h4-ck-3r
I'm having trouble either removing, or resizing the sizable bar on the shoutbox. I find it's a little to large, so I went into the skins CSS, and edited this line in Skin_shoutbox -> Shoutbox: <img src='{$this->settings['img_url']}/spacer.gif' id='shouts-resizer' border='0' height='6px' alt='{$this->lang->words['resize_shouts_area']}' style='margin-bottom:-5px;cursor:n-resize;width:100%' /> to a height of 2px, though it doesn't seem to change anything. Any ideas how to edit this bar? Link to comment
Michael
Changing the height value there should change it just fine, I just verified this on my site. The bar is only 6px high as it is. There is some white area around it, but that is from the padding of the table cell the bar is in. Link to comment

Ruud66
Hi Michael, ( After posting twice in the wrong place, I feel small and stupid now that I found de right place :baby: ) I like to upgrade to the latest version but I'm afraid to loose my Dutch Translation. Just to make shore, can I just upload the new files and click on upgrade or something? Thanks in advance and many thanks for your fantastic shoutbox! Kind Regards, Ruud Link to comment
Michael
An application upgrade should never overwrite any customizations you'd done to that app, apart from actual code-level edits. That being said, I've never actually upgraded an app when I also had a non-English translation of the app installed too. My best guess is that you'll be fine, but you may want to send off a quick ticket to IPS to confirm this, as it would be something that would be the same for all applications. Link to comment
Ruud66
Ok, I will do that, thanks very much for your time and reply. Link to comment
DeRealDeano
The only thing I can suggest then is letting me look at your site directly. PM me FTP and Admin CP details if you'd like me to take a look. Sorry about the late reply Michael, Yes I would love that. I will send you the details via PM shortly. Link to comment
Marcher Technologies
Michael.. do a solid and check your PM's.... put an IPC block together that's been asked for quite a few times... its attached. Link to comment
Michael
Feel free to submit it to the Marketplace if you'd like, I don't plan on including it as part of this app since it's not something that can be added to a site automatically through a standard application install. Link to comment

DeRealDeano
It's there on your site: Its not showing on the board index page which is where I would like it :( Link to comment
Michael
Yes, it is, I took that screenshot from your board index. Link to comment
DeRealDeano
Maybe you misunderstood what I'm asking about. What i'm referring to is the Shoutbox (Global) to display the chats on my board index. Like this screenshot I took from ipbforumskins. Link to comment
Michael
Yes, I did misunderstand you, because you said you had the same issue as someone who was reporting that the Active Users hook wasn't working. But even so, the Global Shoutbox is also showing just fine on your site for me: Link to comment
Josh8
What would this error be?admin/applications_addon/other/shoutbox/sources/classes/library.php on line 390 Link to comment
Michael
That's not an error, that's a file and a line number. I'm assuming you mean you see this error, in which case you should take the advice I gave to that person here. Link to comment

Michael
Is it a certain skin you're not seeing it on, or all of them? Does your group have permission to see the Shoutbox? Link to comment
The Old Man
Hi, I have been consulting with IPS and my web host Wiredhub to track down some very long delays between pages loading which regularly result in a message that states Resource Limit Is Reached The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later. Neither my web host or IPS can find anything wrong and I'm on a beefy server with lots of spare HDD space and resources, although its Shared Hosting. IPS have suggested it may be the Shoutbox as its visible on most of my pages except profiles, blogs and the gallery. I have the Shoutbox visible for my member only on most pages, we have a fairly quiet forum compared to most, about 10-15 posts a day from about 15 members a day on average. However the Global Shoutbox when enabled does seem to cause very long 20-30 seconds delays from when I click on any link on my board from any page that shows the global shoutbox. If I disable the global hook by selecting the option to view on the board index only, I would say the lag halves. My members will not like having it disabled except on the board index, but what else can I do? I have been running shoutbox for years without this problem until recent versions, and I currently using v1.2.3 for IPB Board 3.2.2. Any suggestions, folks? Link to comment
Michael
Show the shoutbox on fewer pages, or don't allow it to auto refresh as quickly. It will consume a lot of resources, there's no way to get this functionality without that. Link to comment
Axel Wers
One simple thing: Could you add to the next version slash after shoutbox? We have /blogs/ /gallery/ /tracker/ but /shoutbox Let it be the same everywhere Link to comment

Thanks Michael, I thought Shoutbox had been tweaked and optimised, I didn't realise it used such a lot of resources. What auto refresh setting do you recommend, I think mine is still on default? Michael
It has been looked at to try and make it more resource friendly, yes, but that's not to say it still doesn't use a lot of resources. There's no way to have it not use a lot of resources if you're going to show it to every user on every page, and have it automatically refreshing all the time. I can't tell you what auto refresh setting you want. You'll have to experiment and figure out what is best for you. Link to comment
