Integrate with popular CMS?
by Guest datoufish- 7 replies
- 3.5k views
Either sell as additional module or free download as a gift. Some popular CMS like movabletype, ez publish, pmachine, mambo, etc. Integration here, in my point of view, may include 1) membership sysytem (registration, management, etc) 2) comments (comments to an article published by CMS will be posted in a IPB forum) As far as I know, aMember has this for sale. (Maybe I shall wait until Invision's own CMS?)

Currently, in the user CP, regardless of whether one is permissed or not, the links to the blog and gallery management areas of the CP are shown; this is a small annoyance.

Hi everyone, Im new here and couldnt seem to find the right forum to post this in. I didnt have permission to the support forum. I am a little new to power board administration. I am the admin at http://www.discreteautos.net I cant seem to figure out how to make someone a moderator. When I look to make a new mask, the only option is admin status for someone like a mod. I obviously dont want to give my mods admin status. So how do I do this? Thanks, Alex - If someone will move this thread please shoot me a pm telling me where it is going

After clicking reply, there's no autoated JS to add your multi-quotes. The post review should have little add/subtract buttons to paste them into the post.

SM Suggestion

Would like to have the following ability. Generate coupons so members can give to others for free membership or a discounted memberships. Each number would be different and would only be able to be used 1 time. Also it would be nice to have the option to have a generic coupon that people could use, but it would expire on X date. Call it a promotion code if you will...

Calendar Entries
by Guest Xandur- 0 replies
- 1.5k views
I'm in the process of adding holidays to my calendar and realized that there is no way to have a recurring event that happens on every First, Second, Third, etc. sunday of a month. If it's on the same exact day every year, no problem, but with holidays that change days every year, the recurring option will not work. Maybe an option in the recurring section that allows you to select the third sunday of march until 2009. Just a thought... :)

Rating of posts
by Guest Robnhood- 7 replies

It would be a nice feature to rate a post. For example, 1 stars 2 stars 3 stars etc This would be 3-5 small icons visible when reading a post. Clicking on the stars would show the post as 1,2,3 or whatever stars meaning that it was helpful, insightful, or whatever.

Ban User from Topics
by Guest .Daniel- 2 replies
- 2.3k views
Hi; i thought of an idea for a feature that would allow you too ban a single member or member group from posting in a topic. That way; you wouldn't have too close the topic just for one user mis-behaving; you'd just ban the user from posting in that topic; and let everybody else keep talking; If you wanted; you could make it so it automaticcly ups the warn level if they get banned from a topic! The same feature could be used too ban a member from just posting in one forum; instead of banning compleatly. ;)

Reinstate the WWW button
by Guest rcbowman- 4 replies
- 2.4k views
I'm thrilled at most of the changes on IPB 2.0, but the elimination of the www button is horrid. Sure, there's still a link on the user's "card" thingie, but having it instantly accessible on any post is (a) more convenient, (b) more informative, in that you can see if a user has a webpage instantly, and © much more useful, if one can, as a user, refer people to one's webpage and not have to explain where to find the darn thing. Please bring it back! It's a great loss, and upgrades should not be downgrades. At the very least, there should be an administrator's pref setting to show www buttons. Thanks.

More attachment options in My Controls

It would be good if users could sort the list of their attachments. Good options would be: Number of downloads date of upload size date that the containing topic was last viewed or updated

Attachment / Gallery / Blog Uploads Manger
by Guest krocheck- 2 replies
- 2.1k views
I have found that with all these different things it would be easy for any member to take advantage of the various other systems if their quota on one is full. Instead of setting maximum upload space for each different system, having one global .... Upload Box ... for everything along with one upload quota would be much more effective and easier to moderate. Keith

Banner management
by Guest hollywoodgeek- 2 replies

I have people that want to ADVERTISE on my site. It would be great if I could point them to a url where they could buy an ad online. This could be a revenue split with Invision, offset hosting costs, or paid directly to the board owner.

GD Email logging on Validation
by Guest Pete- 9 replies
- 3.4k views
Hi there guys Here's a feature request as an owner of a busy board (once I port my two across into my new 2.0 board). I get sick of spammers signing up ay my forums, using real email addresses to validate their accounts, then logging in, altering their email address and spamming my forums. On that note, could we please have an option when a member validates to automaitcally create a GD image of their email address (so it's totally tamper proof and maybe even with the option of having the image folder outside the root of the webspace) just as they click the validation link. This way we'll have a permanent record of a working email address to help track down evildoers ;…

Member Titles
by Guest Logan- 1 reply
- 2.3k views
Hello, Currently, if you go to System Settings>View all General Settings>User Profiles> You will see: That is valid for ALL member groups. It would be much better to be able to set certain groups to be able to edit their own member title by post count or just generally anytime for that specific user group. Thank you :)

Tasks
by Guest Wolfie- 0 replies
- 1.8k views
Ok it's cool to have a task manager that runs internally and all, and even that there are some predesigned tasks, however perhaps the ability to have the ability to integrate task modules. Here's what I mean. Let's say that there is a single module for all of the default IPB tasks. When setting up a scheduled even, if the module being used has been designed to be integrated, then a setup menu would be shown where the different tasks (that it supports) can be turned on/off, as well as any additional settings or options for each task it supports. This would be useful for cutting down on clutter and also for allowing admins that have slow boards to set up for more tasks…

More IPB Portal features
by Guest -Strider-- 13 replies
- 5.4k views
I think IPB Portal should be easily customizable. I think you should be able to make custom blocks, and i think there should also be IPGallery and ITSL blocks available that show a random image, and the top 5 sites. Also, when hiding all skins, the select skin block still shows up, with a blank drop down box

Points System
by Guest Ruy- 11 replies

Hi, if you know the phpBB system, you may also know that it has a MOD that will allow members to get points by posting messages, and also that admins can give them to users. Isn't this a nice option to put on IPB?

[REQ] Keeping an eye on protected forums
by Guest Cheule- 3 replies
- 2.2k views
Have you ever laboured hard on your board, setting up security, permissions and such. Of course you have. But what about a pesky member who gives out a forum password to others? Would it be possible to add a list of people who have successfully accessed a particular forum, viewable by Admins? This way I could compare who I have given the password to against a list of people who have actually logged into that particular forum. What does everyone think? Essential or bloat? >_<

Creative Commons
by Guest inventaur- 21 replies

Great new feature needed! My forum is designed to become an Intellectual Property discussion house and an open, democratic authoring site for ideas and futurology. To this end, we want to allow posters to get propper attribution for their work, and this will mean using Creative Commons. The goal is to use CC's pop-up html which they say can be embedded in a web site. As forums are special, I want to be able to put the pop up in the post edit page tool bar - this then launches a window that takes you through the liscence process. A graphic is left at the foot of the work in the posting itself. Creative Commons code explanation This would be an enormous feature for m…

Secure/HTTPS Boards
by Guest G_B- 4 replies
- 2.6k views
The patch: 1) disables the nav bar on board index page (wasted too much space to fit with our logo and custom menu) 2) removes some restrictions imposed by ipb that are not needed to secure the GB flavor of PHP 3) shows how to require SSL/TLS/HTTPS for a particular board By posting this patch, I'm really hoping to give a gentle push for Matt & team to add a nice ACP integration with a per-board/forum/category checkbox for requiring HTTPS in order for users to access the board/forum/whatever. BTW, I've used several PHP-based forums, but none come close to the quality of code/design in 2p0p0PF4. Great job guys! 2p0p0PF4.patch.txt

Easier Member controls
by Guest frazzled- 3 replies
- 2.6k views
I've suggested this before, but I'll try again. We find several Admin CP control panel features cumbersome when trying to validate new registrations. 1. Could there not be CLICKABLE LINKS in the validation queue? Now you get an email saying new poster devildog has registered. You need to view the profile. You have to type the name in to search for the member. You can get the informatino, but it's like walking out the front door and around the block to get to the back yard. It would be so much easier if you could just walk through the house. 2. Have a clickable member list easily accessible from the front page of the control panel -- links to "last 50 register…

[Req] Adding a new user via AdminCP
by Guest Paul B- 1 reply

When you add a new member via the AdminCP, there is no option to email the member informing them they have been added to your forums. It would be nice to see this feature. As it would save time from manual processing the email.
