    IPS have not released an official version yet.

    When I asked on the forums, my post was ignored by IPS in the feedback forum, having waited until the new blogs etc. came out and still nothing. I then asked in a ticket and was told it was not an official skin at all and it was a community skin, and that it was dependant upon the community. It was only when I pointed out Lindy's post above that they agreed it was an official skin, but gave no indication of when it would be updated.

    I am disappointed with IPS on this skin as they promised it in 3.0.3 (I think) and since then we have had a couple of beta versions and nothing since 3.0.5 was released. It looks poor here and reflects badly on Ehren who originally crafted the skin and won the competition that IPS ran last summer.

    All very sad and not up to the usual standard of IPS on what is an excellent skin.

    After reinstalling the Twitter Sidebar it worked. However I could not find any controls in the ACP to do anything with it like control the size or use it as a feed to the forum.

    What I'm looking for is a Feeder that can be controlled by Mods that will show our Twitter Channel to anyone who looks at the forum including guests. This is important because we need to get weather updates and emergency services feeds through Twitter to provide to the forum members. Of course one should not rely only on Twitter for Emergency Service Announcements but it can be a good tool for sharing information.

    For this I need something that can be adjusted in size and fixed into place but I want it in the side bar as I have a big empty space there now.

    not 100% correct in the blogs section - the header blocks part of it.

    When a member makes a post that is subject to moderator approval - it would be nice if this post appeared to the user, but stayed hidden to all other groups that cannot see such a post.

    That way the user would know it has been made and secondly could edit the post prior to it's approval (subject to his editing rights on the forum)

    It could then be marked as awaiting approval.

    I think we shall wait on beta 5, maybe 8 or RC1 to get it work. :-)

    No it's not.
    IP.Shoutbox is developed by members of the community who very admirably give up their time to provide it for other members of the community.
    IP.Chat is developed and will be supported by IPS much like Blog or Gallery.

    Incidentally, if you don't want to use IP.Chat, don't - it's an addon that will at it's most basic level be provided for free - you never paid for it, we never mentioned it before, and if you don't use it, it doesn't really affect anyone here.
    Although, it is frustrating how you've based your opinion that IP.Chat has "installation problems" that deem it unusable on a beta - it's this sort of thing that makes me wonder if it's worth releasing public betas at all if people clearly don't understand the concept.

    This chat bites. After uploading the files to the directories required, there is no option to install this in the ACP. There are no settings in ACP. And nowhere to enter in the chat key. This was just a waste of time.

    there are still issues here - with the cleancut skin for example - so I doubt it will happen until they are sorted.

    I expect it pre-Christmas :)

    Making 'date of birth' / 'birthday' an optional or required profile field on registration.

    We are finding that many of our newest members since we converted do not have their birthday in the profile, and there is no way to give them a reminder to add it when registering.

    Excellent post - can't argue about any of that.

    All you VB points are those that I too miss in IPB (total pain having to go into a CP and remember the users display name that you wish to edit!)

    Worth adding on search that with IPB you can use sphinx, which even with V4 VB refuse to add - makes a big difference to larger forums, but would rather it be topics by default.

    Also in IPB's favour is display names - something that VB does not have.

    Displaying results by topic rather than by post would be much better - with the option to display by post if people preferred.

    Can't think of any situation where for the majority of users they would need to see the same word repeated 20 times in the one thread. And so had to look at the 21st result to see the next thread.

    Let me try my best to clear up certain things that people are still unsure of regarding the following:
    * bounced email handling - integrated
    * wiki - IP.Content/CCS does the job
    * cyb advanced forum rules - IPS has a BoardRules function built in See the Forum Rules here (Alternatively, you can make a page using IP.Content)
    * GARS (reviews) - There is a tutorials mod available that i'm sure can be altered to suit reviews.
    * Invitation system - Here
    * reputation system - Built in
    * reputation comments in posts - Mod - This may suit you or This
    * reputation moderation - built in
    * multiple account detection and handling
    * post report system - built in
    * vb's infraction system - built in
    * member help / support / ticket system - Mod, and there are quite a few available, look aroud, can't find a link :)
    * real IP detection (see trough proxies)
    * reciprocal links directory - Not sure if this is what you're looking for....
    * verify email before registration - Built in
    * facebook like chat - Not sure
    * full featured chat room - IRC
    * canned replies - built in
    * vb's thread prefixes - Not sure if this is possible yet, there may be a mod :)
    * donation system - Here
    * vbexperience - iPoints system

    Hope I was able to help clear that up for a few users!

    Also IPS naturally has equivilant add-ons to some vB add-ons:
    IP.Gallery (vBGallery)
    IP.Blog (vBlog)
    IP.Downloads (Full featured Download System)
    IP.Tracker (equivilent to Project Tools)
    IP.Content - Fully functional and powerful CMS/Portal system (better than vBACMPS)

    Fairly low at the moment - depends upon time of day, maybe a backup was happening on the server?

    Never had to really wait though - so has never appeared slow.

    There is no real value in an old style vb licence as too many are selling them.

    I have them to sell and they are not worth a lot.

    I would rather convert mine to IPB and put all my forums under the one software product.

    With such a discount, I could move them over.

    At the moment it is $130 to upgrade to the VB suite or $249 to convert to a similar offering here or $299 for the full works (current offer).

    can't agree with you - I would hate a forum with lots of different post icons - it makes a forum look untidy.Also from experience very few people use them anyway - even if they are visible.So I am sure IPS have made bigger mistakes ;)
