Collin1000 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Wow, sounds like you done alot Collin... supprised about the structure where its a setting, never thought of that :P Well, I mean, what else was there? I had .Wolfie make a great point security. But the simplicity of /games I really liked And then the photo-bucket user threw me over the edge. I was like "hells yes, this can be done!" I know there was a code freeze, but I considered this a security risk. Only downside right now is the game import script. On your first time using it, your going to need to manually open it up and tell it the correct folder. Other than that, all that glitters is gold!
Calvin39 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Very happy Collin gave you a load of plus reps for the hard work mate.
Smokey-Rev Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 So beta 4 is going to come pre-packed with games and high scores, yes? We can also add games via admin CP yes? :) when can we expect Beta 4?

We can also add games via admin CP yes? :) when can we expect Beta 4? I understand that 6 pages is alot to read and sift through, so ill spare you the "GO READ THE TOPIC" rant and just post it.Beta 4 will not come "pre-packed with games" Because this violates just about every single publisher's license. Also, the selling/distribution of "game packs" is prohibited. However, at a later point in time, myself and Andy will offer a game installation service.Beta 4 will be compatible with ibproarcade v2 scoring games. You can download v2 games from many sites. Personally, I recommend ibpdownloads.comBeta 4 will not include the ability to import games via the admin cp, due to an issue with sessions, as was already discussed in this topic. However, you will be able to upload game packs from ibpdownloads.com into a quick, easy to use import tool. Here is a demo of the process: http://screencast.com/t/MzgxMzMxNDI As you can see, the entire process takes under 30 secconds. No configuring the game, no setting values... Just upload a game file and done.As you can see from our todo list posted earlier, there are only a few minor changes yet to be made (skinning, installer). I hope to have this finished in 3-4 days.
Andy Rixon Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 What else needs doing on the skinning exactly so that I can add it to my personal todo list and what needs doing with the installer (settings, templates, versions, mysql needs doing?)
Andy Rixon Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Thank you Ian, but most of the credits does go to Collin :D

Uh, "the installer". I dont know how to do that. So, all of it. Skinning wise, check the bug tracker.
Booth Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Beta 4 will not come "pre-packed with games" Because this violates just about every single publisher's license. Also, the selling/distribution of "game packs" is prohibited. However, at a later point in time, myself and Andy will offer a game installation service. Collin, for both IBProArcade and V3arcade (for VB) Paul Neave has allowed the distribution of his games with their arcade add-ons. http://www.neave.com/games/ I reckon you would have a good chance of him allowing the distribution with IP.Arcade (that is what it's going to be called eventually isn't it?) And of course they have been converted to V2 already.
Andy Rixon Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 I spoke to Charles about the name IP.Arcade and he was fine with it, but there would be so much confusion with it. So me and Collin agreed to keep it as iArcade for now and let it mature abit more.
Wolfie Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I would make sure to grab the IP.Arcade name, like going into the mod announcements and announcing it, so that when iArcade is 'mature enough', it can be renamed and someone else can't come along and start using the name first.

I don't get what ya mean by announcing it?

AndyF Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Or make a Blog entry about it ;) Go here > http://community.invisionpower.com/resources/community.html , link is on the right hand sidePost to Blog As a contributor, you can post entries to the IPS Resources Blog to promote your submissions.
Andy Rixon Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Great idea Andy, I will do that now!
Wolfie Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Nooo I mean claiming the name of IP.Arcade, so that no one else can claim it. While iArcade is maturing, it could be considered the future IP.Arcade, but you're withholding the label until a certain point, which in effect can be seen as a development process.
Andy Rixon Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Well informing people that we have the rights to actually use it, people will see only us are aloud to use it :)
Collin1000 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 The Name: As the blog entry says, IPS is no longer allowing IP.Anything on their website. Me and Andy will be supporting the first (and next) beta on IPS exclusively. Renaming it is moot, because if we name it IP.Arcade, we cannot promote it on the IPS website.
MonroecountyMS.net Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Been watching the topic and reading and the arcade looks to have some serious promise. Will be looking forward to the release and good job on the team effort to get it this far.

Andy Rixon Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 I've just gone through skinning bugs that was submitted in the tracker on my site, and now just waiting for Collin to fix a few things in the code and then package it up to me, then I can update all the xml files (like template bits etc) and then can release BETA 4
