Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Pre-made templates are something we'd like to do. We'd also like to release our own work we've done here for examples to use. 
You may find the improvements being made to Pages in a soon-ish release to be of more help to you. Finally, we have a number of tutorials done and on the way that are being reviewed internally. Hopefully all of these combined will maximize the benefit of the product to you.

It seems like this application is triggering a " There are some problems with your database " error under the support feature.
This is what I get when I click on "Fix This"
There are some problems with your database. Normally it is safe to try to fix these problems automatically however if your community is large, you may want to run the necessary queries manually. If so, the queries to run are: ALTER TABLE `core_groups` CHANGE COLUMN `pm_assign_items` `pm_assign_items` TINYINT (1) NULL DEFAULT 1 ALTER TABLE `core_groups` CHANGE COLUMN `pm_act_as_pm` `pm_act_as_pm` TINYINT (1) NULL DEFAULT 0 ALTER TABLE `core_groups` CHANGE COLUMN `pm_act_as_pm` `pm_act_as_pm` TINYINT (1) NOT NULL ALTER TABLE `core_groups` CHANGE COLUMN `pm_assign_items` `pm_assign_items` TINYINT (1) NOT NULL  

I've tagged this as a suggestion for a new feature to allow Admins (or some special membergroup) to override the setting for testing purposes.
I don't have an ETA on this since I'll need to consider other implications, but it's something I'm thinking about.

I got this to work. The key is you need to schedule the action manually. The rule won't execute until the event is triggered so you have to execute your action manually as @jair101 mentioned. Also, don't forget to use the proper token in Rule -> Action. Once you set up the rule , then you'll go to the Custom Action and execute it manually. Works like a charm. I wanted to do this to remove the member ID number from the url. Makes it look better in my opinion.

This Author right here is one of the few that is working hard to keep his customers satisfied and is willing to work with us instead of being arrogant like some on here!

1. Introduction
Application Forms by @Fosters is a powerful and versatile tool that you can use in many ways.  In today's tutorial, we're going to create the app to create a "recruiting form" for a position.  This can be applied to any of the following scenarios:
Nonprofit / Charity: Apply for an outreach position Gaming / Fan Groups: Apply for a clansmen or tribal lead Customer Support: Apply for a brand certification Employee Intranet: Apply for a project or department role If you need to manage and invite new members to fill key roles, you can use Application Forms to fill those roles and ensure the best quality of candidates.  Set up your own recruiting forms with your own set of questions to be reviewed later by your staff.  
In our example, we'll be using a fictional example of applying for the Gryffindor House of Hogwarts.  We will walk through the basics of setting up an application, setting up fields, and reviewing permissions.  

There's actually a disconnect among all the content in all the apps but that's a larger discussion. Each app is a silo of information and is a problem that plagues a multi-app community.
The OP brings up a powerful example of a very unique weakness in the IPS suite.  Admins often have a fractured content base because images in IP.Board have no way of relating to images in IP.Gallery. It's a major, fundamental concern that I share as well.  
The OP shared one solution: to combine image content from forums and gallery into user content.  
I'm more a fan of generating a 'virtual' album in IP.Gallery where the images are linked from the forums.  
In any case, the cross promotion of content is one area that IPS hasn't even started to address but is a very real problem on complex multi app communities.

I can confirm that the latest patch fixed this issue.
To fix go to : System -> Support -> Something isn't working
From there you'll see a minor patch. Apply it and it should fix the tags not saving.

Will it be forthcoming?  
The more I look at Clubs, the more I think IPS users need to use Group Collabs instead in 4.2.

Well I add 8 prefixes and click save but when i go back to edit forum only 1 is showing as saved
Therefore when i go to add a new topic - only 1 prefix is in the list of available prefixes

I don't know much about the automation plugin, so I really can't answer what it's capable of. I believe it does have some ability to touch tags/prefixes, but you'll have to ask its author about that.

It requires setup to do so, but yes.
If I understand you correctly: You can change a prefix definition in Manage Prefixes, and change its topic assignments in Manage Tags, to cover both.

No, it is not planned. However I might actually add that in the next release.
