I find it very slow to type a post. There is a delay like there isn't enough RAM on my computer. I suppose there isn't but I wouldn't be the only one on my site. This concerns me.

New ACP Search, Question I guess
by Guest Morrigan- 4 replies
- 1.2k views
I find it more of a question before I report it as a bug. Why is it, if you search for something via the ACP that even if you select a link it still pulls up ALL of the options provided? Just sort of confuses me and makes me have to look twice for something in a list. Are we supposed to be able to do a full search or is the Quick search the only one available? I would assume you should be able to do a full search to look for something but you can only utilize the quick search. If I can get some verification on that so I understand further I'd greatly appreciate it. I would also like to know, as I thought I saw this in pre-preview time, that we were supposed to b…

On ipb3, you can switch to low-fi mode, but it wont let you switch back, unless you use the ACP.

Editor feedback
by Guest Brandon D- 7 replies
I want to start off by saying the editor has seen a lot of improvements since the preview forum. I just wanted to post a few suggestions on areas I think that can be improved further for consideration :) 1. In general, bbcodes are inconsistent with each other. For example, if I want to bold some text I just highlight it and click the bold button for the text to be automatically wrapped with the bold tags. If I want some text to be wrapped with spoiler tags I highlight it and select the spoiler tag from the Other styles menu. Instead of the highlighted text being wrapped with spoiler tags I'm prompted for the text I'd like included in the spoiler. 2. I know it's been …

IPB3: wysiwyg editor
by Guest coe- 15 replies
- 5.1k views
Will there be an wysiwyg editor that works well on the IPB3 release like in ip dynamics (referencing another thread comment). The current although functional wysiwyg is appreciated but very limiting. Something at the caliber of tinymce, http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/ fkc editor, http://www.fckeditor.net/ would be much more appreciated and I'm sure welcomed by the entire cross platform groups. Unsure why it's not included on the current releases. Perhaps a unforeseen licensing issue. The current version unfortunately does not have compatibility with certain fruit based computing operating systems on the browser of choice. thanks.

Spambots are signing up in full force on 2.3.6. Because it's going to be a long time before most of us can use 3.0 will there be a maintenance release for 2.3.6 at some point to clean up this spam issue?

editing
by Guest blackfalcon- 1 reply

we need a way of seeing what edit changes a member made to a post when they edit it. Otherwise, members can post offencive content and can then edit it right out of their post and the staff would not be able to know for sure, thus I am proposing an edit history, where you can see every edit and what the post was before and after the edit.

Hard to create a poll
by Guest acnethai- 6 replies

Now when I try to create a poll. I think I have to write many information to only create one poll. I must to write topic title, I must to write question, I must to write topic content. Why don't you delete question field and use topic title to be question for poll? It's many title of one poll right now.

Sidebar Open - Close PNG Image
by Guest ᴡᴅツ- 16 replies
- 6.3k views
Wouldn't it be better if the sidebar images used gif transparency as opposed to png transparency? It would be compatible in IE this way. No need for any png hacks as well. I see this as a good idea unless the purpose of the new layout is for it to have the traditional architecture easily customized by edits within the CSS.

Customer "+" Help On This Forum...
by Guest CDMS- 5 replies
Last night I paid $250 USD's for your Community Package including a IP.Board, IP.Blog, and IP.Gallery. Now, I come on here to log-in and I see my account not be given the red "+" symbol next to my username that states you are a customer. Is it because I used a different E-Mail address for purchasing than this account, or is it something else? Because, I want to use all the expected features on this board as well if I paid for the software. My purchase was processed and approved early this morning around 5 hours after purchase. Help, CDMS

Attach notes to a topic
by Guest TCWT- 1 reply
I think it'd be useful if moderators and admins can leave notes in a topic. These would be visible to them only. Perhaps add something view them to the dropdown in Moderation options or have the notes show at the beginning or end of a topic (using Ajax). Hope this makes it into 3.1. :D

Twitter

@BarackObama I don't know much about twitter nor do I use it. I found "barackobama" as an ID for twitter and I used that as a test for the bbcode. It seems it creates a link with a variable input x for twitter.com ie. twitter.com/x Is that what it's supposed to do?

Paid Subscriptions
by Guest Sat0ri- 12 replies
- 2.8k views
It appears that when a user's paid subscription expires, IP.Board does not send the administrator(s) an email (such as when we get a new paid subscriber) notifying them... Seems like this would be a built-in feature, so that forum owners can pursue expired subscriptions through follow up communications, encouraging a renewal. A simple way to customize the sign up / renewal / expiration emails that IPB sends out would be useful. == It would also be a benefit, if when we manually add a transaction, if we could CHOOSE whether or not to have the system send that user a confirmation email... It says "New Purchase" in that email, and sometimes we're just changing the stat…

Are you interested in hardware authentication
by Guest swekey- 2 replies
- 1.3k views
Hi, We are a company that ships an USB authentication token. If a user owns a token and decide to associate it with his account. The token presence will be verified (so is the regular password) before granting access to the account. We already integrated our technology in the most famous open source solutions including phpBB, SMF and vBulletin. Before starting an integration in IPS we would like to know if the IPS community is concerned about security problems and if it could be interested in the project. You can get information about our token at http://www.swekey.com and feel free to ask if you have any question regarding the hardware authentication. Regards…

Periodically Auto Save
by Guest coe- 6 replies

Creating a lot of content on each post can be problematic if there are issues with the browser (crashing browser). This would be a useful additional feature. Benefits: 1. Recoverability from a browser crash. 2. Reducing concerns in creating large posts. 3. Always having a recoverable scenario for posted content. This feature would be ideal for communities where posts can be upwards of 500 to 600 words. thanks..

I noticed when I upgraded to IPB 2.3.6, extra linebreaks were left behind when quotes were stripped, after you quote a post containing quotes. I opened a ticket about this, and they pointed me to the sources/classes/post/class_post.php file, which had the linebreak stripping line commented out. I uncommented it, however, that removed ALL linebreaks, which wasn't desired either. Instead, I resolved my issue by leaving that line commented out, and instead inserting the following before the quotestripping line: It effectively removed any extra linebreaks left behind from the quotestripping. You could integrate this into the quotestripping function, but I decided not to b…

"Sort by Relevance" for Search
by Guest sparc- 14 replies

I'm having a tough time finding topics on the forum via the default "Sort by Relevance" setting. I almost always have to click "Sort by Date" Anyone else having this issue? I would love to see a setting in the User CP so that I can set it to default "Sort by Date" instead. Just a thought for the future.....

is openid in 2.36?
by Guest chasz- 4 replies
i am a bit behind in he news, but can we use openid with current 2.36? i found that thread, now it would be nice to allow openid users to be installed as validating users until they allow their identity to be inserted into the database. this way it does away with a user having to sign-up to 1 millions of forums each time just to find some information. of course spambots needs to be validated as always :P

OpenID - Login with google / msn / yahoo
by Guest Zepher- 11 replies

Don't you think it would be great to adopt to OpenID for PMD sites. Many sites like zoho have started to adopt this method. Currently IPB Visitors can sign-up for a account taking time to fill the online application, but if they stumble upon a IPB site, a momentary curiosity/interest arises checks to see how to signup then they will see the option to login using their google/msn/yahoo accounts and voila!!! no need to remember one more password & They will surely sign-in. I know IPB 3 has a facebook login but I'm wondering what other OpenID methods or APIs IPB could utilize. ----> Google API http://code.google.com/apis/accounts/docs/OpenID.html Yaho…

Feature Request: Capatcha/ReCaptcha for Private Message system
by Guest Arun Kumar- 7 replies
- 1.4k views
With the recent PM spam issue, it would be better to have an option for enabling/disabling a Captcha system for sending PM which should solve such issues. Can Invision look into implementing this feature? Sorry if this is a re-post but I couldn't find a similar request. Please close topic if there is an existing topic.

How long the 2.3.6 to 3.0 upgrade process takes
by Guest James Ford- 11 replies
- 1.9k views
An hour ago I started a test upgrade of an IPB forum of mine from 2.3.6 to 3.0b4. The forum has around 1.5 million posts and 0.5 million PMs. It seems to be taking around a minute to convert 200 PMs to conversations. That means the PM conversions should take around 2 days in total. Ugh. I wasn't expecting that. After the PM conversions, is there anything else I should expect to take a while? What about posts and topics, do they all need similarly converting? I remember when this here IPS company forum was being converted, there was lots of talk of it being slow because of ongoing conversion. And that lasted a week or so. Should I expect my forum to also take…

Sudforums that don't close ...
by Guest Cairns- 1 reply

Why can we no longer close the subforums in IPB 3? What's the point of having them in a normal forum if they're open all the time? This is what I mean, this is the skin help forum ... http://forums.invisionpower.com/forum/309-skinning-and-design/ In 2.3.x we can close them, just like the categories on the front page.
