Amy T Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Indeed I am looking forward to using iarcade. We will finally be able to upgrade to ipb 3. I am not going to install to much though specially any thing that takes file edits do to the possibility of needing to upgrade to 3.1 shortly after upgrading to 3.
Andy Rixon Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 There is currently only one file edit, on the index.php file in the forums root directory, we couldn't avoid this, it was needed for backwards compatiblity with ibparcade v2 games.
Chito Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 hey, dude... do us all a favor. Im not over at the MPFF website spamming their site for iArcade, so please stop advertising in our topic. Anyone who has actually read even 1 page of this topic knows that I have personally replied to every single request, suggestion, and feature. So im glad you want to promote an $80 topic in this thread, but im proving just about the same thing for free. Money buys you whatever you want, but I dont spam them, so dont spam me! ;) You tell em Collin. They all had their chances to make an Arcade for us, but they took their sweet time or simply gave up. Now that you and Andy took on the task, they're all starting to show up here all of a sudden trying to promote an $80 Arcade? No thank you. I'm sticking with iArcade. :)
Andy Rixon Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 Glad to see you dedicated to iArcade :D

Hopefully we can get that spam issue taken care of. I have some really great news for everbody - as I said in an earlier post, peaderfi has helped me and andy write a new, improved game importer. The importer now allows you to add games via the ACP and is very clean. The code also runs much faster and is more optimized. I have high hopes for this! Im sure everyone will love this new improvement.
Collin1000 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Is it a game importer or installer? It installs games by importing the .tar file.
Windwalker222 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 A game importer is one that I love most of all. I'm still a newb if I have to install one manually. Thanks!
Collin1000 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 A game importer is one that I love most of all. I'm still a newb if I have to install one manually. Thanks! Beta4 already has a .tar game importer. Beta5 will have it built into the ACP and super sexy and awesome looking. Youll see!
Amy T Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 It installs games by importing the .tar file. ah at first I was thinking it was for importing games from a different arcade system.
Smokey-Rev Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Great news Collin. Can't wait to use iArcade dude! :) As for MPFF arcade, hah that's a joke, MPFF can't even code in my experience, i've used osme of his mods and all of them have crashed my site in some shape or form. To charge $80 for an arcade is absolutely insane, then having to pay annually fees to get support or upgrades? who the hell is going to pay for that when iArcade is essentially the same thing and is free? :)

Although I appreciate your positive words about iArcade, Let's not turn this into a bashing topic. Every mod and mod author plays an important role in the IPB ecosystem.
Amy T Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Sorry about that and sorry about the importer confusion. Normally importer and converter and used interchangeably but in this case it is used interchangeably with install.
Collin1000 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Sorry about that and sorry about the importer confusion. Normally importer and converter and used interchangeably but in this case it is used interchangeably with install. My fault for the confusion. To be clear, a "converter" is something used to convert games, as discussed here: http://community.invisionpower.com/topic/302109-arcade-for-ipb3/page__st__40__p__1907342&#entry1907342 Game importing is when a .tar file is imported to the system, and since we do not support manual installing, right now importing and installing are the same thing. I'll try to be more clear with my terms.
Amy T Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I may have to create some tars for some none scoring games I need to install. I have had requests for dress up games, which do not have scoring so will need to create those on the arcade I have to be able to install/import them on yours.
Collin1000 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 I wont be doing much work today guys, (heres why) but just an FYI, me and Andy plan to release beta5 in about 3-4 days.
Calvin39 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Would there be a chance that we could have a facility to clear scores on a monthly basis, just a simple button "Clear Scores" in the ACP would do please. :) And Happy Birthday Collin :) :)
Andy Rixon Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 Jus like to say, thank you to who sent a
Windwalker222 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Happy Birthday fella! Enjoy your day. We'll be here when you return.
Andy Rixon Posted February 11, 2010 Author Posted February 11, 2010 I have a feature suggestion :D Arcade Statistics, but like out the board statistics are like :D and heres a screenshot:Note To Collin I might (for the first time ever) try adding language files so it can be easily translated, won't be till closer to final though.
