Hard to create a poll

Featured Replies

Now when I try to create a poll. I think I have to write many information to only create one poll. I must to write topic title, I must to write question, I must to write topic content. Why don't you delete question field and use topic title to be question for poll?

It's many title of one poll right now.

And now someone want only create a poll but they have to write topic content with question at the same time. Too many information for one poll.

Well in IPB3 the Poll title is optional so you can just enter the questions and choices. You do need a topic title because not everyone names their topic the same as their poll question or the question could be longer then the topic title allows. Then you have a lot of people want to describe or give more information on why they need answers to their poll so you need to be able to write a post as well.

So am I confused are you asking for them to pretty much make a Poll only not a topic? If you are I'm sort of meh on that subject just make it a read only poll.

Thanks for the answer. Can I delete poll title (optional) field in ipb3 to protect the member's confusion when they want to create poll?

You should be able to easily skin it out.

ok cool. Here is what I want to do http://www.kaboodle.com/za/fun-polls . I will create a thread and let this thread have only poll. It's cool.

Polls are associated with topics, so it's not possible to just fill in the poll information only I'm afraid. If you had a clever developer on hand, you might be able to add some modifications (mostly javascript stuff and skinning stuff I'd imagine). When you click manage poll, hide the rest of the form, then use javascript to silently update the hidden form values so that IPB will still save the topic on the backend. Then in the display/skin, if it's a poll hide the post content and such. You could do some nifty things if you wanted to get into modifying it.
