I wonder if anybody else has suffered this problem. Since the last upgrade – 4.7 .17 – access to the site has become extremely slow. It's difficult to understand the pattern but if you leave a tab with the site on it for even a few minutes and then go back later on and click on a link or try to refresh the page, it can take two minutes with three minutes to display. Once it has displayed then there is no problem – but if one then leaves the tab and comes back again, the same thing happens. We have had people on Facebook complaining about having difficulty accessing the site and registering because of this. This happens with chrome, edge, opera, Firef…

SORRY - I did not realize there was a self-hosted sub forum. I couldn't find a way to delete this so please feel free to move it. Hello! I am helping to upgrade an Invision Community from IPS Community Suite v4.1.16.1. I am aware it is very out of date. The software will allow the upgrade up to 4.7.17 - however, when trying to proceed with the upgrade, it says it requires PHP 8.0.0. Unfortunately, when changing the PHP version on the server to 8.0 or higher, pages are just white/blank and so the site is unusable. I can get it up to PHP 7.4 and the community will continue to work. Is there any way to upgrade to a certain point where both PHP 7.4 and …

I am moving my community to its new home - a Linux home! I already have the database on the new server, and am wondering the steps to take to move the community. My data storage method is file system, but I want to change that. This is what I assume I should do. Is this correct? Back up files and database Switch old server from file system to MySQL and wait for it to finish. Change my hosts file to point to new server Install IPB on the new server Verify the community comes up - will this harm anything having two communities on the same dbase? Change the public DNS

I am having these two tables repeatedly crash, with days or weeks between occurences. Usually they are repairable but in a couple cases were so corrupt they could not be repaired, I needed to use a backup. I have my provider looking hard at it and they are saying the mysql server was up when this last happened. What I need to know is if there is anything, anything at all in the Invision software that could cause either of these tables to crash? The search index causes few problems and is easily rebuilt. The reputations_index going bad though immediately generates errors across the forum, so it is a big problem right away. I am running 4.7.17 IC with PHP Version 8.1.2…

2 different threads in my forums has been deleted. What's really weird is that it is not showing up in ModeratorCP under 'deleted' (I have it archived there for 30 days), and moderator/admin logs are not showing that anyone has deleted them. Does anybody know what could have happened?

Is there a problem, or have users with self-hosted communities lost the right to use the marketplace too? Thank you

Sorry to start another thread, but I have a different question. I'm trying to figure out where the notification goes if someone clicks "Stop all email notifications" Account Settings > Notifications > Bottom of page, "Stop all email notifications" At this stage, we plan on emailing our customers outside of Invision with updates to our products, but if a customer selects this button, we want to make sure to take them off the mailing list. I'm fine to do this manually, but the notification doesn't seem to go anywhere?

I just would like the only check box on the registration page to be the bottom required check box. I can append the language on the top box and make it opt in, but I can't seem to disable it entirely. How can I do that?

Since a few days I have the issue that only a maximum of three users are shown in "who is online". Myself (admin) a logged-in user and a guest. This behavior is also shown in the ACP. After May 30 a sharp drop is shown. Before that an unusual increase in traffic (bots?). However, Matomo shows all visitor traffic, also after May 30, correctly The site was upgraded to 4.7.17 on June 8. However, the problem appeared before, around 30 May. The SPAM defense log shows since this date only IP addresses with 127.0.0.1 and it seems also users with only this assigned IP are shown in "who is online". Is there any setting that can ban/allow IP addresses …

I feel like this has to be a very common question, but searching is not turning anything up for me. I am still getting used to some of the new-to-me features in Invision, and today I am responding to user requests for account deletion. When I look at the account in the admin control panel, I see that a couple of users have one or two posts. However, when I try to find those posts, I cannot. Perhaps I am not using the correct method--I am checking their forum profile to do this. As you can see from the screenshots, the ACP shows one post, but the public profile shows zero posts. Is there a way for me to see the actual post so that I can verify what happ…

Today after out host made some changes we end up with an error that say "License Key Invalid". The key is valid and was working till today. We are aware that we have two licenses on the same URL but in the past this was not a problem.

Spam posts are on the increase on my site and while in the last few months those members had an IP origin of e.g. South Africa, Malaysia, etc...I observed, that recently those spammy members register with the IP 127.0.0.1. This makes it hard to exclude them as some real members (incl. myself) are also registered with 127.0.0.1... Does anyone have a suggestion how to deal with such SPAM? Word filters are already active. Restricting certain e-mail addresses is a bit a tricky as it would make it harder for regular members to sign up. E.g. restricting members using gmail addresses for mod approval. Any idea much appreciated. Thanks!

I used the forum about an hour ago, but now, I am getting this error message: An error occurred (500 Error) We're sorry, but a temporary technical error has occurred which means we cannot display this site right now. You can try again by clicking the button below, or try again later. I didn't perform anything as far as update, or installation. I just went to have dinner. Is this something I can fix orwhat? This is self-hosted on my own site. It is affecting both the forum and the gallery.

Hi! We're working on moving a database backup to a new installation in prep for a server move/rebuild, and we are finding that while we can login to the AdminCP fine, trying to login to the forum itself sends the user back to the login page. Inspecting the requests, I see Set-Cookie in the response headers, and I'm seeing ips4_member_id, ips4_IPSSessionFront and such in the response headers, but they never seem to get placed into the browser's cookies going by Chromium DevTools, even though the domain in the cookies seem to be correctly set to localhost:8080 Because this is a database backup from a live site, we're assuming there's a setting that needs to be cha…

Many of my forum users have had issues where the reply-text-box has no text input area, only the opportunity to add an attachment. This has happened to me also. Doesn't seem to matter if the person wanting to reply to a topic is using a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop, or which browser he/she is using (I've had reports of various Chrome iterations, Opera, and Android mobile browsers being affected.) Clearing the system cache from ACP works temporarily. As does having the user clear browsing data/cookies through whichever browser they're using. Hello, everyone. I have a serious problem with my installation. I had several forums that I had to delete because finally they were not going to be used, and by deleting them, the rest of the community forums are no longer visible. Moreover, they have not been deleted, but remain in the delete queue, but cannot be deleted nor does the delete task seem to work. There were also some threads in those forums, which I also deleted, but now if I go into the moderation panel and try to delete them permanently, it doesn't allow me to do so either. Is it normal that not all the PHP files and folders have their last modified date changed after I update the software? If the dates are not getting updated, I think my backup solution won't be able to tell which files were updated, and it will not back up the new files after an update. Most files on my server still have the original date from when I installed the software years ago.
