Michael Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Again, that picture is a third party skin. This app, like all IP.Board apps, is designed on the IP.Board default skin. If you start mixing third party apps with third party skins, then you are likely going to run into incompatibility issues like this.

Michael Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 That's not how it's supposed to behave, it doesn't do that on my site. You also evidently have other issues like missing image files. I don't think you have this application installed properly.

I don't think you have this application installed properly. Yeah its because I am playing with the image files currently. But it was like that since I installed IP.Shoutbox. And there is a way the change the height because I saw this http://community.invisionbyte.net/topic/1896-resolved-editing-css-for-ip-shoutbox-shoutrow/ but I need help doing it.
Michael Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Can you post a link to your site? I cannot reproduce your issue.
Gaffney Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 edit the Hook point from the Manage Hooks point ? I don't know what that means sorry do you mean this below: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/338107-shoutbox-resized-sidbar-moved/page__hl__shoutbox__fromsearch__1 I tried tweaking about with it but the shoutbox either breaks, vanishes or doesn't go to the place I want it. I hope someone comes up with a solution.
colleen16 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Can you post a link to your site? I cannot reproduce your issue. Yeah sure. I changed your status you can sign to the cpanel now Michael. And thank you.^^
Michael Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I mean, go to the Manage Hooks page, edit this hook, and change the point it's hooking in to. But as I mentioned, that's not how this is designed, so doing that is unsupported.
Michael Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I've checked your site in Firefox 5 and Internet Explorer 8 and they look fine in each.
colleen16 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I've checked your site in Firefox 5 and Internet Explorer 8 and they look fine in each. Oh so it's the browser? I am using Google Chrome.

Maybe someone will find a way or do you think it could be introduced in a future version ?
Michael Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 It looks the same to me in Chrome. Try a hard browser refresh (Ctrl+F5).
Michael Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 The way you move it to a new position is by using the Files tab in the Hook's setting and choosing a new hook point. You've already put in a feature suggestion for this to be added, so it is on my list of things to consider at some point.
Michael Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 It will permanently stay at the height people set it at. If you're asking for you to define the height that it will always be, that's not how the application is designed.

No it can be done because these forums, plus a bunch of other forums, in the snap shots have it set at different heights.
Connor T Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Then they edited it, or set it them self like I've been trying to say. Your asking someone who does this without pay to figure out how to change the functionality for you. Its a tad bit outside the scope of support. Though Michael is very nice, so you never know. Those screenshots also mean nothing. URLs would be helpful. You could of navigated to both sites and changed the height, then snatched the screenshot.

Here are the links if you don't believe me http://www.rocketboxx.net/ and http://www.ygladies.com for yg ladies I think you have to be registered there for a long enough time for the shoutbox to be visible, not sure.^^
Michael Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 You'd want to ask those other sites how they did something if they have it looking the way you want it to. The way it looks when you install it is how it's designed to look.
colleen16 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Yeah I figured. But thanks for helping me out Michael. ;) You'd want to ask those other sites how they did something if they have it looking the way you want it to.

Yes I've toggled around with the files tab for the global shoutbox hook, The skin group this hook is in, The skin function this hook is in, Type of template hook, The hook 'ID' and the Position of template hook. In 3.1.4 you could toggle around with it and attach it under the latest news template in the hook files settings. But they removed that in 3.2.0. I downloaded the mod which brings it back but it doesn't work.
demoneyezer Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 The edit button not showing up is an IP.Board bug due to a missing macro: http://community.inv...ill-referenced/ Looks like I have solved this problem by doing following in every skin used : ACP > Look & Feel > Skinset > Edit Replacement Variables > Add New Replacement Replacement Key : edit_post_icon Replacement Content : <img src='http://content.community.invisionpower.com/public/style_images/master/comment_edit.png' alt='{lang:macro__edit}' /> Click Add Replacement button Refresh the board index page and the edit shout icon should appear in the shoutbox, right side ...
