs button goes to the IPB error page

EDIT: it seems that when i leave a blank entry on the Application Public Title, the shoutbox doesn't update

But this looks like it only translates the public side, and is a few versions out of date. If you want to try translating this app yourself, it is done using the same steps you'd use to translate anything in IP.Board:

There is absolutely no reason that should have anything to do with it. If it was working, then stopped, then you need to look at what other changes you've done since you installed this; there is no 'keep working for a while, then break' setting coded into this app.

Hello, i will try to make some self clear. When the box is enabled my forum stalls like a query is taking to long to complete. For example it takes 9 seconds to load the forum home page with the shoutbox on..

when the box is off it takes milli seconds.

Its almost like a query is stuck.

Hopefully that makes sense. I just upgraded to 3.23 and this is when the problem came.

If it just started when you upgraded, I'd guess it's an IP.Board problem. Can you post a link to your site, and login info for a demo account if you have one?

Cannot upgrade from 1.2.3 to 1.2.4 for some strange reason.
But anyway version 1.2.4 is still vulnerable to several XSS injections so I decided to completely remove the shoutbox for security reasons.

Better fix these critical bugs before launching a new version.

What shall I do, wave my magic "fix XSS" wand over it? I can't fix issues if they're not reported to me, and your post is the first I've heard of any such issues. If you know of vulnerabilities, report them in the bug tracker.

i have it so it only allows smilies posted in the shoutbox. but now someone found a way around it to post images. huge images too

cause i tried showing u without the * but the image showed up lol



thats what it looked like when i deleted the image, thats waht it left. how do i stop them from posting any kind of pictures? (besides smilies)


and also found a way to bypass the bbcoding too. they can post parsed links now too.

Go to the Look & Feel tab in your Admin CP, to the BBCode Management page. Edit each bbcode you don't want them to use and change the setting that says where that bbcode can be used to select everything except the Shoutbox. You can hold down the Ctrl key to select more than one item in those boxes. Repeat this for each bbcode you want to restrict.

they can still do it. and as far as i know, all HMTL is disallowed.
