  1. Thanks for this thread since I'm also starting to get too many high res uploads…

Apparantly, I have ImageMagick checked. How do I know that it's installed?

I changed the quality to 64, will see if anyone notice.

After modifying these settings, is there a way to apply them to already uploaded pictures?

    Could contain: Page, Text, File

  2. With todays phone cameras picture sizes will just get bigger and bigger.

As people are, they don't tend to care about the picture size but jus upload their pictures as they are. To think that normal people will understand the concept of making pictures smaller is to hope for to much.

Is there any way to automatically downscale pictures in IPB when they are uploaded? (I know that it's possible to set at maximum size when you upload the picture, but I'd rather resize them automatically – I believe in making it smooth for the end user.)

Do you have properly configured MX & PTR DNS records? Why is your mail server not capable to drop emails?

Everything is set up to work as a normal email server, and works as it should.

I don't understand what you mean by "drop emails"?

The mail that I get (as shown above) is the mail server saying there is no mail account on that address, because the spammer have used an email that doesn't exist. Thus I (as in the admin of the site) am sent an email every time these emails won't reach their destination.

So basically I wonder if there's a way to turn off the "Did you forget to submit your content?" email, or a better solution to this behavior?

This particular mail is the result of activating the Post before Register feature. It will cause more spam registrations.

What will happen if I turn this off?

    This happens.

Which mail server do you use for your domain?

Plesk on Ubuntu. (that would be Postfix, Qmail and Dovecot under the hood)

  5. What in my setup have I done wrong when I get extremely many Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender, such as the below?

I understand why they arrive, but I don't want them. And I have tried to write a mail rule that delete them asap, but they tend to end up in the spam folder instead. And I want to keep my spam folder clean, meaning I spend a lot of time to delete these…

    Any suggestions?

Oh my heavens! how much I hate spammers!!!

  6. I have one old Plesk server, and one new. Both are the same version and located on different Ubuntu servers with the same version.

I have migrated everything to the new server with great successs, and changed all A pointers, except for the subdomain on our IPB.

Since the Plesk migration also moved all databases, I wonder if it's safe to update the IPB subforum A record as well? Anyone that knows?

  7. The last few weeks I have started to get email from my IPB, see below. These are obviously spammers that don't have a legit email address.

Is there any way to NOT get these emails?

    Tia,
    Andreas

  8. Problem:

When a user registers (typically a spammer) and leaves a non existing email address as reference, I - the admin - gets the "This email doesn't exist" error report sent back to me. I get 1-5 of those per day, and it's really disturbing.

I don't want those emails. Is it possible to change this setting, eg by have a "no-reply" email address as a register address or something?

To clarify: I want to be able to send *other* emails of course. I just don't want to know if someone registers with a faulty email address.

  9. At my forum you can't see who reacted to your post. It only says "Somebody reacted to your post". Even when hovering, or clicking on the reaction, doesn't give away who gave the reaction.

Here, at the Invision Community, you do see who reacted.

I have looked for a setting that regulate this, but couldn't find anything.
    Where's the setting for this?

    Bad:

  10. I serached for the letter "a" and found 2 pages of accounts, all banned. I counted them to 37.

I want to delete them, and pressed the Prune Members Found, and got this:

"This action will remove 2 members from the community completely. Are you sure you wish to proceed? This action cannot be undone! It is recommended that you perform a backup of your database before running this tool, as a precautionary measure."

How can 37 found members be 2?

    <rant>

Really, why is this so hard? What happened to the checkboxes we where used to in v3? And all other normal databases. It's a shame really.

And why do I have to count the total myself? Shouldn't it just say somewhere "37 records found" or something!?

It will make it look normal. The problem is that the default is meant for the heart and doesn't work well on the yellow emojis.

    Thanks!

Where do I put this code? 😝
