Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
Feneroin Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 MATT has started a topic before :D http://forums.invisionpower.com/topic/287440-3-0-1-tested-here
Martin A. Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I doubt it. Since they actually have to support these releases, I think they'll update on Tuesday. If they release it on a Thursday or Friday, they'll get a huge backlog of support tickets and bug reports. Instead of letting it soak here over the weekend, and do the final finishing touches on Monday, and release it the next day.
AtariAge Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I'd love to see it for the weekend so I can work on it and test it locally, but I would not expect it by then either. Next week is more realistic. ..Al

IPS, as I recall, said likely this week, but don't recall any guarantee. Mind you, I hope it does get released today (or tomorrow or Friday), but all we can do is wait until they feel it's ready for us the download and be able to safely use it on our sites. AtariAge Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Considering there are over 50 open bugs at the moment (and this is just IP.Board, I didn't look at the other apps), I'd be amazed if 3.0.1 is released this week. That's assuming, of course, that Invision wants to get most of the open bugs fixed. I suppose they could decide to fix all bugs they deem are important for 3.0.1 and then push the rest off on to 3.0.2. ..Al

Every day we come in, there's more new bugs reported. If we tried to have all open bugs resolved, you'd never get 3.0.1 released. I've said this before, but I'll reiterate - people shouldn't get hung up on the raw number of bugs. It means nothing. Hardcoded text is reported as a bug, but for the majority of our users that's not an issue. Importing a language pack using windows-2943692837 when the original translator used iso-8859-1927889237 doesn't convert correctly in 3.0.0 - again, for the majority of our users this doesn't matter. There will be bugs reported but not yet fixed when 3.0.1 is released, I'm positive of that.
AtariAge Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 [quote name='bfarber' date='15 July 2009 - 01:13 PM' timestamp='1247681628' post='1826690'] We can never fix "all" bugs in any particular release. To be fair, I did say "most", as I know not every bug can be fixed for any given version. I know you guys will pull the trigger at some point, even with 'x' number of outstanding bugs. I know many people are waiting for some of the bug fixes in 3.0.1 (including me), so if I had to guess it would be sooner than later. :) ..Al
bfarber Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Well, if you want "most" bugs fixed we're already there. :) There's around 50 open bugs roughly (not counting FFFV reports) and 241 fixed bugs in 3.0.1. ;)
AtariAge Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 [quote name='bfarber' date='15 July 2009 - 03:39 PM' timestamp='1247690380' post='1826761'] Well, if you want "most" bugs fixed we're already there. :) There's around 50 open bugs roughly (not counting FFFV reports) and 241 fixed bugs in 3.0.1. ;) Yeah, I looked at that list as well, it is impressive (and I gave you kudos several days ago for all the bugs you've been fixing!) You have my blessing to push out 3.0.1 so I can work on it this weekend. ;) ..Al
Wolfie Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I think that there will obviously be a 3.0.2 coming along quickly as well (like in August at this point), so I'm for a 3.0.1 coming out this week as well (like on Friday). That way we can test it out, report back any new bugs and so a lot of people can relax about the who search issue and such. :D
