Management Matt Posted December 4 Management Posted December 4 Thanks Day! Let me know where to send the money. I have two briefcases and the combination on both is 1337. I like the car analogy. I have a Tesla Model Y, and it doesn't have full auto-driving because I didn't pay for it. I don't see that as a missing feature though. I think a lot of that thinking is just down to our legacy of having a single product for all. And don't worry, I love what I do and I'm genuinely thankful that I get to do it. The only constant in life is change, and we've had to change and adapt over the years. Some use it as a stick to beat us with but without adapting we'd have vanished years ago. Certainly agree with this. We've been self-hosted and cloud-hosted (currently back to self-hosted for the time being at least). We're comfortable managing servers etc, but the removal of the stress and time of doing the nuts and bolts of that for our community was a definite plus when we were cloud based. I don't think the comparison in price between a VPS or even dedicated server at some random host vs a SAAS product is ever a particularly fair one. Matt 1

MythonPonty Posted December 4 Posted December 4 (edited) I have to speak up, it's not a moan or a groan, but just to raise my finger once and say that if I could wish for it, I would love it if the function “assign topics to moderators” would also be available for Classic Hosting. The Community Experts okay, is nice to have. But we have a lot of posts that are moderated and it would be really helpful if we had this feature. Then we would know which posts are already under observation by which moderator. Otherwise we keep getting in each other's way. And once again... Thank you very much for the great update to the next level. Edited December 4 by MythonPonty konon 1

I raz jeszcze... Dziękuję bardzo za świetną aktualizację do następnego poziomu. I wouldn't count on it. These functions are likely designed for their cloud service, probably as microservices, and it's doubtful they would rewrite them specifically for self-hosted setups. It would certainly require considerable effort, which they likely don't have time for. Be happy with what you've receive we already have many great new features. If you need this solution, it might be time to consider whether a cloud solution is what you need.

I am very grateful for what the great team has achieved. And I don't want to debate how others have already done it. I just mentioned that it would be great, because this function would bring really great added value. But I'll go with what comes next... I just wanted to point out that this function is “super” and would bring added value to all community owners. konon 1

Nobody develops this software for free development and maintenance come with very high costs that they need to cover.

No one here is using services without paying for them.

No one ever said we get something for free. Compared to cloud customers, we pay significantly less, and there's no point in hiding it so let’s not expect too much. For now, let’s be grateful that self-hosted is still available for version v5 and will be supported throughout its entire support period. As the team has stated many times, some features require their cloud infrastructure and will never be available to self-hosted customers due to the complexity of implementation, the significant time investment required, and the additional hundreds of support requests. These actions are too costly and lack business justification.
