  1. I moved to a new host and emails send to people who wanted to sign up got a link they needed to click for verification that had an "url1128" appended on it.

    I fixed that.

But then I moved to yet another host because the previous one couldn't handle this software and I'm now am facing the exact same problem and I just cannot for the life of me remember what the solution was. On top of that I deleted all email correspondence that could tell me how to fix this, so this is a lot like 'Obi-Wan you're my only hope' question.

So this is what the link should look like:
    https://whateveryoursiteaddressis/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=redirect&url=https://whateveryoursiteaddressis/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=register&do=validate&somelongcode&mid=1206&key=somelongcode&email=1&type=registration_validate

but this is the link people get at the moment:
    https://url1128.whateveryoursiteaddressis/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=redirect&url=https://whateveryoursiteaddressis/index.php?app=core&module=system&controller=register&do=validate&somelongcode&mid=1206&key=somelongcode&email=1&type=registration_validate

    I'm using sendgrid btw.

Anyone feeling a bit like a Jedi and help me out here?

  2. "Don’t worry, it’s not bad news".

Going from $190.- a year to $280 a year is not bad news?

Cutting email support while hiking up the price like this is not bad news?

Cutting email support while having a terribly lacking documentation (since day 1) is not bad news?

Keeping innovations away from those who self host then when that dust settles, hiking up the price is not bad  news?

I dread the day you do come with what you consider "bad news".
Going to have think this over. Might going to cut this chord.

Looking at your pricing structure I get the feeling you are in the process of driving those who self host away. I can be wrong but it would make sense to just have medium to large businesses as your clients.

  3. Thank you for your input Daniel.

That won't work when I try to install a new testforum, and my greatest fear is if I try this and the current host settings still go awry at the next update I'm even further from home.

Guess I'll have to move once again to another host one that allows more then wordpress installs...

    Thanks!

  4. Hi and hello,

I recently moved to a new hosting company. Trying to install a new 'test-forum' next to my working forum, I ran into a "429 Too many requests" error.
Having contacted the hosting company they say that the forum-installation process makes "too many" AJAX calls in too short of time and suggested that I asked IPB if there was a way to slow down these AJAX requests.

So I did and the answer was that there was no way to change the speed in which it installs and it should be solved at the hosting end.

I contacted my hosting back and their only solution is for me to go VPS or Dedicated Server, costing me more money then I have.

On top of that I fear that if I tried to update my current working forum, I will run into the same 429 error and because the update process is going to be aborted that will damage my live forum.

So question, what other options do I, or my hosting company have except for me moving to a new host? And if I do, what do I need to know/ask this new host to know if they have the right server settings to be able to host this forum software? In the 10-14 years I use Invision software I've never run into this, hence I ask. Maybe it's just a weird host.

Cheers and thank you for your time!

  5. Hi all, I need some help explaining why I can't set up a test forum.

I'm pretty noob when it comes to the workings behind the Invision forum & applications and terminology so I hope the person replying here can have a bit of patients with me.

    - I recently changed to another hosting company.
    - I kept my URL/ domain name.
    - I deleted my old test forum on the previous old host.
    - I set up a new test forum, with a brand new install at the exact same URL as the old test forum.
    - I read the install and upgrade instructions.

According to these instructions, as long as I use the same URL, domain I can (re)set up a test forum.
Yet I'm not allowed to recreate my test forum.

So, uhm, where do I err in my thinking I could?

  6. I would love to see more, by group preferably, permission settings for clubs. I would like to be more in control of which group can do what in clubs.

    - Can view content in clubs Y/N
    - Upload images in clubs Y/N
    and the like.

This I feel is currently missing, given all the other great permission setting I can use elsewhere in the forum software.

Cheers and have a great 2020!

  7. I just installed the last update 4.1.16 and it is empty on the forum display side.

    Screen-Shot-2016-07-17-at-07.26.jpg

If I hit the cog wheel I can add/remove/re-arange the images but they won't show up on the forum.
I turned it off/on, ran system clearing cached data but no images.

    Help?
