Yes it was a browser cache issue.  Strange the browser cache stored the 'location' of the old emoticons instead of using the new CDN.   

It was a http to https line in .htaccess that prevented it.  I figured it out!

I'm still wondering how it is that the BEST forum software still hasn't figured out how to INTEGRATE its forums into Wordpress nice and neatly?  When one considers that 30% of the web runs on WordPress ... it ought to be a NO-BRAINER to have a seamless integration?
Look at how XenForo has a nice tight integration?  And there is no way that Xenforo can top Invision... or can it?

The plugin currently just adds the additional headers to the files stored in an S3 bucket, I still use Cloudfront personally but I'm thinking the brand of CDN you use in front of your bucket to distribute your content shouldn't make any difference.
The plugin currently doesn't do anything involving Cloudfront or any specific CDN, it just improves the files created as they get stored on your S3 bucket. As long as you are using S3, or as pointed out by a reviewer on the file, it also works with one of the S3 compatible type providers called Wasabi.
So if you were just using AWS S3 on its own without a CDN, that's fine, the visitor's browser would get the extra headers that the plugin added. If you add the url of your CDN into the AdminCP storage configuration, it should work just the same.
I could probably make a test version.

Nevermind -- I found the solution

The person that had their profile messed up, contacted me immediately explaining how she removed the pin and it caused the error.  Once I turned off the Member Map, their profile was fine.  If I turn it on again, I get the same error.

GREAT APP!  If you're looking to IMPROVE the app -- perhaps include a way to SPIN auto responses.  For example, in the Status when someone joins it's the same auto welcome.  
Whereas if you ever have used a Spinner type program to recreate the same article with different words that mean the same thing -- it displays a different article -- yet the same.
For example, 
(Everyone say hi to | Let's welcome | Welcome aboard | So glad to see you)  (%User_Name%)!  (%User_Name%) just joined our ( little corner on the web | forums | bulletin boards | fellowship )
So that you'd have a multiple set of responses so that it doesn't look automatic.
