  1. If I set Pages as my default app, then my forum URLs will start with mydomain.com/forums/ Is it possible to rename that folder something other than /forums/ ?
  2. The more I think about it the more the idea of customizing the forum app folder name sounds like a great idea, however would it present issues with future updates of the Invision Community software which would expect that folder to be named /forums/ and not /forum/ ? If you believe there are no issues, then would that be a service you could provide? If not, could you recommend someone who I could contact to help with this? Thanks!
  3. my old phpBB was installed in the /forum/ folder to not confuse with my wordpress blog which is in the root domain. Now that I have Invision I intend to use only Invision for both the blog and the forum. Apparently here on this site the forum is in one folder: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/ And pages is in another: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/
  4. Right now all my Invision apps are installed inside a folder named "/forum/" (as it seems to be right here: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/) However that means if I go to my blogs then the url becomes mydomainname.com/forums/blogs/ Is it possible to move the apps so that the blogs can be accessed directly from mydomainname.com? And so that I can use Pages to create for example a home page accessible from mydomainname.com ?
  5. Thank you! Interesting: if I visit the page and copy/paste the URL from the browser URL field to a post, that works. If I copy/paste the URL from my "Notes" app on my Mac, that does not work. Here's an example of that: https://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/topic/142036-new-forum-support-sign-in-posting-replying-searching/#comment-823832
  6. Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your experience, it's very useful to me. I have worked hard to customize the ad placement with my ad publisher so that the ads appear pretty much the same way they did before migration. I'm not sure what you mean by administrative issue that has to do with links? I didn't find information about specific things to do before migrating from phpBB to Invision. Here's what my robots.txt file looks like: # Rules for Invision Community (https://invisioncommunity.com) User-Agent: * # Block pages with no unique content Disallow: /forum/startTopic/ Disallow: /forum/discover/unread/ Disallow: /forum/markallread/ Disallow: /forum/staff/ Disallow: /forum/online/ Disallow: /forum/discover/ Disallow: /forum/leaderboard/ Disallow: /forum/search/ Disallow: /forum/*?advancedSearchForm= Disallow: /forum/register/ Disallow: /forum/lostpassword/ Disallow: /forum/login/ # Block faceted pages and 301 redirect pages Disallow: /forum/*?sortby= Disallow: /forum/*?filter= Disallow: /forum/*?tab= Disallow: /forum/*?do= Disallow: /forum/*ref= # Block profile pages as these have little unique value, consume a lot of crawl time and contain hundreds of 301 links Disallow: /forum/profile/
  7. Have you tried reaching out to your host? They may be able to help.
  8. When I post a link to another topic in a post on my own forum, it creates a nice embed box visual, except that for one specific topic it no longer does, it just pastes the link as text (it used to work fine though).
  9. To monetize a community the sticky sidebar ad unit is a big earner and generally not too disruptive to your readers. I wish we could add a sidebar to nearly every page of the Invision community including: Search (including Search results). Profile Private Message
  10. Just installed this now, it's great ! Thank you for this plug-in! 😀
  11. Is it possible to have a sidebar on the search results page?
  12. When I have a tab open displaying a topic, sometimes I get a black banner at the bottom that says "John Doe has replied. Show reply." However clicking "Show Reply" does nothing visible because the reply it displays is further down the page, hidden offscreen. Shouldn't it scroll down the page in order to actually show the reply? Thanks!
  13. If I am reading a blog article on my community, or if I've started typing a post or a response in a browser tab, and I get a push notification for example that someone sent me a message, then when I click the notification, the page I was reading or typing in reloads with the content of the link in the notification. That means I lose track of what I was doing in that tab, or I lose the text I was typing. Instead, I wish it would open the notification link in a new tab.
  14. AAaaah! Now we're getting somewhere. Thanks a lot @Sonya* !
  15. Thank you! However that gives me only one column? I meant a blog view like https://invisioncommunity.com/news/ with 2 or 3 columns, one box for each article with a featured image.
  16. Thank you both. I'm disappointed to see how difficult it is to create a wordpress like blog in Invision Community. Seeing the blog on this site I assumed that I would get the same functionality and look from the Invision software without too much tweaking or 3rd party plug-ins. So I'm going to try to use the default "Articles" page I suppose but creating a blog-like home page with boxes representing each article (rather than a forum-like list of articles names) is a little more challenging that it would seem. 🤔
  17. I'm trying to set up a simple blog. I am the only writer for now and perhaps I'll invite guest writers in the future. Similar to the Blogs on this site: https://invisioncommunity.com/news/ I'm not sure if it's best to do it in Pages or Blogs? I've tried doing it in Blogs however it seems there's one level I don't need in the hierarchy (the possibility to have multiple blogs), and it confuses me? Let's say I want two categories, News and Tutorials. It seems like now I have to create a blog inside the category, and then an entry inside the blog, so the tree structure is: domainname.com/blogs/category/blog-name/entry-name The breadcrumb is (I've named both the category and blog the same thing, not knowing what to name the blog): However I want a single blog with multiple category, and I'd like to see this: domainnamecom/blogs/category/entry-name Just like on this site for example: invisioncommunity.com/news/community-management/what-successful-communities-do-r1241/ PS: And how do I rename "blogs" to "news" or something else? Thanks!
  18. The way I understand it, "media" is another word for "disk usage", meaning the amount of disk space you're going to take on the servers. Most hosts have a maximum disk space you can use and if you go over you have to upgrade to the next plan. Page views are the number of times someone sees a page. That's a metric in your Google Analytics so you can measure it from there.
  19. Unfortunately I'm not sure how I can add widgets below the ads. The ads are inserted via javascript by the ad publisher. Right now the ads appear below the widgets. Maybe that's something I should ask them to change?
