Guests need to chose a language in menues

Choose Languages It is not possible to choose language before you log in. This is a problem when users with others languages want to register. My default is norwegian and f.ex. english users do not have english text to guide them true the registration. (I do not mean Terms & Rules) Is it possible to change this so users can see the language choice box before they start register? (bottom of page) I mean the language choice box is only visible after you have Log In. You can not see it when you visit site as a guest. I suggest you correct this i future versions, else language part "lang_register" have no function at all :) With Regards Karl Gunnar

Prevent spam : Badword filter method

Since a few months, we have some topics spammed by robots (yes, guests are allowed to reply). Every night, the same reply is posted with the same content, here's an example : And I'm sure the number of spamming bots is increasing. Just have a look on this Google Search to find hundreads of spammed IPB forums !!! For the moment, all we can do to prevent such spam is to add this url in Badword filters so the url is not displayed, but we still have to delete those messages ! Here is my suggestion : in Manage Badword Filters, add create a new method "Refuse the post" : Instead of censuring the bad word, any post which contains a such word would simply not be posted.…

Simple, yet effective PM addition...

A lot of my members have a LOT of PMs... I recently introduced a limit because they just kept everything and not deleting anything. That said... I'd like to see a way for them to 'save' their messages to their local PC. Something like an export that packages up everything in .HTML or something and boots it out to their PC in a .zip or whatever. I don't think it would be terribly hard, and it would be an immensely great addition to the private messages.

User Permissions etc

Yes we all have user group permissions etc. But what about "User Permissions"? Example - You go to the permission section >> User Permissions >> Enter User name Then permissions like this would come up (for example, you would have sections like "PM Permissions", "Post Permissions" "Profile Permissions" etc etc Then you would click on one of them and permissions like "Can post in forum" >>>>>> Yes No (tick) "Can use signature" "Can download files" and a thousand other permissions. This would be perfect if IPB had this.

UserCp Menu

is there any possibility that in the next major version of IPB that the UserCp Menu can be made into an ajax style menu or some other method so that it can be moved if needed, if you wanted to move the horizontal submenu items into a left sided vertical menu item the UserCp menu causes you to have 2 left sided vertical menu's, it would be cool if the User Cp menu could be changed into a seperate template or placed horizontally with either java/ajax dropdown actions when you mouse over each item. Just a suggestion.

Suggestion: Allow change to "Add a copy of this message..."

I would like to suggest that users be able to set a default of ON or OFF for the "Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder" for their PM's. As an Administrator, I like to save all my sent PM's.

Not 100% if this has been mentioned before but I notice that vBulletin have made a hack which allows the real IP to be shown when users use proxies. I think this would make an excllent addition to IPB since you may have noticed that all NTL users use transparent proxies (by default I think) and you can't therefore ban a troublesome user since they all show up as using the same IP address. Anyone got any views about this...?

Hello, I suggest add a point system into IPB, it's very useful on a lot of conditions, like 200 points can create blog, 300 points can download files with 30kbps, 600 points can download files with 60kbps, etc.

Don't know if it's been suggested before, but it'd be real nice to optionally have password verification when using mass functions or pruning functions to stop cookie hijackers ruining things quite so easily. Yes, I do realise there is a mod already out for it, but believe me...it's really not hard to bypass. That's my 2 cents anyway.

I would finish it but well, I don't know php, but I can finish this thing up & let somebody complete it. How does it look so far?

WYSIWYG problems

One problem that some of my members have been complaining about is that when you have the WYSIWYG enabled there is no easy way to see what code is being generated. Example: You embed some images in a blog post using the wysiwyg. Now a few days later those images get deleted and now they are just broken links .. If you try going back to remove those broken image links its impossible to remove them using the WYSIWYG.. You have to manually switch back to the standard editor .. then you will be able to view the code and remove the broken links. I think a nice view source button (or at the very least a quick button to switch between the standard and WYSIWYG editor) would …

Default Merge Posts Setting

It seems, that this default setting which is turned on to like 5min if I recall correctly, causes alot of trouble for those who are unaware of it. I can't stress how many times I've seen topics saying "my posts gets merged with the above one in x min". I know they should find it themselves, and that they should know. But this setting should be turned to 0 methinks. Not only because of all those topics, but also because I think if they want it, they will, or should edit it themselves.

I say it's about time that Invision finally gets this important modification, not only will this help with keyword density but also to help a thread get a better pageranking from google. This modification would be very much appreciated, thanks. I've seen this applied to phpbb (or at least I think its in phpbb), vbulletin, proboards & mybb. I would like to see a patch that we can use to apply this upgrade to version 1.x boards, version2.0.x boards and version2.1 boards & make it a standard feature in version 2.1.6 & up. and I think that this should go to the right of how long it takes to reply to a topic (right now I see "A minute ago" followed by "Post #1…

IPB Port

I currently have a phpNuke, and the forum in it is an actual part of the website, eg, theres no banner area, there's just the forums and the navigation. I really like this ability, as it has the same style, look and theme as the website, eg, the forum is where the contents of a website usually is. Problem i'm having with this, is that its a phpBB Port. I would much rather have it as an IPB Port! Are you considering making this, or do you think it would be possible if the right coding was used? Because I just really want it to be IPB instead of phpBB! Is there a way to do this?

Hi at all!! I'm italian and i'm sorry for my bad english.... i've a suggestion for the next Invision Power Board Release....why cannot add a language file that set the lang of Admin CP????? IMHO it will resolve all the problem legated to the translations of this borad bacause the Admin CP that is the only part whith can be traslate but cannot be redistribute.... thanks, Pappe!!!

Here are a few of my thoughts for future versions of ipb. Probably several duplicates on what others have already said... Incorporate mods For some of the most obvious ideas on how to improve ipb, take a look at the mods (particularly the easier minor and mid-scale ones, and not forgetting those at invisionize) and try to incorporate what they are doing into the core IPB itself (obviously with the mod authors permission).
