You won't be able to place ads anywhere on the Live Topics UI. The advertisement system has had an update for v5, but I don't think we've spoken about it much.

I think I spent more time making up fake adverts than writing about it.

Ok. It would be nice to discuss in another topic. One sub-topic is how some of us currently make manual adjustments so our ads aren’t blocked by the popular ad blockers. It’d be great to eliminate this need.

The specifics are to be determined, but it will be part automated, part manual most likely.

Another Invision Community 5 blog is on its way right now.

There's been a lot going on, but we're waiting for a few things to be finished before we can show it off. We're currently revamping the theme resources UI, lots of Pages things in progress including a brand new easy page builder along with QA of what's already been added.

We can provide the tools and you can decide how to use them. Google taking forum content seriously after years of "user generated content" being rated down can only be a good thing overall.

See the links in the original post. Google are making large changes to how forum posts are presented in their search results and they include more data on the author including a link to their profile page.

If you do not want to have profiles indexed, then you can simply adjust the robots.txt via the ACP to exclude them again.
We would still add 'noindex' meta tags to profile without any valuable content to avoid loads of thin pages being indexed and sucking up the crawl budget.

We are chatting about this internally and I think we agree that there is now value in letting most profiles be indexed. We still want to avoid 'thin' content pages for members who haven't posted, or perhaps haven't posted in years.

We really want to improve this during v5's lifespan.

There’s definitely more gears than cheers here.
Ok, so we don’t “ignore” feature requests. We have thousands of customers that use their communities in diverse ways. We can’t add every single feature that is requested, but over the years we have added hundreds.

We look for trends, and feature requests that are asked for from multiple sources many times. Things like better stats, more robust spam management, better mod tools, improvements to SEO come up often and as such are regularly featured in new releases.
Features like this one find little support among other customers so we are less likely to include it. It’s also worth mentioning that we have a vision for our product and sometimes good feature suggestions don’t fit it. It’s the same with any piece of software.

Gaps in our functionality are often filled by our marketplace authors.
As for trying to link what our marketing department are doing to being less able to develop code, that’s just not what happens internally. There’s more to Invision Community than just me. I probably do the least amount of coding here now.

    I appreciate your input nonetheless.

This is so exciting. Would love to have an AI instance that has read every one of our posts and is available for questions. Tell me what x user said about this event in 2021.

    Big dreams, I know.  🙂

The problem is that too many people want to throw AI at everything. I've seen loads of AI based 'executive summaries' on things like Helpscout, Amazon Reviews, etc that honestly do not offer much value.

We are happy with using signals and a mathematical model for this feature. @Matt Finger has been discussing building a LLM for many things, so it's an area we are interested in.

We are not using AI models at this time.
Client browser speed will be greatly improved in v5, we're already hitting high 90s in Pagespeed scores for mobile out of the box.
