While you can change that by changing the ID in your conf_global.php file, I would actually advise just renaming your groups accordingly. So rename your members group to the first group name

Never mind,  It has been so long I do not remember how this stuff works so I am just stumbling around.  Disregard my rants.  Understanding all this stuff was read difficult before my stroke, now trying to comprehend what the instructions are trying to explain is even harder.  Even simple things for other are difficult for me to understand.

Then it is what I said:

It will remove follows from members that haven't logged in for 365 days (default number when you install the software).

    You can either:
Disable it by choosing NEVER Increase the number of days

You dont have to have the tab open. If you are doing this, you would however need to do it as follows
Log in as yourself Click to log in as the user Do whatever actions you need Click to switch back to your own user on the front end (this is likely what you are missing) Repeat the process

Also when you are done with being signed in as that member, you need to sign out of them before going to the next account. If you don’t sign out of the first account, you’ll be logged out of both accounts on the front end.

Jeff - thanks for posting this here, you'll get more assistance this way (plus, I'm a few cans deep into several hence why I wasn't in a position to help)
However..one thing about the "Sign in as" functionality. You need to be signed in as yourself (the same account as in the HACP) to be able to then sign in as someone else.
Please ensure you are logged in as yourself on the front end before trying to use that "Sign in as" functionality.

Not honestly sure what you mean there, Nathan. There was indeed step-by-step what needs to happen there. I understand there may have been questions after that, but there were indeed specifically what needs to happen.
@CaptJeff, you are currently running PHP 7.4.
Before you continue any further, with the working site, have you made a complete backup of the files and database at this point in time? If not, please have your hosting company do this before you do anything else at all. And we can then work from there.
With regard 3rd party items, you have 4 3rd party plugins, although they are all disabled. If you are not using those, you are probably best to uninstall them completely, by visiting System>Site Features>Plugins and selecting the x next to each item. I would highly advise on not using any 3rd party items, and sticking with the base product.
Get to this point, and we can then continue from there

But it is also general comments, with no specifics.
Read the room - Jeff has commented that he has difficulties here, so don't beat him down further, please. It serves zero purpose to do so. (And if there is a desire to argue the case with me on this, don't do it on this topic, please)
@CaptJeff good luck tomorrow. If in doubt, ask before you proceed.

Jeff...before you begin that work, can you advise what version of PHP you are currently on with v4.4.10 of the Invision software?
Also, before you proceed with ANY file replacements tomorrow...switch to PHP 8.0.x or 8.1.x (not 8.2.x) and then run this file on your hosting:
...do not proceed if you have anything not right with it. And post a picture of the result up here, regardless, if you do choose to proceed.
The more people know BEFORE you upgrade them the more they will be able to help.
    And do not panic.
  14. Thanks
CaptJeff reacted to Nathan Explosion in Site is up but not working right.
Correct...assuming that is the complete listing.
It doesn't indicate if you have any 3rd party plugins though, as they are in a separate listing.
  15. Thanks

Locked means you don't touch it...it's the 'core' of the software, and should not be disabled so hands off!! 😉

This would indicate the folder is not writable, not the files inside it.

This is likely unrelated to changing the permissions on files in the logs folder as that would not take down your site.
I see that you restored from a backup as your community is running currently. I would advise taking things one step at a time. Restoring your images in the uploads folder first and then moving towards an upgrade. Lean on your hosting provider as much as possible for any changes to the file system as they will know what to do in these cases (and if you have support with them the best route). Also, any file uploads which you may need to do (such as a manual upgrade)

Anything uploaded by the users would be located in the /uploads/ folder typically in a subfolder like monthly_XX_XX like:
    /uploads/monthly_2023_04

    OK,  Just to update everyone.
I have had the server people edit the Cron Job for the HotAirBalloonist.com site to point to the latest version of PHP on the server.  8.1.+++
They are also going to restore the site from a backup that I had done back in May.  This should get my old site back up.
Then I can try to figure out what the 3rd party apps are and see if I can figure out how to turn them off.
The other thing I can try is to update the "Test" forum I created in another folder on the site and see if that works.
So somehow we will get this back up.
Thank you all for your help with this old decreed hacker.

    Jeff,

I fear that a lot of your addons will not be supported any more. For instance, Members Map doesn't exist, and it was (I believe) rewritten and called Community Map. However, @Martin A. did or does have an upgrade option to import all your old markers.

As for your other plugins/addons, you'll need to go through them and see if they're able to be upgraded and whether you need them. And yes, an old theme can cause problems. Ideally, you'd need to disable all addons/plugins and run the default theme and update the site that way, ensuring that ALL NEW FILES overwrite the old ones on the server.

I don't mean to be another just to jump in and confuse issues, but it's best that you restore your forum and keep it as is until you're 100% ready to upgrade.

I have tried logging in again to see if I can see the issue for you, however the admin login details are still incorrect so I am unable to log into your upgrader.
One of the things I would very much advise you do, is remove all 3rd party items on your site. While many may run 3rd party items with no issue, this is probably what is causing you so many issues. You have a combination of lacking the knowledge to run your server environment proficiently and having too many variables that could cause issues on your system without the knowledge to correct them proficiently. This is not your fault, its simply that you have found your limit.
At some point, something has to give in order to simplify matters. In an ideal scenario, moving to cloud would be a very good start, but you have mentioned you don't have that option. So removing all 3rd party and running stock will remove many variables that could cause you issues.

If you have them restore at this point, there is nothing we can do to assist you. We need to be able to see the issue in action

We would need to look further into this for you, however the access details on file appear to be incorrect or missing. Could you please update these details by visiting your client area, selecting the relevant purchase, then clicking "Review/Update Access Information" under the "Stored Access Information" section.
We look forward to further assisting you.
