So ideally we could have data drawn in from the member record to populate a list of those joining an event.  I don't have hope that this will happen, though I can dream.
Something that would be easily done would be to enable an option for a link to a page (external or internal) where you'd be taken upon joining an event.   That page could be a signup form, a waiver, or additional info about the event.

David's right.  Confusing as is, easy to improve.

I am revisiting this topic, as there's still a GUI confusion here.
    In the image below:
the green ✔️ Following button indicates that I am following. If I click it, I will NOT be following.  the green ✔️ Going button indicates that I am NOT going. If I click it, then I will be going.  Same buttons, same wording, same symbol, same color coding - and yet opposite functionality.

IMO, a green checkmark symbol and button should indicate that I am already doing something - like with the Following button.

We require more info from someone joining one of our events, and now use Google forms to collect it...just indicating that you're going on the event isn't enough.  We'd like to use the event signup more, but this means folks have to join in two places.
Could event signup collect more info or link to an external form?

Understood.  Yes, seems to be the same problem.  Again, if I can help or test, do ask.

This could be useful to us.  We sell attendance to events as a product, but there's no linkage between the event and the product.  In our case, we have just 9 or so events over a three-month period, so it's doable to set up the 9 products.  If one could purchase a place at the event it would be more attractive and manageable.  Even if you could just tie indicating attendance at an event to purchase, that would help us (but probably not the original poster).

NSPN got a reaction from Edjazoli in Recommendations for user name when registering
We want to encourage new users to use their real name as their user name when registering, and to discourage or prohibit them from using an email address or just a first name.  Where can we insert text to do so?  Can we place restrictions on allowable user names?

Answer provided:  you can cancel and refund all line items on an invoice, but not some.  You can cancel a sale of an item without refunding by going to the item.  Refund for an item can then be made by using the original means of payment (e.g. PayPal) outside IPS.

I did see it.  I didn't find the incoming support requests settings, and a search for "incoming support" in user guides comes up empty.  The support system was set up long ago, but we don't really use it, so I didn't think to look for it under commerce.  Password on mail was changed at some point and updated in email settings but not in support settings.  The two places where the same email password must be updated are rather remote from each other.
